Ginsburg Asleep at the Bench
During the Supreme Court session yesterday discussing the volatile Texas Redistricting Case (i.e. Tom Delay et al…), Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell asleep for about 15 minutes.
The subject matter was extremely technical, and near the end of the argument Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dozed in her chair. Justices David Souter and Samuel Alito, who flank the 72-year-old, looked at her but did not give her a nudge. via AP
The Bloggers have weighed in with Patterico noticing that the media barely mentioned the occurrence, but would have made it a front page story if the sleeper had been Scalia or Thomas. RightWinged asks “Does She Always Do This?”. Gina Cobb says “Lets Give Her a Break, not all cases are fascinating.
And the conventional wisdom coming out of the blogosphere is that the redistricting will stand and not be overturned by the Supreme Court.
Joran Van der Sloot Goes “On The Record” Part 1. aka Keep Talking Joran
Last night Joran Van Der Sloot spoke with Greta Van Susteren to discuss the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Greta did a deposition type-style interview with Joran and got him on record in saying many things.
The transcripts from “On The Record”.
Video also available of Part 1 of the interview.
A couple of interesting things in watching the Joran Van der Sloot interview is the heat rash blotches that begin and Joran’s ears.
The following are just some of the many quotes from Joran Van der Sloot. Go to Greta’s web site, view and read the interview again. There are some more inconsistencies and hard to believe comments.
VAN DER SLOOT: No. I have an apartment in my house, so it’s, like, away, kind of away from the house. And I called him, and he just came into my room with his brother. I didn’t know at that point his brother was coming with him. But he came at that point in my room with his brother, and I was just printing out some work for school for the next day that I had to hand in. And I just finished that up. So I came into my room, and then they were there.
VAN SUSTEREN: When you arrived at Carlos ‘n Charlie’s, any idea about what time it is?
VAN DER SLOOT: It was probably, you know, 12:15, I think, 12:30 maybe.
VAN SUSTEREN: How late does it stay open?
VAN DER SLOOT: That night it was open until 1:00 AM.
VAN SUSTEREN: Is there a way to describe her, I mean, and whether she seemed or appeared to be, you know, drinking? Did she seem to be drunk?
VAN DER SLOOT: Oh… she’d been drinking, but she wasn’t drunk. I mean, she knew what she was doing. And you know, all the people there were drinking, as well. I mean, that’s just — that’s normal when you go out and have a drink with your friends.

Beth Twitty Brings “Save Yourself” Program to Ball State University
Beth Twitty later today will bring her Project “Save Yourself” to Muncie, IN and Ball State University. As Beth Twitty stated why she began the project, “I always said I wanted to give something back. This is a way to show our gratitude.”
Twitty will speak at 5 p.m. in the Ball State University Student Center. The program is sponsored by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department and is free to all area high school and college students. Twitty recently spoke to The Star about “Save Yourself.”
Q: What do you hope to accomplish with your speaking engagements (Save Yourself Program)?
A: Our ultimate goal is to provide information to help young people be safe when traveling on their own. This is the time when lots of students will be heading to warmer climates for spring break. I just want them to think about their safety.

Aruba’s Most Wanted … Joran Van der Sloot? Nope Greta Van Susteren
All the while we thought the Aruban authorities were hot on the tail of Joran Van der Sloot. We were obviously wrong. What else can possibly go on in what has become a complete farce.
(Hat Tip: Klaasend)
It is a wonderment that Aruba and the Aruban police do not understand nor comprehend that millions of eyes are upon them as this foolishness continues. All the while, Natalee Holloway remains missing. America watches as they waited ten days to arrest the primary suspects, yet they certainly jumped to attention when it was an American reporter.
We were told late last night by a reporter in Aruba that the police are indeed looking for someone: me! Yes, I am now “wanted” in Aruba… and this is so rich, that I could not think it up. I am just not that clever to make this stuff up.
As we left, the front door opened of the Kalpoe house opened and, since I was on the house side of the car, I jumped out to go to the door expecting them to let me in as they always have. This is what happened all last summer when we were in Aruba. Like I noted above, I have been invited in the home several times. As I approached the house, the door slammed shut. I called out, “Nadira, Nadira” — Deepak and Satish’s mother’s name — and suddenly very loud yelling came from the other side of the door. This was a reaction I had never received from them before.

If this situation was not so serious this would be truly comical. However, I have to admit it was a rather bit funny that they could not find Greta either.
Police also went to the two newspapers to ask that they publish requests for help to locate me. (They should have looked in 2D on US Air!) One paper declined to report the lookout for me, one chose to report it.
Now can they please get back to their business at hand and find Natalee Holloway and bring those responsible to justice.
UPDATE: Search for Greta Continues
