Duane “Dog” Chapman of the famed “Dog The Bounty Hunter” show was released on bail 
after being arrested in connection with the 2003 Andrew Luster capture in Mexico. The irony of the situation is uncanny and would be funny if it were not so pathetic.
HONOLULU – TV reality star Duane “Dog” Chapman and two co-stars accused of illegal detention and conspiracy in the bounty hunters’ capture of a cosmetics company heir in Mexico posted bail and were released Friday.
Chapman was released on $300,000 bail after spending the night in a federal detention center and his co-stars on the popular A&E show “Dog The Bounty Hunter” were freed on $100,000 bail each.
The fact that Mexico authorities wants Duane Chapman extradited back to Mexico for charges of misdemeanor detainment borders on the absurd. Many pundits think that a US Court may not grant the extradition on the long run. Until that happens, The Bounty Hunter is the hunted.
The men are now required to wear electronic monitoring devices until they return to court for extradition hearings to face trial in Mexico. The judge said they were not flight risks.
Chapman and his tattooed crew were ordered to surrender their passports, to stay in Hawaii and not possess any firearms.
Defense attorney Brook Hart, who successfully argued during the 1-hour, 10-minute hearing that his clients have no reason to be locked up, called the devices “overkill” but did not object to their use.
“It’s ironic that the bounty hunter would go around with a bracelet while arresting people. But so be it,” he said.

The extradition of the man who once ran the Arellano Felix drug clan was a victory for U.S. officials who have been pushing Mexico to send them more drug lords.
Arellano Felix was handed over in the Texas border town of Matamoros after serving a 10-year sentence in Mexico. He will be taken to California to face trial on charges stemming from a 1980 case in which he allegedly sold cocaine to an undercover police officer in the United States.
U.S. authorities requested Arellano Felix’s extradition on June 2, 2003. A federal judge approved that request in 2004, but it took two years for the Foreign Relations Department to send him north.

Glad to hear he is out, I hope the US don’t extradite him. If only they spent as much time and money worrying about the real criminals.

This man is doing society good not evil. You would think the Mexican Government has better things to do like stop illegal’s and the drugs from crossing the boarders. Or, here is a thought, help their own people by creating jobs. Apparently the Mexican Government didn’t care if there was a weirdo and rapist running around. Send Luster back to Mexico for good. They can keep him and we do not have to pay for his incarceration in the U.S.
Dog did an illegal act in a foreign country. He was arrested, paid bail and then skipped. He did exactly what he nabs people for here in the US. The judge gave him 3 years to correct this . He is not above the law, even Mexican law. He has to face his punishment. He did a great thing in finding Luster-but that doesn’t excuse him from jumping bail.
If he didn’t break the law he would NOT be in this position. I guess since he is RICH and FAMOUS he now joins the club with, M. Jackson, O. J., Robert Blake, Kobe Bryant, and the Kennedy’s .
I wonder if DOG could have grabbed this Andrew Luster in a more covert manner, not drawing attention to himself and his crew and just getting him across the border, in a bus say. Or a rented car. Then again, if the ‘Judicial’ or ‘Comandante de Policia’ were frequent ‘guests’ of Luster’s, it might have been difficult.
jojo, EXCELLENT POST. I like dog and his show but that does NOT put him above the LAW. Sure dog has done a GREAT job here in the USA getting scum off the streets but he went to Mexico knowing he was going to break the law. IMO he did wrong and shoud be punished !!Nobody has the right to take the law into their own hands !!!NOT EVEN DOG !!!
Jojo, you and Kelmal, need to read a bit of Mexico’s history in dealing with Americans and whether or not they have done anything illegal. Most of the time, like Aruba, Mexico is on the wrong side of the law.

There are other ironies here:
1. If Mexico wanted to prosecute Dog, they’d have to have him extradited to Mexico. This is something they routinely refuse to do to Mexicans suspected of things like murder and rape who have fled to Mexico. Hypocritical jerks.
2. Mexico worked hard to get him picked up in America. If only they had the same energy in picking up Mexican lawbreakers in America, you know, the 11 million or so Mexican citizens who vioate OUR laws on a daily basis. Oh wait.. they provide them booklets on how to commit these crimes. Hypocritical jerks.
Here again is a perfect example of johnm-now kemal craving attention and everyone feeding it’s hunger for recognition. Respond and it will come back again and again. Don’t respond and it will go away.
We cannot get Mexico to extradite suspected murderers so why should we keep our end of the agreement if they do not honor theirs? Reminds me of the Dutch who refuse to extradite a terrorist suspect in 9/11 because we have the death penalty. They don’t respect OUR laws but seem to think we are the only ones required to play by the rules.
BTW, there has been a sort of Marathon of Dog the Bounty Hunter on A&E all afternoon and evening.
And there is a difference in committing a violent crime such as murder and breaking a regulatory law. This sounds to me like the old shakedown routine. What I think they really want to money from Dog, like a ridiculously high fine or something of that sort.
How many suspected murderers has Mexico refused to extradite or even try to find? Why didn’t they find Luster and hand him over to this country themselves if they don’t want someone like Dog to do so?

I think Mexico should worry more about all the THOUSANDS of illegal immigrant’s crossing over the boarder in the US and dumping more problems on us, instead of ONE American crossing over the MEXICAN boarder to get a psycho off the streets!
This is ridiculous. The Mexican government needs to worry about purging their corrupt ranks, fixing their economy, and much more. And the US Marshalls have more important work than to arrest one of the good guys for a ridiculously minor crime in Mexico.

I was raised in Tampa…I get it 100% where the illegal alien problem is concerned. Unfortunately, Florida also has the onslaught of Cuban immigrants. That bunch has destroyed Miami as well as much of Central & Southern parts of the state.

We arrest “Dog” at the request of the Mexican government becasue the broke one of “their laws”.
Yet we let between 11 and 20 million illegal mexican immigrants go free in this country even though they broke “our laws”.
YOu can’t make this stuff up. Mexico is mad because they HID this pervert in plain site and the Dog went down and got him. He posted bail and then skipped, true. Its a misdemeanor and will go away. But the good ole USA still plays by the rules, and lets others get a pass.
Time to write to US Senators and tell them your vote will be for someone else next time if they don’t get their collective behinds together.

Screw Mexico. After all that is what they are doing to us, by encouraging their low lifes (who won’t even learn English) to come to the states. The largest Mexican economy is getting money sent back to that corrupt country from the illegals that are honored by our so called “free press”. Dog should never have had to go to Mexico to pick up that prick. If he could find the Max Factor aire then the Mexican Police should have had no problem, unless they are enept. On second thought I guess Dog had to go and do the job.
