Buffalo Teacher Exiled For Having Sex With Student

Malcolm Watson, a teacher at a Buffalo private school was caught with a 15 year old student in a mall parking lot. The teacher was convicted for sexual abuse on a minor. Fairly typical, if horrifying, so far.

However in this case, the instructor was not sentenced to jail, he was exiled instead. You see he lives in Canada with his Canadian wife and 3 children and now will not be allowed in the country for 3 years except to visit his probation officer. If the predator did not take this sentence he was facing a year in jail in Buffalo.

I am amazed that the judge made this offer and that this is even an alternative. The  man in my opinion should serve his time and then be denied entry for life into the United States.

The fun part is that he is not a Canadian citizen, and Canada does not have to let a convicted sex offender live in their country. He may be forced to leave there.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

I think the judge should let his teenage son/daughter spend some one-on-one time with this perv.

But we all know that judge would never place his own child in danger. Instead, he’s putting everyone else’s children in danger by allowing this perv to roam the streets a free man.

Life without parole is a sentence I’m comfortable with for first time offenders against children. Repeat offenders should be sentenced a date with the needle.

We need a system where judges are held accountable to the people…. what women and children don’t matter in this country to this group of people?

    4. Miss-Underestimated on October 23rd, 2006 10:39 am

Mrs. Red, you nailed it, time to vote the judges gone.
Women and children do not matter to our judical system.. What countries does that remind you of?

Our judges should be bound legally to uphold the laws.
Does anyone know if there is a website that may list when all of these judges deviate from the rule of law? Maybe someone should make one up. Call it Judge the Judge?

I wonder if anyone consulted Canada’s wishes in the matter. They might be a trifle miffed that they are getting our perverts … though his having a Canadian family is relevant.

Jail in Buffalo, N.Y., or life in Canada … hard to say which is tougher.

(Just a joke. Canada is a tremendous country. It seems that every so often Canada does something to help out the U.S. … I recall distinctly how, just after 9/11, some of their fire trucks and emergency aid people piled into their vehicles and drove down to NYC without being asked … and we fall all over ourselves with gratitude.

Soon after, we forget about them as usual.)

I understood this was consensual. I know it is still
a crime, her being a minor, however, should we treat
him different than the American Female Teachers???>
I say the Judge made a good choice.

I had no idea that Canada didn’t allow registered sex offenders to live in their country. That is very surprising. I guess there is probably a lot I don’t know about Canada, but personally I think this is great.

    14. GretaMAL on October 23rd, 2006 4:48 pm

richard, CANADA is a GREAT country and helps out the USA anytime it can. I would not make FUN of them but that is just my opinion.

    15. GretaMAL on October 23rd, 2006 5:03 pm

chloe, WELCOME BACK !!!!!!! I missed you !!!!!!!!!!!! How have you been ??????????? I agree with you about Canada !!!!

We don’t like all the perverts we get from other countries especially the illegal aliens but we have to deal with them the best we can even with our over-crowded prisons. Allowing the man back on the street immediately after doing this and just pushing him off on this country is sort of just passing the buck.

I think he should have not been given that option as he can just do it again in a different location. Canada should have sentenced him to serve time in jail with rehab which I know doesn’t work but might at least keep him away from children for that period of time he would be in jail.

Maybe the U.S. should start exiling all the criminals that come here and commit crimes for we all know the percentage of crimes committed by illegals is extremely high. Would save us the cost of having them in jail. I find this action just a little bit insulting to the U.S. Each country should deal with the criminals that commit crimes where the crime is committed and not push off on others and expose our children to this kind of person. Obviously they care nothing about the children with whom he will come in contact, just don’t want the cost of his jail time.

Well, neither do we on all those who come here and commit crimes. But we deal with it.

I am canadian and i’ve been following this story as buffalo is very close and St.Catherines where this fellow will be is even closer.

I think it should be clear cut….touch a child and your gone. Automatic time. I think the girls parents are equally sick, or perhaps just ignorant. Their doing backflips knowing he’ll be in canada, why thank god that sick man is across the bored were he can now abuse canadian children just so our daughter wont have to see him in court.

35 year old man and a 15 year old girl.

What a sick state our world is in.

The comment: “The man in my opinion should serve his time and then be denied entry for life into the United States.”

You cannot deny entry to your own citizen. Anyone who committed a crime in that country should serve time in that country, whether he is a citizen or not, then get deported to the country of origin. In the case of Watson, he should serve time in jail in the USA, then DENIED entry in Canada, where he is NOT a citizen of.

As a former student of this man, let me clear up a thing or two. one- he didn’t have sex with her. They were caught in a car “kissing and fondling”.

and two- he was never a pervert. he made a horrifically bad, pathetic, and ridiculous choice, but he was not a pervert. he was not “sick”. I am in no way defending his actions, but I think we need to realize that he is a real person, who is flawed and obviously needs to face the consequences of his actions. But he is also highly intelligent, well-educated, hard-working and compassionate. We from his former school were upset and incredibly surprised to hear of his arrest- these actions are nothing like the man we knew.
