Steven Avery Murder Trial Begins in death of Teresa Halbach

The Steven Avery murder trial began today as jury selection is underway. The vicious murder Steven Averyof Teresa Halbach shocked the country in the heinous manner in how she was killed.

About 300 people were originally in the jury pool, but just over half were let go for hardship reasons.

The remaining 144 will be pared down to 30, and then to 16.

Four alternates will hear the testimony, in case any of the 12 jurors cannot be around for the entire duration of the trial.

That’s expected to be about six weeks.

Opening arguments are expected to begin around midweek. Steven Avery’s nephew, 17-year-old Brendan Dassey, is scheduled to be tried separately.

Steven Avery’s defense attorneys are claiming that Manitowoc County sheriff’s deputies planted evidence to set him up. Hard to imagine this much evidence was planted. For a refresher on the details of the Teresa Halbach murder go here.

There’s no setup here just an animal that likes to rape and kill.

He specifically requested Teresa to come to his business to take photos of a car for sale. Her car was hidden on his lot…her blood was in his home and garage. And of course the little thing of his Nephew participating and ratting him out.

If this were a death penalty state he would have already tried to plead out to life but since he has nothing to lose it goes to trial.

I hope he doesn’t get off on a technicality this time or there will be another dead young women in Wisconsin soon after again.

I think there will be no technicality. Pond scum defense attys always try these stunts.

Avery is going down and its just too bad there is no death penalty in WI.
