Interview With Arlene Ellis-Schipper and Beth Holloways Twitty’s Reaction

From Fox News Big Story Sunday Sept 18 (Hat Tip: SMS)

Reporter: Supposedly now, there is this audio tape with Deepak Kalpoe supposedly admitting that he, his brother and Joran had sex with NH the night she disappeared. Let me ask you if you had the person who made the Arlenerecording willing to testify as to how he made it, and how the conversation went down, would that be admissible in Aruban court?

Arlene: Well first of all yes, that would be admissible but, what you need to get this in court is real evidence. So far, we have seen a lot of not true things. We need the facts in this case. The tape that we heard was not enough evidence in my opinion to constitute a criminal offense there has been a lot of reporting in this case based on innuendo. For instance, the release during the hurricane to sweep things under the rug. Everything in this case until now in my opinion has been done according to the law so we need to stick to the facts.

Reporter: You have Joran supposedly confessing that Natalee was fading in and out of consciousness the night she disappeared. Now another one of the would be suspects saying all three had sex with her. That at least suggests there was non consensual sex with Natalee and one or more of these boys. Couldn’t you at least see this turning into a sex crime charge?

Arlene: Well, potentially yes but again, we need to look at facts whether the evidence, or so called evidence is enough. First of all, those declarations need to be signed by the suspects .You need sustaining evidence to make a case. Like in every civilized country, there is a benchmark of the amount of evidence that the prosecutor needs to show the judge to make it a case. As of now, it hasn’t been done.

The interview with Arlene Ellis-Schiffer although technically legally correct and that is what her job is to provide legal analysis does show and highlight the frustration level of gaining evidence. It is rather troubling when one has a tape and records of admissions of potential crimes but that is not enough as declarations then need be signed by the suspects. The following is Beth’s reaction to the interview.

Reporter: Arlene says she doesn’t believe the tape is sufficient evidence for a sex crime charge to result. Are you hearing something different from the prosecutor?

Beth: What I am hearing is that it is not clear. What I am hearing is that it is clear, crystal clear. We have a taped confession of a gang rape. Deepak admitting that they all had sex with Natalee. Joran’s signed declaration saying how she is falling asleep, awake, coming in and out of consciousness repeatedly. If that is not enough crystal clear glaring evidence, I don’t know what more needs to be brought forward.

“Aruba Truth” Response to Scared Monkeys

Aruba Truth Response to Scared Monkey’s post on ‘Actually Aruba Truth Gets Its Wrong, Part 1′

Aruba Truth state the following:

Scared Monkeys has done an outstanding job of covering this investigation since the beginning and the task force is very appreciative of their continuing coverage. However do not think for a second that we exist only as a vehicle for one Aruban political party’s voice.

With of course a however,

Scared Monkeys questions the Strategic Communications Task Force’ motives and wants to know why ArubaTruth would choose to respond to Dr. Phil McGraw’s call for Americans to boycott Aruba. The Task Force has made its position very clear since our first post on ArubaTruth, a letter from Jug Twitty to Alabama Governor Riley urging Americans not to call for a boycott which he feared would damage the ongoing relationship between the Holloway /Twitty families and the people of Aruba.

Scared Monkeys would like to thank and appreciates ArubaTruth.com for their kind words on our coverage as we have presented the facts of the situation and presented information to many that would never been accessible. We also would like to note that we have never called for a boycott of Aruba. In fact the letter that the Task Force referenced from above was first reported on this blog and the MSM picked up on the document in August 11, 2005; Jug Twitty Appeals to the Governor of Alabama for No Boycott. I do find it interesting that the date of their post is the same date of the letter from Jug to Governor Riley?

Just a quick response of our own. Scared Monkeys would just like to remind all that are interested in free speech and the truth that the mere appearance of government involvement and having to answer to a government, no matter who is in power, provides a level of restriction of speech whether it be implied or not. It is not a slight on the fine Aruban people to criticize, ask questions or hold those accountable for the investigation and prosecution or rulings of this case. That is what responsible, thinking and caring people do.

Barbara Jean Monaco; Similarities and one Big Difference from the Natalee Holloway Case

Pauline Monaco of Derby, CT and the mother of Barbara Jean Monaco can empathize and sympathize with the families of Natalee Holloway as the circumstances seem to parallel in many respects in the disappearance and post investigation.

Pauline Monaco of Derby can sympathize with the parents of the Alabama teenager who disappeared this year during a vacation in Aruba.
“Right after it made the news, friends were calling me telling me how similar it was to what happened to Barbara Jean,” she said.

It has been 27 years since the Monacos’ 18-year-old daughter disappeared while on vacation in Virginia Beach, Va.

Though the Monaco’s tried to attain closure two years ago with a memorial Mass for Barbara Jean at St. Mary’s Church in Derby, the pain of her loss remains.

“It’s still very hard to talk about,” Pauline Monaco said.

Barbara Jean was a majorette and popular among fellow students at Derby High School.

Hot Southeast Real Estate Market; Katrina Disaster has a Silver Lining

With the relocation of so many people in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and the infusion of Federal and Insurance money, the real estate market has been busy throughout the southeast. Many of those who have fled the Gulf Coast are not planning on returning, and are renting and buying new homes at a record pace.

From the USA Today:

The exodus of Hurricane Katrina evacuees seeking homes and places to run their businesses is rocking already-hot real estate markets throughout the Southeast.

From Pensacola, Fla., to Houston, legions of people and companies that fled the disaster are snapping up houses, apartment rentals and office and warehouse space as soon as they discover it. Real estate investors also are buying homes and renting them out.

The surge of buyers and renters — plus some bidding wars — are driving up sales and rental prices 10% to 50% in residential and commercial markets, say dozens of shell-shocked real estate agents and economic development officials across the Gulf Coast region.

“There has been huge demand everywhere,” says Al Mansell, president of the National Association of Realtors. “These people all need short- and long-term housing.”

and now for some irony, the New Orleans real estate market is also on fire.
