So Joe Tacopina calls Jossy Mansur a buffoon, how professional.
So its fact because Joe Tacopina says it … right. Tacopina, why don’t you discuss the “fact” of what the original search warrant of the Van der Sloot property looked like and who altered that warrant. Why don’t you comment Joe why your client likes to “fauxtoshop” pics. You are so busy trying to spin stories about others character, why don’t you talk about your own clients?
Another fact … Tacopina you got a civil law suit dismissed in NYC not on fact or evidence, but on jurisdictional issues … Please do not spin … who is fact challenged? I hardly think you really want to deal with the facts. If that were the case you would not need to get law suits thrown out on technicalities, rather than the facts.
You will discuss the issues in an intelligent manner? Maybe you will not duck interviews with certain individuals at that point as well.

My guess is that if you did a few ‘googles’ regarding Tacopina and the NY Bar you would find not only is he an active member, but also does a lot of ‘pro bono’ stuff to make the bar look good.
What does this do and how does it translate to how he could win in NY? The our legal system is not the picture of the blindfolded ‘lady justice’ holding the balanced scale….it is about buttering up to judges, holding cocktail parties and inviting Hollywood folks who are in town as well as your favorite judges, it is about doing deeds on the backside knowing that a judge might give you a little assistance somewhere down the road.
As you have seen, it is a light form of corruption. Little bribes and old boys clubs.
Aruba is no different. The biggest difference is that they are doing this at a much high playing level. An American Tourist is murdered and government actors all cover – including judicial, law enforcement and elected officials.
Joe Taco knows this. He has friends in the NY courts. Buy a cocktail or two at the bar for a judicial intern and you may just get some advance notice of what the judge is going to do on your case (seeing that most judge’s are too lazy to write their own orders!)…..may allow you to adjust your motions.
Buying people off works in America and Aruba…..That is how Joe Taco won his case….its called ‘Home Cooking’ to those in the legal business. md

When one cannot stand on the facts of a case for guilt or innocence, they go after the technicality.
If Joe Tacopina thinks his client Joran Van der Sloot is so innocent and the facts are on his side … then fly Joran to either AL or MS and lets have a trial is a place where jurisdiction is no issue.

I remember from some TV interview that Anita said emphatically that the entire property, including the well and residence, had been searched. It appears now, she also was lying. What a farce. That entire property needs to be scraped off and every particle examined. The Dutch need to execute a search of the entire property now – it is amazing what can sometimes be found. There’s a body and/or clothing there somewhere – my money’s on it. They Sloots are obviously afraid that something will be found. I sure would not want to live on a property where there was a person buried. Some day, one of them will talk. The secrecy will drive them over the edge. It usually does.

I didn’t see the talk show, but it sounds to me, from the comments above, that Tacopino chose to do the last of these.
Unfortunately, many TV talk shows seem to thrive on people who foam at the mouth. Long on oration and controversy, but little on substance. Did anyone try to pin Tacopino down on facts, or was he just allowed to rant?

If you had proof of Joran’s alleged innocence – then you wouldn’t have had the NY case thrown out on a TECHNICALITY!! If Joran was so innocence, subject matter jurisdiction wouldn’t have mattered. BUT…if your client is as guilty as sin, Lawyering 101 says that you can’t let him on the stand to be deposed!

How would you feel if one of your daughters was missing?
How would you feel if someone like Joran was the last one seen with your daughter?
How would you feel if said he left your daughter “on the beach” because that’s what she wanted – yet you KNEW that was a lie and there was so much more that he wasn’t telling?
How would you feel when the government spokeperson said your daughter “just vanished”?
How would you feel if at every turn, efforts to find your daughter were blocked by a corrupt (or lazy) government that’s only interested in covering up for one of the good old boys sons, rather than accepting help from experienced investigators such as the FBI, who could have most likely solved the case?
How would you feel having to hear this same government AND the lawyer that represents the suspect defame your missing daughter?

What a slap in the face when someone from the Homeland now questions the case and is set out to prove the homeland son(s) may have been involved in the Natalee Holloway murder. An element called Tacopina
Last night, the attorney who is representing Joran in the US found it appropriate to explain, in a lowly way, that I am prejudiced against Joran because his father was in the team who handed over a few members of my family to the US.
There’s another element who does not know how to read Papiamento and has no notion what I have said about Joran. I have said on various occasions that I don’t know whether he is guilty or innocent! Furthermore, I don’t have any sort of prejudice against Joran or his father! I had no ide! that Paul could have been in any commission which judged who is part of my family. That’s news to me!
Joe Tacopina, with his witchy style of bring things forward, forcing a conclusion which doesn’t exist, wants to defend a habitual, chronic liar, who has a confirmed history of violence.
Joran was known in his school as a kid who bullied younger kids; he was described by a teacher as a habitual liar; he was caught with his hands in the lockers of other kids; he was under treatment for his inability to control his anger and the violent part of his character; he was gambling for money in a casino, at an age where it is prohibited to set foot in a casino, and a few times accompanied by his father!
Into what sort of ‘saint’ does Tacopina want to turn Joran? He doesn’t know that Joran lied that Deepak came to pick him up at the beach, and when Deepak stood up and said that it’s not true, he then changed to saying it was Satish. When Satish also stood up and said that it wasn’t true, he left the question hanging, and it will be good of Tacopina, in his great wisdom, to explain to us how Joran arrived at his house in the morning hours, with or without shoes!
Another point which Tacopina, in his febrile attempt to defend his client, does not take into account is the following: how Deepak could have come to pick up Joran at the beach, if Joran declared to 4 Police officers on the 13 of June 2005 that Deepak was with him at the beach, that Deepak went back towards the girl, where he had left her sleeping on the sand, and that he believes that Deepak raped and then killed the girl? Tacopina can be a good attorney, but in this case he is far from home!
And how does Tacopina explain the fact that Joran told Police that they had sex with Natalee when she was coming in and out of consciousness, and then on television he said that because he did not have a prophylactic he didn’t have sex with her! Who does Tacopina take us for?
For idiots? A 17-year-old kid with only one thing on his mind, is going to miss such an opportunity because he has no protection? And Tacopina believes Joran when he told Greta that he NEVER had sexual relations with a girl without using a condom? Come now, Mister Tacopina, give us at least a little more consideration and stop insulting our intelligence!
Tacopina also forgets, perhaps voluntarily?. That his client admitted to Police that they took Natalee to his apartment from Carlos and Charlies! How could he be at his apartment with Natalee and at the same time on the beach with her? It would be good for Tacopina to explain to us the mathematics of the timeline, because in our mathematics, you cannot be in two different places at the same time!
On one hand, I enjoyed Tacopina, because he made me laugh with his ridiculous statements. If in reality he is an attorney interested in the truth, he would not be planting so many lies which could even compete with those of his client.
Finally (for now) how does Tacopina explain the concrete fact that his client was the last one who was with Natalee at the time that she disappeared and suddenly, he doesn’t know what happened to her?
Was there magic involved? Tacopina believes that Yomanda, Negro Felipe or Maria Lionza could have been involved? Because it is impossible that Joran doesn’t know what happened to Natalee if he was the last person who was with Natalee in his apartment, or on the beach, like he has admitted on so many occasions!
The types of expressions out of Tacopina do not seem those of a serious person, and even less of those of an attorney who believes in the truth.
It could be his duty to defend his client, whether he believes he is guilty or innocent, but let it be done in a professional way, acknowledging Joran’s multiple lies, and not trying to reduce them to only two, like he tried to do last night! If he wants, I can explain how many lies and changing stories Joran offered Police. We are very well aware of everything!

Jude, jude, jude – of course he was successful in representing JPVDS. The suit sought to establish New York as the city of jurisdiction and compel Paulus and Joran to testify in the case. A New York judge needed to agree with the jurisdictional claim. She did not. That would be called winning.
BTW – maybe if JQK actually argued the case in front of the judge, rather than having someone else do it while he sat there and looked pretty, it might have been a different outcome.
Considering that Joran van der Sloot is still officially a suspect (we haven’t heard differently from Aruba yet), this klutz’s preening of himself on his Web site seems to be a bit premature, to say the least.

Congrats to my pal Joe Tacopina who represents Joran van Der Sloot in the New York civil lawsuit filed against him by Natalee Holloways’ parents. The Judge, quite properly in my view, has dismissed the lawsuit, finding no reason for it to have been filed in New York.
The lawsuit was dismissed by Judge Barbara Kapnick, who said it shouldn’t have been filed in Manhattan. She rejected an argument that if the case were filed in Aruba, it would prompt a media frenzy that could interfere with the investigation.
STOP LYING THE CASE WAS NOT DISMISSED ON EVIDENCE ONLY JURISTICTION
Natalee is happy in her new home, and wants everyone to leave Joran alone.
