Just Another Day In Paradise … 4 Tons of Cocaine Seized off the Caribbean island of Martinique & Gambling Ring Busted

The French Navy intercepted and boarded on November 15, 2005 a Panamanian registered cargo ship headed for Spain. They confiscated about 4 tons of cocaine hidden in the ships structure.

In New York a massive gambling ring was busted when a laptop owned by James Giordano was was seized during a police search warrant of his hotel room.

The covert operation on June 15 helped unlock a sophisticated billion-dollar-a-year gambling scheme that rivaled casino sports betting, authorities said at a news conference announcing charges against Giordano and 26 other defendants.

Giordano, 52, was arrested early Wednesday by FBI agents who had to scale the walls of his fortess-like Florida compound. Investigators also arrested Frank Falzarano, a former scout for the Washington Nationals, at his Long Island home.

“This is the largest illegal gambling operation we have ever encountered,” said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

The operation consisted of search warrants executed in several locations resulted in the seizure of gambling records, computers and hundreds of millions of dollars in property.

The defendants laundered and stashed away “untold millions of dollars” using shell corporations and bank accounts in Central America, the Caribbean, Switzerland, Hong Kong and elsewhere, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. (Yahoo News)

Gee, you don’t think some of our Caribbean “allies” could be involved, do you? Like the Aruba government, so stalwart in its fight against drugs … that is, unless it’s some of their own people pushing them ….

Drugs in the Caribbean?? Say it ain’t so!

And I want to know more about this bust with Giordano and his laptop but have not been able to find anything.

If anyone has more, please post links as this is VERY interesting. I wonder who else was named but would bet there are at least a few familiar names. At least from the Calle cartel or banking community if not Arubans.
