‘Gilligan, (Bob Denver) Dies at the age of 70, Rest In Peace Little Buddy

Bob-Denver-Gilligan-s-IslandAnother piece of my childhood just left today. Bob Denver, best known for his portrayal of Gilligan, on Gilligan’s Island passed peacefully September 2nd, 2005 surrounded by his family .

Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy first mate Gilligan on the 1960s television show “Gilligan’s Island” made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died, his agent confirmed Tuesday. He was 70. Denver, who underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery earlier this year, died Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina, according to agent Mike Eisenstadt.

The three hour tour turned into a three year run for the series as it lasted on CBS from 1964 to 1967. Even back in those days critics knew nothing, as much as the TV critics spurned the show, the viewers loved it.

GilliganPancakes2“Gilligan’s Island” lasted on CBS from 1964 to 1967, and it was revived in later seasons with three high-rated TV movies.

TV critics hooted at “Gilligan’s Island,” but audiences adored it. Writer-creator Sherwood Schwartz insisted that the show had social meaning along with the laughs: “I knew that by assembling seven different people and forcing them to live together, the show would have great philosophical implications.”

From the AP:

Bob Denver, the bumbling namesake of ”Gilligan’s Island” who embarked on what was supposed to be a three-hour tour and endeared himself to generations of TV fans, has died at age 70.

He died Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina of complications from treatment he was receiving for cancer, his agent, Mike Eisenstadt, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

AOL;

“One thing I can say about Bob and the show is he entertained generations, and everybody approached us and him in particular with love and a smile,” said Russell Johnson, who played the eggheaded professor on “Gilligan’s Island.” “That’s a tremendous legacy for someone from Hollywood to leave.”

So long “Little Buddy” and God Bless.

Roberts May Get 25 Democratic Votes?

That is the word coming from Elana Schor over at the The Hill,. a newspaper that bill itself as The Newspaper for and about the U.S. Congress. According to this, the Democrats are nervous about being seen as contentious about a nominee whom is perceived to not be a very dangerous threat to American’s, while we are in the midst of a national crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Liberal wing of the party has been wanting to make this a battle royale, and to deny them will hurt the Democrat and the Far Left Causes in important fund raising. They have been counting on a pitch battle to fire up the troops since the retirement announcement has been made by Sandra Day O’Connor. Now it looks like the confirmation process will be a formality for John Roberts.

Democratic lobbyists’ greatest concern about Roberts is not pinning down his positions on federal preemption or civil rights, despite the recent Monday Group guest appearance of Wade Henderson, president of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. Many K Street Democrats instead questioned what they characterized as poorly coordinated messaging from liberal groups that has unduly influenced some lawmakers.

“The other dirty little secret the Democrats have to deal with is … there may be some in party who see it as, ‘It would be worthwhile to drag it out a little bit so we can raise some money off the deal’” from left-wing special interests, a Monday Group member said. “That’s shortsighted, and politically dangerous too.”

Joran Van der Sloot Ignored The Reporter’s Questions? REALLY?

As earlier posted, “Joran Van der Sloot and his father arrived at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, ignored questions from reporters, and quickly departed,“according to CNN. Not only were there photos of what appears to be reporters asking Joran questions and he appearing to answer them, but we now have the following video of Joran answering reporter’s questions via Joran Van Der Sloot.blogsot.

CNN seems to have got the story about as correct as Fox News has got the title of their story correct; Ex-Aruba Suspect Arrives in Netherlands. Newsflash to Fox News, Joran Van der Sloot is still a suspect in the disappearance and sexual assault of Natalee Holloway. Joran is NOT AN EX- Suspect. HE IS A SUSPECT, thus the reasons why there were conditions upon his release.

Three suspects in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway were released from jail in Aruba on Saturday. A judge ruled that they could go free, but they still have to stay in Dutch territory, and be available to police.

The following are more photos of Joran Van der Sloot ignoring the reporters.

He has come back to the Netherlands for further education. He had wanted to take up study in the US but under the terms of his release from custody he may only travel within the Kingdom of the Netherlands (the Netherlands, Aruba and the Dutch Antilles).

As reported by CNN:

Joran van der Sloot and his father arrived at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, ignored questions from reporters, and quickly departed. The 18-year-old was to attend college in Holland, his mother said.

It would appear that Joran will begin his future and college in the Netherlands after spending time in prison as a suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Joran Van der Sloot Joran Holl 3an the two other suspects were released but with the condition “they remain available to police”. To many the distance between The Netherlands and Aruba hardly seems or gives the appearance of making one available to authorities when one is still a suspect in two alleged crimes.

Van der Sloot, a resident of Aruba, and two Surinamese brothers who were suspects in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway were released on condition they remain available to police.

This is compared to the stark contrast of Beth Holloway Twitty’s experience in leaving Aruba after having “exhausted” all her avenues.”
