Union Protesters Cause $7.5 Million in Damages at State Capitol in Madison, WI

Could the MSM be any more hypocritical, what if the Tea Party had done such a thing?

According to reports from the JS Online, Wisconsin state officials have stated that damage to the marble inside and out the State Capitol due the the exploits of union protesters would cost an estimated $7.5 million to repair. It is one thing to use your First Amendment right to protect and make you voice be heard, it’s quite a different one to deface public property. Guess who gets this bill … all tax payers in Wisconsin. Guess those peaceful protesters have provided a gift that keeps on giving, or taking as the case may be. How disgraceful that these people deface public property; however, I am sure they will get a fraudulent note excusing them of their actions.

VIDEO: Fox News6 Now

Cari Anne Renlund, chief legal counsel for the state Department of Administration, said in Dane County court that estimates of damage to marble includes $6 million to repair damaged marble inside the Capitol, $1 million for damage outside and $500,000 for costs to supervise the damage.

Much of the damage apparently has come from tape used to put up signs and placards at the Capitol.

Hmm, according to the video above, live ammunition was found outside the state Capitol as well as .22 caliber shells were found. More at The Lonely Conservative.

What a double standard of hypocrisy on the side of the liberal MSM. Imagine, just imagine of a Tea Party rally caused such damage, litter and ruin in its wake? It would be the headline story on every LEFTIST newspaper and leading the national news. But when union protesters do such a thing, its no where to be found. Another Black Conservative reminds us of the mess that had to be cleaned up after other LEFTY get-togethers, complete with pics too. But of course, the MSM refused to report on the Hitler and hate signsof the union protesters. Too bad they cannot say the same about the bias and fabricated agenda they tried to pass off regarding the Tea Party.

Ohio Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown Compares Republicans to Hitler, Stalin … They Were Against Unions

Once again we are witness to another Democrat who appears not to have received the memo from President Barack Obama on civility. Obama is all for civility, unless it means defending his meal ticket, the unions.  Ohio Democrat US Senator Sherrod Brown stated that Hitler, Stalin and Mubarak did not want independent unions in a obvious comparison to Republicans.

“As a nation, I look back in history and some of the worst governments we’ve ever had, you know one of the the first thing they did? They went after the trade unions,” he said. “Hitler didn’t want unions, Stalin didn’t want unions. [Former Egyptian President Hosni] Mubarak didn’t want independent unions.”

 Oh those Civil Democrats …

From the Politico:

Brown continued: “I’m not comparing what’s happened to the workers in Madison or in Columbus to Hitler and Stalin but I am saying that history teaches us that unions are a very positive force in society that creates a middle class that protects our freedom.”

However, try as the Democrats and the LEFT may, we all know that unions for the most part have out-lived their usefulness and that Barack Obama is forever beholden to them for getting him elected. Just curious Mr. President, for an individual that is so for unions, why don’t you explain to the rank and file unions folks, why federal employees don’t have collective bargaining rights? Better yet, why don’t you voice your outrage at the incivility of tone of your fellow Democrats?

Hat Tip: Vanderbilt ’11

Brown was quick to say that he was not making a direct comparison of Republicans to Hitler. Of course your not Senator Brown, only an indirect one I guess. Um, then why did you make the point of referencing Hitler, Stalin and Mubarak? Funny, because the union protesters in Wisconsin and across the country have compared Wisconsin Gov. Walker and other Republicans to Hitler, Stalin, Mubarak and other dictators. So all in the same diatribe, Brown evokes the history of Hitler and Stalin to say that the GOP is doing something similar to what they did, then in the same breathe claims he is not making a comparison. It is only the LEFT that gets away with this type of BS.

The hypocrisy of the angry, mean LEFT … They claimed the Tea Party was hateful

Very nice hyperbole, well may be in actual fact presented by Erik Erickson of Red State.

That’s not hyperbole. That is actual fact. I wouldn’t bring this up except Sherrod Brown is calling Jim DeMint and Scott Walker “nazis” except they, just like Sherrod Brown, are not Nazis. Or something like that. Senator Brown seems confused. He’s comparing them to Hitler and Stalin, but denying he is comparing them to Hitler and Stalin

The Politics of Oscar … What a Shock, Hollywood LEFT Bashes GOP Wisconsin Gov. Walker

Breaking news from last nights Oscars … they are Leftist, union supporting, Republican bashers.

As reported at ABC’s  The Note, during last nights Academy Awards, cinematography winner Wally Pfister went out of his way during his acceptance speech of thanking his union crew on “Inception.” But that’s not where it ended, he went into even greater Leftist politics backstage, off screen where he bashed Wisconsin Go. Scott Walker

Backstage he went further, expressing shock at Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal, which would limit union’s collective bargaining powers. Opponents of the plan have been protesting at the state capitol for 21 days.

“I think that what is going on in Wisconsin is kind of madness right now,” Pfister says. “I have been a union member for 30 years and what the union has given to me is security for my family. They have given me health care in a country that doesn’t provide health care and I think unions are a very important part of the middle class in America all we are trying to do is get a decent wage and have medical care.”

Just curious Hollywood, how do all those non-Union folks ever get by?

Oh the amazement and irony of it all of the union label. As stated at Big Hollywood, isn’t it rather comical that  there is “nothing like an Academy Award winner who can afford to send his three children to whatever school he wants coming to the aide of the unions that have destroyed the public schools”.

Another shock, Hollywood types dropping the F-bomb and its just laughed off.

MoveOn.Org 50 State Pro-Union Support Protest Falls Far Short of Expectations

Million man pro-union protest march, eh? Well if you bet the under, you won big.

As reported at Legal Insurection, the 50 state, or the Obama 57 states, pro-union rally in support of the Wisconsin public sector unions came up far short than initially predicted. It was only in Madison, WI where there was any sizable amount of protesters, including those that were bussed in. It would appear that only at ground zero of the debate  in Madison, WI  is there any traction of protest. The rest of the US was rather apathetic when it came to support of their union brethren. However, when adding the tally for the rest of the major cities across the US, the rally was a complete bust. When will MoveOn and the lib’s learn that astroturfed movements never work.

In Washington, D.C., only about 500 peopleshowed up (go to link for good photos of crazy signs). (Note, WaPo says 1000.)

In Columbus, OH, where you would expect a big crowd given a similar controversy, only “several thousand” people protested

Other head counts, based on news reports, include: Boston (1000), Portsmouth, N.H. (few hundred), Augusta, ME (small crowd), New York City (“several thousand“), Chicago (1000), Miami (100), Austin (several hundred), Chicago (1000); Lansing, MI (2000), Nashville (hundreds), Los Angeles (2000), Richmond, VA (300), Denver (1000); Frankfurt, KY (several hundred), Jefferson City, MO (several hundred), Harrisburg, PA (several hundred).

In some cities it was hard to tell who were the protesters and who were the folks just enjoying a nice weather day. Then there were the onlookers who is some cases outnumbered the protesters.

The Gateway Pundit reports that there were more Tea Party folks in Jefferson City, MO than union supporters where he spoke. As also reported at Newsbusters, try as the MSM might, embellish all they want and try to inflate the numbers … the rallies were a failure.

Maybe all the pro-union supporters were hiding out with the “Wisconsin Senate fleebaggers in Rockford, IL?

Rasmussen: Majority of Americans are not in Favor of Teacher’s Unions

A recent Rasmussen poll states that a majority of Americans thing that being a teacher is an essential and important job; however, it is a much different outcome when asked when teachers should be unionized. 46% say that unionized teachers are a bad thing, while only 37% say its good.  In other words, the public opinion is that unions offer nothing but a restriction to teachers and ultimately the students.

Americans continue to believe strongly that being a teacher is an essential job, but a plurality thinks it’s a bad thing that most teachers are unionized.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 68% of American Adults view being a teacher as one of the most important jobs in our country today, down five points from May of last year but up slightly from when we first asked the question in May 2008. Twenty-one percent (21%) say it’s not one of the most important jobs, and 12% aren’t sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
