Glad the Courts Provide so much Humanity to those who Show none to Others … Judge gives stay of execution to Obese Cult Leader Jeffrey Lundgren

What on earth is going on in this country where convicted killers, rapists and child molesters Jeffrey Lundgrenare being provided more compassion than the victims that fell prey to their crimes.

There is a reason why they call it justice and a reason why they call it the death penalty. The death penalty is given to those who with malice and forethought have no problem taking away others human rights or life. However, judges in this country in this day and age are a misguided in their sentencing and now with “stays of execution”. A while back a judge in their infinite wisdom refused to give a child molester prison time because he was too short to survive in prison.

Now U.S. District Judge Gregory Frost has delayed the execution of a former cult leader, Jeffrey Lundgren, and convicted murderer. Why you ask? Everyone better sit down and put down all sharp objects.

A convicted murderer on death row was given a stay of execution because he is obese and diabetic. Lungren and his attorney successfully argued that his condition “will put him at a greater risk for suffering during lethal injection.” Amazing how his obesity and diabetes did not prevent him from killing 5 people. So are all defense attorneys now going to tell their death row clients to over eat, get no exercise and have the preferred contraband of choice be sticks of butter?

Jeffrey Lundgren, once a self-styled prophet in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was scheduled to die Oct. 24 for the shooting deaths of his followers, Dennis and Cheryl Avery, and their three daughters, ages 7 to 13, on April 17, 1989.

Some how a bleeding heart judge thinks its perfectly ok to prevent suffering to a scumbag that had no problem providing pain and suffering to others. This is justice in 2006. Who is this judge kidding? The sedative would knock the killer out while the other cocktail would rightfully execute the convicted killer. Do we honestly care if there is a little suffering, not that there would probably be any. Maybe the good people of Ohio can petition the Governor to switch to a “firing squad”. That should be rather abrupt and painless.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Gregory Frost granted Lundgren’s request for intervention based on his arguments that the current lethal injection protocols are insufficient to ensure that he will not suffer “excruciating and conscious pain.”

Moreover, Lundgren’s lawyer claims that he suffers from medical conditions that would interfere with the effectiveness of the lethal cocktail and exacerbate his suffering.

Why can’t all executions happen like in Texas? Michael Johnson, death row inmate killed himself prior to his execution for a 1995 murder. Johnson left a message in blood on the prison wall, “I DIDN’T DO IT.” How many times have we heard that one?

Michael Johnson, 29, was found dead at 2:45 a.m. lying in a pool of blood after he used a makeshift metal blade to cut his jugular vein and an artery in his right arm, Texas prison spokeswoman Michelle Lyons said.

Johnson, who was set to be executed at 6 p.m., was convicted and sentenced to die for the September 10, 1995, shooting death of Jeff Wetterman, 27, during a convenience store robbery in the central Texas town of Lorena.

Clearly, if this guy is obese, it’s the fault of the state of Ohio and the diet that is given to inmates. I am filled with compassion for the abuse of this poor person’s human rights, and fully endorse a move by the ACLU or a similar group to sue the state for denying this gentleman the right to healthy food.

The answer, clearly, is to release him and put him on a disability pension.

Why is he in jail in the first place? Well, hey, water over the dam … or blood … anyway, no point in worrying about the details when we’ve got a real LIVE VICTIM in front of us!

This is unbelievable. The man killed a family of five, including three little girls, in 1989. I assume he has been on death row for quite a few years, up to 15 or more. The prison controls his diet. So why in God’s name is this man obese?

I might be missing something here, but this is an easy predicament to resolve. I like Red’s idea of a firing squad–or just one bullet to the head. Done. Simple. Lights out.

I think two bullets to the head, just like he did to the seven year old girl. He shot her once and then tried to shoot through the same bullet hole according to the prosecutor who tried the case. What a POS,

      Obese? Geesh. This is weird.

AZ Lady … got an even better idea.

We can combine two posts and fix the problem of the OH tax payers. Lets put the obese, diabetic convicted murderer in the cross walk and have the naked, drugged out woman from the previous post run into him like she did the poor innocent pedestrian.

At least she will be doing a civic duty while stoned out of her mind.

Good idea.Let Teddy drive a backup car,or use bigger needles, who really cares. The bill of rights does not bar a pain in an execution.read how the Nazi’s executed by the US after Nuremberg were killed, and who hung.Even Stalin was shocked.Oh whatever, let him die by whatever,it doesn’t matter,Candygirl

Just stop the insulin and allow him to slip into a painless diabetic coma and drift away into his destiny. Saves the state the expense of an execution, and no one can say that he suffered excessively. This is an easy one!

just boil him in oil, and forget about it. he isn’t worth anymore court time.

Execution has got to be cheaper than feeding and medicating this FAT MURDERER These judges need reality checks. Did the judge ever stop and think the people he killed would liked to have a judge say hey Jeffery you can’t kill these people, they are too (short, fat, etc)

Voters gEt the judges out of office and like NOW. Actually, now that all of these “gray areas” are popping up. Maybe they should have debates for the judges and ask them what they would do in these cases. These judges are suppose to UPHOLD the law, and unless you are a supreme justice you DO NOT MAKE THE LAW, ONLY UPHOLD.

    10. dennisintn on October 20th, 2006 12:16 pm

most judges are afraid of doing anything that would attract the attention of the a.c.l.u. and their relentlessly stupid, expensive, and time consuming antics.

      Dennis

That’s not an excuse to uphold the law, if they are that spineless they shouldn’t be judges.

I’m all for helping out the rapists in stopping their crimes by cutting off their privates and then also their hands…if need be their feet too…

This way, they will never have to use the excuse that they just could not stop it…(compulsive behavior)….

Lets help stop the criminal – sounds like a win win :o )

Some stories need no comments, the story speaks for itself. I struggle with the death penalty myself, sometimes I think to let these people sit in prison for years is a greater punishment, but then I see someone like John Couey and I can understand.

      re #10 you’re right.
How can we elect judges who are NOT afraid of the aclu…..
Between judges who like using penis pumps in court to judges that won’t send someone to prison because they’e too short…what’s this country coming to? or better still, where is it headed?

    16. Patti on October 22nd, 2006 12:24 am

Who cares what the judges say….

When you got an attorney like this
      guy it doesn’t matter which
      judge he’s in front of.

Sounds to me like he sold his soul
      to the Devid, to me.

      ATTORNEY INSTEAD!!??!?!?

      Have a nice weekend!!!
