A Soldier Comes Home
Get a box of tissues and read this one by Greg Moore. It is his story of returning home from Iraq.
My release from Fort Drum came earlier than expected, so when I pulled into my driveway at noon the house was empty. I dropped my bags inside and walked alone through the rooms, soaking in the images and smells that had been only a memory during ten months in Iraq.
My oldest son’s first-grade teacher had been wonderful to me while I was away. She sent school updates and pictures via e-mail almost weekly. So when I popped my head into her classroom she came running and gave me a “welcome home” hug.
“Easton is practicing a song. Why don’t you surprise him?”
My heart was racing. I followed the sound of the piano and the little voices singing, then stood and watched. Trickles of love and pride started involuntarily down my cheeks as I listened to my son. He has gotten so big. The anticipation built as I waited for him to see me.
The little girl next to him was the first to notice the uniformed man standing in the doorway. The image she saw and the facts she had been told were doing battle in her brain. Then her eyes grew wide and her mouth fell open.
“Easton! Easton…your Daddy’s here!” she said in an electrified whisper.
My son’s head snapped around. The excitement and disbelief on his face is something I will never forget. I motioned him to me and he ran into my open arms. There was no hiding my tears, and I didn’t care to. This was the day I had waited for.
Traveling through the airport this past week with my heart a little heavy, I saw many soldiers returning to their families. To some I got the chance to say thank you. I wish I could say thanks personally to all of them. They do a service to our country and it’s people that is beyond belief. But their presence and their sacrifice made me proud and brightened my day.
Hat Tip Blackfive, a great blog.

See What Passes For Liberal Art These Days
So in the wonderful world of liberalism stamps with a picture of George W. Bush with a gun to his head are considered art. This is just shameless, pathetic and hopefully illegal. The exhibit, called “Axis of Evil: The Secret History of Sin,” was investigated by the Secret Service This “art” was supposed to address issues like the Roman Catholic sex abuse scandal, racism and the war in Iraq. So which one was this? Exactly what issue does a gun to the President’s head depict? Maybe HATE. This is an ongoing insanity on the LEFT with this incessant hatred of George W. Bush to the point where they cross the line of decency. There is no way in hell that this can be looked upon as anything more than a way to insight violence and throw red meat to the rapid nut wing of the Party. THIS IS NOT ART, IT IS REASON NUMBER 24 WHY TO NEVER VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE WHO’S THESE ARTIST WOULD EVER VOTE FOR.

Setback For Democrats Winning Elections in Florida
It looks like it will continue to be difficult for Democrats to carry election wins in the state of Florida. A federal appeals court in Atlanta on Tuesday upheld Florida’s 160-year-old law enforcing a lifetime ban on voting rights for convicted felons.
Ex-felons sued in 2000 to get their voting rights restored when their sentences are finished, instead of having to apply through a complex system for civil rights restoration.
What is most interesting is that those who wish to have felons vote are using the race card stating that, “A total of 600,000 people in Florida are banned; 167,000 are blacks”, she said. The most interesting flaw in this argument is that racism is being claims against the 160 year old law is the following:
Florida first adopted its ban on felon voting in 1845, basing it on a “nonracial rationale.” Blacks were not allowed to vote at the time.
Looks like Democrats courting the felon vote have been provided a setback in their efforts to have felons vote while in the past military service men have been disenfranchised. It is hard to imagine that a Party would sooner go out of their way to count the votes of convicted felons over those serving to defend their country.

With all the flack over the hate marketing going on against George W. Bush and Tom Delay, suggesting that he commit suicide this would be a little more in the spirit of things.
Funny though now the Left only wants Tom Delay to Go Far Away. What happened, too much heat?
