Italian Nun Murdered in Cold Blood in Somalia Over Pope’s Comments

Nun_murdered_in_SomaliaIn an act of retaliation to the Pope’s comments concerning the Islam, an Italian Nun was murdered in cold blood in cold blood. The Nun was working at a children’s hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia. Her bodyguard, and who in their right mind would ever imagine a Nun needing a bodyguard, was also murdered in this horrific attack.

To make it worse, Islamic leaders in Somalia are inciting the population saying such calming things such as “They insult the Muslim world, kill Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine, their leader is (U.S. President George W.) Bush and the Pope is part of it.”

How can we have a reasonable dialog in this part of the world when the leadership is bent on misinterpreting every statement and trying to create war at every opportunity?

Spinach E Coli Outbreak Forces Stores To Pull Product

Spinach_ecoliThe FDA put out a warning to the nation warning that fresh spinach may be infected with E-coli and 1 person has died and 100’s of others are sick in this outbreak. The report has caused stores to pull their inventory nationwide. Cases of the e coli poisoning from fresh spinach include Wisconsin, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming, The reports from school lunchrooms of wild celebrations have not been confirmed.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to eat fresh spinach and Natural Selection Foods LLC recalled its packaged spinach throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The move came as a precaution after federal health officials said some of those hospitalized reported eating brands of prepackaged spinach distributed by the company. The officials stressed that the bacteria had not been isolated in products sold by the holding company, based in San Juan Bautista, Calif., and known for Earthbound Farm and other brands. As the investigation continues, other brands may be implicated, officials said. via  Yahoo! News

UPDATE: Second Company Is Implicated in Outbreak Linked to Spinach

A second company in California has been implicated in the E. coli outbreak linked to spinach, the Food and Drug Administration said late Sunday, and the number of identified victims is still rising.

The newly identified company, River Ranch Fresh Foods, obtained salad that included spinach from the first company implicated, Natural Selection Foods of San Juan Bautista, Calif. The spinach that passed through River Ranch was sold under the brand names Farmers Market, Hy-Vee, and Fresh and Easy.

The investigation is proceeding in what amounts to a rearview mirror, with state and local health officials receiving reports of illness, asking people what they ate and searching for the source. To identify the new company, officials examined Natural Selection’s records and found it had supplied River Ranch. (NY Times)

Time Magazine – Are They Trying To Set National Policy

Time_Lame_CoverUsually when a news magazine takes a swag at prognostication they do it in the side bar of the main article. But not Time Magazine this week. They must be so hard up looking at their circulation declining that they dedicated the cover to a potential war with Iran, and how the United States would fight it and manage it.

Combine this with an interview of the President of Iran, and the subtitle “And how to avoid it”, it looks like a poor attempt to try to influence the government to keep from interfering in the region. A political and moral peace activist attack on the diplomacy of the country to try to force the present government from taking actions that could provide long term peace and stability.

Pretty sad in my opinion.

Life Imitating Art, Imitating Life … Body Washes Ashore While Filming CSI Miami

Image the surprise and consternation of the director when scene takes place during a TV filmCSI_Miami shooting that is not what the script calls for. The director screams, “CUT”!!! What is that prop doing in this shot?” One could have envisioned this occurring last Friday when an actual body washed ashore during the filming of CSI Miami. Imagine that, irony indeed.

MIAMI (AP) — A man’s body floated up near where a crew was filming a scene for the crime show “CSI: Miami,” authorities said.

The body washed up early Friday in Biscayne Bay at Bicentennial Park, which film crews were using as a helicopter staging ground for aerial shots of a fictional offshore investigation for the CBS show, police said.

It appears that this was not the first time such an event happened to the CSI Miami set.
