This is an outrageous sentence. She needs a new Lawyer.
Teachers get 6 month probation in some cases. She was
      crucified with this much time.

      What state was this in?

    6. Richard on January 5th, 2007 8:49 pm

Come to think of it … the kid was the friend of her son, and that’s presumably how they met. So how does the computer figure into it? Maybe things are weirder than I can even envision….

    7. NOT AS STUPID AS YOU THINK on January 5th, 2007 8:55 pm

Just because she is a woman does not mean that she isn’t a child molester. I am happy to hear that at least California is waking up to the fact that when an older adult(male or female) molests a child or a teenager there is DAMAGE done to the child. It is acknowledged when the molester is male — BUT — when the molesting is done by a female many people think that that’s great — after all “teeenage boys are all hormones” and “they are being taught how to do it”, “it’s a treat for them to get it” and all the rest of the horse-pucky that is said!!

Just imagine 30-40 years ago when the girls were molested the statements were “she was asking for it”, “her clothes were too sexy”, “she couldn’t resist me”, she was nobody and I got her cherry, ha-ha” !! Now men who molest girls/teenagers are not approved by society and we know that psychological damage is done to the girls.

When is society going to wake up and more states start taking action against female molesters. Boys are left with psychological damage too!!!

What is the average sentence for a first time child molester? But then is this really her first time offence? I don’t know — I too am wondering at the very heavy sentencing of 15 years — but then we don’t know what the whole circumstances are. I am just happy to see her sentenced. Not like that horrible miscarriage of justice in Florida where the 25 year old teacher got off scott free because she was “so beautiful” and “youthful” looking.

By the way #3 — you asked what punishment the boy got? He will have difficulty having a close relationship with women for the rest of his life. I knew of three different guy’s who were “taught about life” by older women. Each of the guy’s were “playboys” after the incident, didn’t really trust women — EVER and have had multiple marriages and difficulty relating to and trusting their wives. I suspect that this is only the tip of the iceburg. Just like girls that have been molested there are various problems.

    9. Big Lou on January 5th, 2007 9:14 pm

If that was a man having sex with a 15 year old girl would you be asking what punishment the girl got?

    10. micah on January 5th, 2007 9:47 pm

      Are you kidding me?
Ladies, I’m beginning to think the film “Notes on a Scandal” should be required viewing during teacher orientation!

    11. nurturer on January 5th, 2007 10:08 pm

#8. I personally know quite few guys who have, or have had, the same problems you mentioned and they were never ‘molested’, as you put it. Molestation is a forced act, on a male or female. I’m sure there are a few parish priests that could define it for you. If these two, the 15 year old boy and the woman had sex, then the 15 year old had to get an erection. A male sexual response to a sexual stimulus. In this case, I can only assume that stimulus was the woman.

      STILL WITH ME???

Doesn’t sound like force to me. Now, if you want to get into how the statute reads, that’s different. Bottom line: This kid was into it, in more ways than one.

#9. Cut the politically correct horseshit. Read what I wrote above, AGAIN.

Sex with a 15 year old is RAPE whether he or she was into it or not. Don’t blame the VICTIM!

    14. nurturer on January 5th, 2007 11:18 pm

Ask him if he feels he was a victim. After he removes the smile from his face, you MIGHT get an answer.

    15. Mike on January 5th, 2007 11:55 pm

#14….By this reasoning the you must think it would be ok for a 41 year old man to have sex with a 15 year old girl if she was into it as you say.

She was his senior by 26 years with authority she is the criminal not the boy and yes he is just a boy.

    16. Scrapiron on January 6th, 2007 12:39 am

Compared to a man who raped a 12 year old girls and was released on $5,000 bond and is now nowhere to be found this woman was crusified.

$5,000 for counseling : That is the biggest bag of horse manure to be spread in years. The ‘boy’ is out bragging about banging his buddy’s mother. Give me a break, I was 15 once.

A lot of difference between male and female teachers having sex with students. A male does it from a power position, a female from a nurturing position. In each case abuse of the position, I am against it! But I do feel there is a huge difference in potential damage to lives involved.

By the terms of this sort of ‘witch’ hunt I was sexually abused as the boy kid. Funny, I thought then I was the luckiest boy alive, still do when I reflect on it. I am greatful to any female of my life, on the scale of bad things that have happened to me…the female nice times do not get in the area of the scale, much less on the scale. Rediculous!

I am a former school board member, spoke for teachers organizations, sub taught a little, did classes about geology or something I knew somethng about. ALways ennormously aware not to be alone with a very few kids or be in any possible situation where a rumor could start.

I cannot imagine how any of these teachers, our city has had them too, can get involved that way when the risk is so great, how do they allow the first move.

It is a big chore each year to hire good teachers, accompanied by having to separate from some low achiever types. I predict all this talk about sex and teachers will make the hunt for good (good is the key) teachers more difficult. More percieved risk.

    21. NOT AS STUPID AS YOU THINK on January 6th, 2007 7:45 am

Nurturer…. at 15 — yeah some may brag about it… but at 30 to 40 years old he will still have problems!!! Just like girls that are molested or seduced. Some seem to have no problems in the 20′s and start having problems in their 30′s. Same with the guys .. Or are you saying guys, as long as “they get some” don’t care who it is that they have contact with and so thus are not going to have problems!

Also, by the way, you mentioned that there are a “lot” of boys that have problems and were not molested by an older woman…. well first, how do know for positive that they weren’t molested by someone?? Do they confide in you??

Hey, I will admit, in all fairness, there are a lot of “playboys” that weren’t maybe molested by an older woman — but they have some other problem! But right now we are talking about the guys who have been “seduced” by older women.

Hey, are you saying that all those boys molested (“seduced”in your words) by priests don’t have problems when they are older??? I doubt if they become Gay when they are older, they “brag” about how they were initiated into “Manhood”.

Any time an ADULT (Male or Female) steps over the line with a child (and whether you want to accept it or not a 15 year old is still a child!) — it is rape (you have heard of statutory rape, haven’t you?) — whether he was “up to the performance” or not!!! Also, by the way — not EVERY boy “seduced”/molested by an older woman runs out and “brags” about it.

    22. John Staton on January 6th, 2007 9:32 am

Anyone out there ever hear the song “oh what a night” or see the motion picture “the summer of 42″? I know adult males that had affairs with older women at that age (not me) and there was no negative effect. Anyone that thinks that the male and female sexual act is the same is too stupid to consider. It is not possible for a male of that age to be molested by a female, PERIOD!

    23. Big Lou on January 6th, 2007 10:57 am

John: Then it would be allright for my 13 year old son to go next door to have SEX with my 45 year old female neighbor. I don’t think so. We do NOT live in a third world country. Maybe you do but I don’t.

well nurturer, got an answer? Let’s make it she’s an 11yr old that’s developed early. OK with you?

    25. nurturer on January 6th, 2007 2:54 pm

Hey YoYo. Where in any of my postings have I written that ANY of this is alright?? My point is, the 15 year old BOY needs to shoulder some of the blame. As would a 15 year old CONSENTING girl. The question to them, “What were you thinking.” comes to mind. Then again, it would be a rhectorical question, wouldn’t it.

    26. Big Lou on January 6th, 2007 8:31 pm

Here’s one for you folks who feel its OK for teen boys to have sex with 41 year olds…..would you let this boy then go out with your 14 year old daughter after he has been educated so to speak by one of these women?

I bet not….I say leave the kids alone and pick on someone your own size. After all who are supposed to be the adults making the rational decisions?

    28. nurturer on January 7th, 2007 12:24 am

BIG LOU: LOL. That made me chuckle. A case of wishful thinkin’?

    29. Brad on January 7th, 2007 4:47 pm

When I was 15 at school the whole class would have given anything for 10 minutes with our gorgeous art teacher,
if one of us had managed it then in my mind that youth would have been the criminal(not the teacher). Brought up in a
rough neighbourhood, your average 15 year old boy is not normally the innocent typical victim for a predatory female teacher.
In fact its well possible that such youths have seen/known more sex and violence in their lives than their female teacher.
Its interesting to read some of the comments above it almost seems that people see their 15 year old sons as if they were still in
kindergarten, wake up, at 15 years of age 99% of all boys are masturbating daily, the other 1% are telling lies.
I feel very sorry for the teacher, not saying at all that what she did was OK but 1: I cannot imagine it having a negative effect on the youth and
2: I am sure that the publicity that this case has had and the effect on her family is more than enough punishment.
Years in jail ? Phew !

    30. nurturer on January 7th, 2007 5:21 pm

      #29. Well put.

    31. Mike on January 7th, 2007 5:57 pm

      Brad,

Who is supposed to have the common sense the 15 year old or the 41 year old….who is the adult. You cannot blame the teen for the poor judgement of the 41 year old not now not ever unless some kind of extorsion was involve and if it was her lawyers would have made that known. Once again who is the adult here?

Here’s one for you do you still behave and feel the same as you did when you were 15….of course not. I’m a totally different person from what I was at that age. I don’t see how anyone can put the fault with the young teen.

    32. Mike on January 7th, 2007 6:03 pm

Also I read the article again….seems maybe this isn’t your typical 15 year old…she seems to be showing alot of guilt so maybe it wasn’t as mutual as you think and maybe she coerced him. She’s the one who went for consuling.

Even her friends seem to blame her for what happened from the article but feel she should be forgiven.

    33. Big Lou on January 7th, 2007 8:11 pm

Mike: Of coarse it is HER fault. She is in a position of power. Even if he was 18 it is still against the law. But at 15 it is also RAPE. What if she got pregnant. Is he old enough to be a father? Worse yet say he got HIV. What then? It would not be HIGH Fives he would be getting. He would be going 6 feet under.

    34. kay zee ess on January 8th, 2007 8:28 am

Who on this topic thinks that the thought processes of males and females are the same? They are not. Of course if the teacher were a male a nailing to the wall would be not only appropriate but called for.

But some of you are in dreamland if you think that the same process of thinking is employed by an adult female. Men and women are different outside AND inside(mentally). Cut this teacher some slack, give her some kind of therapy and tell the kid to sue her pants off and make some more money. And wipe that smile of of his face as well.

      Not politically correct but honest.

    35. Mike on January 8th, 2007 2:40 pm

So woman who have sex with boys…Let them off….Men who have sex with girls…lock them up and throw away the key?

I agree with the latter….But can no way agree with the first point…thats not just…as in justice.

BTW…have any of the supporters of this woman met this young man….have you read any reports tha state he has bragged about anything?. As far as I know he hasn’t sued anyone…the therapy fees were part of the plea bargain not a civil settlement.

Once again do you want mature woman to sleep with 11, 12, 13, etc. year old boys?

    36. kay zee ess on January 9th, 2007 8:28 am

      YOWCH!

It appears someone either misreads my post, reads only what they want or completely fabricates what I stated.

I stated to give the female therapy indicating that, yes, a problem in fact does exist. I also, in my post, said that the thinking mechanisms are as a rule DIFFERENT between a male and a female. That is not “let them off..”.

Then all of a sudden the ages start tumbling down to 11, 12 and 13 years(?). Of course when one starts spelunking lower and lower in age the problem become more severe and becomes evil(and criminal) in essence.

Yes, a male in a similar situation should be locked up and the key tossed in the opposite direction. I am an unabashed chauvinist and that may be my slant on how I see this particular story. Every story is different and of course there are some women that need to be dealt with as harshly as men in child abuse. I just do not see it here.

No lawsuit yet? Give it time, my friend, give it time.

    37. Mike on January 9th, 2007 9:26 am

For some rason you see the boy as the villian….hows that, there are no reports that he bragged or even filed suit to get money. This woman is the gulty party here not the boy just be the fact she pleaded this out in a day and age where are courts just love letting these perps free.

I used the other ages because if you remember just a fe months back another perp got slapped on the wrist for having sex with a 13 year old Debra Lafave.

In my opinion giving a perp just therapy and no punishment is letting them off.

Its simple you either enforce the laws or this type of behavior will become more rampet.

    38. Mike on January 9th, 2007 9:39 am

“Knox also allegedly went to the victim’s school and posed as his parent to get him excused from class for the day.”

” The victim’s parents told 7 Action News that the ordeal has been a nightmare for them, and they wonder if Knox has other victims out there.”

This sounds like the actions of a sex predator not a confused mother of 3 who just needs therapy.

If she was doing him a favor why is he in therapy now? Maybe she messed him up more then some think?

    39. Mike on January 9th, 2007 9:55 am

“Assistant Oakland County Prosecutor Robert Giles said he didn’t object to the agreement because he knew a trial scheduled for Nov. 27 would be difficult for the teenager and his family.

“It has negatively affected him, Giles said of the teenager. “It is not easy for him in school. He is the subject of ridicule. High school is a tough place. To stand out in high school makes it more difficult.

Another news article qoute….sounds like the the boy is screwed up huh? So much for the bragging argument.

    40. shocked on January 13th, 2007 7:28 pm

Anybody taking into consideration what this has done to her family. She leaves behind a husband and kids that have to deal with this. I can’t even imagine leaving my kids to go to prison cause of a few tumbles.

    41. LastStarFighter on February 1st, 2007 1:57 am

I’ve just finish reading the various articles as there is currently another cases much like this one pending. Was it right … NO. Was this overkill in sentencing I would say YES. There has been a lot of reference to well if this had been a 41 yr old man yada yada yada. I think we have to put into perspective that male sex offenders have a serious record of killing their victims. If this was the woman’s first offense … given the circumstances I think extended probation would have been the more appropriate sentence. Her family and herself have a very long road back to any form of normality. Our society has changed day & night over the course of the past few decades. We need to get real. A 15 or 16 yr old male has sexual thoughts every 5-10 seconds throughout the day according to a report I read. Again was it right NO… should it have happened NO… but I don’t believe Justice was best served. The children of today are engaging in sexual conduct in both elementary and middle schools on a regular basis. Anal and oral sex is fully accepted and engaged in. Unless you are an Ostrich and your head is buried in the sand somewhere you need to get a grip on what is really happening out there. Our video culture oozes of sexual suggestions. Now is not the 60′s, 70′s … 80′s or 90′s… we as a society have allowed this sexual transition to occur among our children. I am not defending the woman and I am not hold the boy at fault but I do believe the prosecutor in this case was looking to further his/her career at the price of this 41 yr old mother. And that is what I am upset about… this isn’t Salem don’t conduct your Witch hunts and prosecutions .. use Prudent and reasonable common sense. Agree or disagree it’s America.
