John Kerry’ s Don Quixote attack on John Bolton

The internationalist strikes again. JohnKerry.com is buying Google Ads to stop John Bolton’s nomination to be Ambassador to the United Nations. He has an ad directing you to his web site to contact Senator Lincoln Chafee to vote against the nomination. I know that it is convoluted, but hey, it is John Kerry we are talking about.

Kerry

Washington D.C.
Newport
Providence
(202) 224-2921
(401) 845-0700
(401) 453-5294

Senator Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island is under enormous political pressure from the White House and right-wing organizations to cast the deciding vote in favor of the nomination of John Bolton to serve as the United States’ Ambassador to the United Nations.

I don’t believe that, in his heart, Senator Chafee thinks we should have a U.N. ambassador who once said “if the U.N. secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference.”

Bolton’s nomination is another example of the Bush Administration’s determination to award high government posts to those who have been the architects of some of the most disastrous foreign policy decisions of the last four years. Why should we retain, much less promote, those who have failed to make America more safe and secure?

I have a big smile on my face that I helped keep Kerry from being President. The thought that he is spending part of his multi-million dollar war chest from the election on drivel such as this, and thinking that he can influence Senator Chafee is amusing. I sincerely hope that Senator Chafee will not be influenced by such partisan chicanery.

UPDATE: Even better, Kerry’s web site has created an secondary advertisement to go after Chafee . See it here.

UPDATE 2: Just got a call back from Senator Chafee’s office from his Press Secretary Stephen Hourahan. I asked him if Senator Kerry’s attempt will have any influence on his decision. Stephen said it was a one word answer. No.

Good for you Senator Chafee and staff.

UPDATE 3: Here is an AP article on the Kerry ads.

Tiger Woods; “This Guys Pretty Good”

I will have to agree 100% with the 1754 Blog, Tiger’s chip at Augusta was simply amazing.

How often is it that Caddy-shack comes true? Of course without the explosions and gofer running for its life.

Famous last words of the golf announcer, “There’s a good chance he doesn’t get it inside of Di Marco’s ball.” Ye of little faith …
Check out again one of the single greatest shots of all times.

Lexis Nexis, Identity Theft Worse Than Originally Thought

It appears that the numbers are much worse than first reported by in March of the Identity Theft of those who hacked into Nexis Lexis. Some 310,000 individuals are feared to have had their information stolen.

LexisNexis, which said in March that 32,000 people had been potentially affected by the breaches, will notify an additional 278,000 individuals whose data may have been stolen.

” … determined that its databases had been fraudulently breached 59 times using stolen passwords, leading to the possible theft of personal information such as addresses and Social Security numbers.”

We had originally posted on the identity theft story following the Choice Point breach. So far it appears than no one has reported a case of identity theft; however, the amount of people originally suspected to have been affected is alarmingly much greater than initially reported.

Behind the Scenes; Your Government at Work

With all the Left’s complaining about the Patriot Act, that the US is no safer than prior to 9-11, and the War in Iraq being a distraction from the War on Terror; comes this great news for all Americans. According to Fox News and stated by the Justice Department:

Three men have been indicted in connection to an alleged plot to attack financial institutions in New York, northern New Jersey and Washington, D.C”.

The new charges against the three include conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction, conspiracy to provide material support to terrorism, providing and concealing material support to terrorism and conspiracy to damage and destroy buildings involved in interstate and foreign commerce.

According to the indictment, Barot served as lead instructor at a jihad training camp in Afghanistan. He is also accused of applying to a college in New York in 2000 in order to conceal the true purpose of his trips to the United States. He never actually enrolled or attended any classes.

The terrorists appear that they were examining and casing many prominent value targets:

New York-area buildings as well as the International Monetary Fund and World Bank buildings in Washington, D.C.

Officials later told FOX News that other potential targets included the American Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, Morgan Stanley, Lehman Bros., Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve Bank, Bear Stearns, AIG, MetLife and JP Morgan Chase.

The Indictment can bee seen here.

More can be found from CNN; however, their couple of lines are almost puzzling.

At the time, law enforcement officials said they believed al Qaeda members were planning another attack on the United States before last November’s presidential election.

No such attack materialized.

Isn’t this a good thing that no attack materialized?

Our Government’s main job is to protect its citizens. Even more so in a post 9-11 World. For all those nay sayers that claim some how the US is in worse shape than prior to 9-11; how can we take them seriously? Partisan politics ends not at the borders, but at the protection of the citizens of America so that no 9-11 event can happen again. Must we be reminded by such horrific events that there are bad people out there waiting to do evil against us?

This is your Government hard at work protecting you. Why would anyone in this country be against the protection of its own people? Number 402.5 to think about next time you go and vote.

Very Strong Editorial from the National Review on Tom Delay

We forget what a different world it is on Capitol Hill.

The Tom DeLay drumbeat goes on. So desperate are the New York Times and Washington Post for DeLay copy that they have begun recycling old stories on their front pages. Michael Isikoff is reduced to reporting hearsay from Jack Abramoff’s lunches. And Old Unreliable, Rep. Chris Shays, has predictably called for DeLay’s ouster, making him once again a harbinger for the media of “dissension in the GOP ranks.” There’s little sign that the Majority Leader’s agony will end soon.

Conservatives must be willing to make cold-blooded calculations about their leaders, since the cause is bigger than any one man. But DeLay has not committed any crimes or ethics violations that merit his ouster. Nor has his effectiveness been so diminished that the Republican caucus would be better off without him — even if he has sustained damage from the drip-drip of allegations against him.

The chief reason the Democrats and the press are ganging up on DeLay is obvious: He has been an effective leader of the House Republican majority, and they hope to do damage to the GOP caucus and agenda by taking him out, on the model of former Speaker Newt Gingrich.
