Sean Penn Gets the Kiss of Death, Praise from Socialist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez … Better than an Oscar for Socialist Actor
Sean Penn once again proving that the movie, Team America, World Police, was spot on in its assessment of Hollywood and Mr. Penn. Sean Penn goes to Venezuela to see how the other half live and gets praise from Venezuelan Dictator, I mean President Hugo Chavez. So Penn walks around the slums of Venezuela and some how Chavez is a benevolent leader.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has praised Sean Penn for his critical stance against the war in Iraq, saying the two chatted by phone and soon plan to meet in person.
Chavez said Penn traveled to Venezuela this week wanting to learn more about the situation in the country and walked around some of Caracas’ poor barrios on his own.
“Welcome to Venezuela, Mr. Penn. What drives him is consciousness, the search for new paths,” Chavez said Wednesday in a televised speech. “He’s one of the greatest opponents of the Iraq invasion.”
Chavez said the two plan to meet Thursday. He called the actor “well- informed about what is happening in the United States and the world, in spite of being in Hollywood.“
What are the odds that Penn thinks Venezuela is the land of rainbow sky’s and rivers made of chocolate? Sean Penn, how does it feel to sell your soul to the Devil?
From the NewsBusters: Is it the pinnacle of an anti-American, socialist actor’s career to be praised by an anti-American, socialist dictator?
UPDATE I: Sean Penn meets Chavez in Venezuela
Meet the new Cindy Sheehan, say hello to Sean Penn. Hey Spiccoli, if you think Chavez has all the answers, please move to Venezuela permanently.
Chavez met privately with the 46-year-old actor for two hours Thursday, praising him as being “brave” for urging Americans to impeach President Bush.
Chavez said he and Penn discussed the question of “why the (U.S.) empire attacks Chavez so much,” saying Venezuela’s oil wealth is a key reason.
He also said Washington is “afraid that the people of the United States will learn the real truth” about the situation in Venezuela, citing his social programs for the poor.
“If the people of the United States, those millions and millions of poor people … if that nation realizes what is truly happening here, there would be a revolution in the United States,” Chavez said, eliciting applause from Penn.

Abu Shahid, Top Iraqi Al Qaeda Leader Arrested in Iraq
Here is some good news from Iraq. The US military is reporting that Khaled Abdul-Fattah Dawoud Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, also known as Abu Shahid has been arrested.
The U.S. command said Wednesday the highest-ranking Iraqi in the leadership of Al Qaeda in Iraq has been arrested, adding that information from him indicates the group’s foreign-based leadership wields considerable influence over the Iraqi chapter.
Unconfirmed Reports Out of Iraq, Al Qaeda Terrorist Leader Abu Ayyub al-Masri is Dead
Well this is extremely welcome news if true. The leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq was killed.
Unconfirmed reports Tuesday indicated that Al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al-Masri had died in fighting between rival militant groups north of the Iraqi capital, according to an Interior Ministry spokesman.
“We received intelligence reports of al-Masri getting killed in clashes between al-Qaeda in Iraq and other militant groups, at dawn today, in al-Niba’ie in Taji, north of Baghdad,” Brig. Gen. Abdul Karim Khalaf said. (CNN)
For more go to The Jawa Report. As they state, cross your fingers as Iraq is known for its bogus reporting on the deaths of terrorist leaders. We shall see if this pans out.
They Eat Their Own: Sheehan Now Blasting Democrats
You knew this would happen, Cindy Sheehan thinks that she is the architect of the Democratic victory in the 2006 elections. Now she is demanding that the Democratic Party end the war in Iraq immediately, or face the consequences.
“They got there and they betrayed the grass roots that put them back there,” she said. “We can’t depend on the Democrats.”
The Democrats are locked in a bitter struggle with Bush over an emergency war funding bill that would set a timetable calling for a withdrawal of US forces from the strife-torn country in 2008.
“The timeline is now, not 18 months, not two years,” said Sheehan.
The anti-war movement “lost a little momentum during the elections, but it’s picking up again” because “the Democrats aren’t really doing anything” to end the conflict, she said. via AFP
Now I would love to see ol Nancy Pelosi stay in the country and work on creating a peace accord for her own party instead of creating a mess in the Middle East. Of course, it may be that she see’s a better chance of success in the Middle East than in the Democratic Party.
Pelosi Plays Politics With Troop Funding, Then Off To Meet With the Enemy
Nancy Pelosi has to be one of the stupider people to hold office. Thank god most of the media backs her otherwise she would be chased out of her Speaker’s role by the irate mob. But with a liberal media’s backing, her horrible behavior is being shielded and well hidden.
First, she allows billions of dollars to be added to a troop funding bill and sets timetables that are so unrealistic that a veto is guaranteed by the President. Don’t tell me President Bush could pass this, it would be impossible morally or politically. So Pelosi is playing hard core politics with troop funding. I do not like that part, but politics is a rough sport and I can live with it in the short term.
But then to go Syria in the midst of this battle over troop funding has to teeter on the edge of treason. We know that Syria is one of our enemy’s in the Middle East supplying aid and supplies to the enemy. They are not an ally in the region but a hostile combatant. For someone of her political stature to go and have meetings with them will empower an entity actively working against our military.
So in one week Nancy Pelosi has hurt the morale of our fighting men and women and raced off to meet their de facto enemy? Tell me that there isn’t something very wrong with this picture.
Pelosi will not be the first member of Congress in recent months to travel to Syria, but as House speaker she is the most senior.
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said the speaker “should take a step back and think about the message that it sends.”
“This is a county that is a state sponsor of terror, one that is trying to disrupt the Senora government in Lebanon and one that is allowing foreign fighters to flow into Iraq from its borders,” Perino said.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “probably really wants people to come, and have a photo opportunity, and have tea with him, and have discussions about where they’re coming from. But we just think it’s a really bad idea,” Perino said.
Pelosi’s office did not immediately return a call seeking comment on why she was not heeding administration warnings. via the AP
