President Trump Meets With Key Senators Ahead of His Nomination for New Supreme Court Justice

RED STATE DEMOCRAT SENATORS IN A TOUGH PLACE FOR SCOTUS VOTE …

As reported at CNN, President Donald Trump met with key senators at the White House on Thursday ahead of President Trump’s nomination of the next Supreme Court Justice.  Trump met with three red-state Senate Democrats who are all facing tough re-election fights this year in states that Trump won easily in the 2016 elections: Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota. Trump won West Virginia, Indiana and North Dakota, 68.6% – 26.5%57.2% – 37.9% and 64.1% – 27.7%, respectively. These Democrat Senators are between a rock and a hard place. President Trump has already begun going to states with important Senate elections in 2018 and telling the voters he needs more GOP Senators to pass his agenda and continue to mane America great again. All three of these Senators voted in favor of President Trump’s previous SCOTUS nominee Neil M. Gorsuch. The vote is expected to be prior to the 2018 midterm elections which means if these Senators hgave any hope of winning, they will have to vote in favor of Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, or face a sure loss this November.

President Trump also met with moderate, pro-choice Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins, of Maine, as well as Chuck Grassley of Iowa. All, also voted in favor of Gorsuch. President Trump is putting his ducks in a row and making sure he has the votes. However, what type of pressure will Democrat Senate Majority Leader  Schumer put on Democrats to resist Trump’s nominee, no matter who it is?

SCOTUS

President Donald Trump met with key senators at the White House on Thursday as the administration goes into a full-court press to nominate and confirm a new Supreme Court justice before the midterm elections next fall.

Trump met with three red-state Democrats who are all facing tough re-election fights this year: Sens. Joe Manchin, of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly, of Indiana, and Heidi Heitkamp, of North Dakota. The meetings came a day after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced he’ll retire on July 31. The White House plans to nominate a new justice by July 9, CNN reported earlier Thursday.

Trump also met with Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski, of Alaska, Susan Collins, of Maine, and Chuck Grassley, of Iowa. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump’s team also talked with a dozen other senators.

“Tonight President Trump met with Senators Grassley, Collins, Murkowski, Manchin, Donnelly, and Heitkamp to discuss the Supreme Court vacancy,” Sanders said in a statement. “The President’s team also talked with more than a dozen other Senators today as part of ongoing outreach to get views and advice from both sides of the aisle on this important nomination.”

All three Democratic senators are facing tough votes when Trump nominates a replacement for Kennedy. Their states went overwhelmingly for Trump in 2016 and a vote against the President’s nominee to the court could end up costing them votes from Trump supporters they would have needed to stay in office.

Heitkamp, who was previously praised by Trump as a “good woman” before he campaigned against her in North Dakota on Wednesday, said following the meeting that she’s still willing to hear him out on his court choice.
“Political speeches are just that, but the next day, I’m ready to get to work. As I said, if the President wants to meet with me, I’m ready to participate and advocate for North Dakota. And that’s exactly what happened today,” she said.

As Politico reports, if Trump nominates a woman to the SCOTUS, will that be a game changer? Will it really matter? Female justices can be pro-life too. President Trump said that his nominee will come from his previous released list of 25. This means that Democrats cannot whine about Trump rushing too fasy because they already had the list and would have been previously vetted when Gorsuch was chosen.

No matter whom President Donald Trump picks for the Supreme Court this time around, the nominee is almost certain to come under withering liberal attack as a grave threat to women’s rights. Several conservatives close to the White House, however, say they know just how to blunt that looming assault: Pick a woman for the job.

Of the 25 people on Trump’s public list of potential nominees, six are women. Four — 10th Circuit Judge Allison Eid, 6th Circuit Judge Joan Larsen, Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces Judge Margaret Ryan and 7th Circuit Judge Diane Sykes — were on lists released during the 2016 presidential campaign. Two — 7th Circuit Judge Amy Barrett and Georgia Supreme Court Justice Britt Grant — were added last November.

Justice Anthony Kennedy handed President Donald Trump and the Republicans a major midterm gift by retiring now. Maybe he thinks this is a make up for all of the swing vote decisions that he made when he sided with the liberals on the court. Justices Kennedy’s decision to retire has put further pressure on the other US Senate races like in Missouri, Montana and Florida where Democrat Sens. Claire McCaskill, Jon Tester and Bill Nelson find themselves in tough battles. These three Democrat Senators did not vote for Gorsuch. Trump won these states in the 2016 elections by 19.1, 20.5 and 1.3 percentage points, respectively.

Make no mistake, the Democrats will be viscous and vile this time around. As if they had been civil in the past. The comical part about this is that Democrats are demanding that trump pick a comparable nominee similar to moderate Justice Kennedy. Ha, like that would have occurred had Hillary Clinton won the election.  Elections do have consequences and to all the never-Trumpers, with two SCOTUS pics in less than a year, you need to sit down and shut up at this point. With regards to Democrats demanding that Trump pick a moderate like Kennedy, do you honestly think that when Reagan picked Kennedy, he ever thought that Kennedy would side so much with the liberals on the Court?

Liberal MSM Loses Their Mind Upon Justice Kennedy Retirement … MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, ‘Hell to Pay’ If Democrats Don’t Block Anthony Kennedy Replacement (VIDEO)

THE LIBERAL MSM LOSING THEIR MINDS WITH JUSTICE KENNEDY RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT …

Hmm, so why would the liberal MSM become so insane by the announcement of the retirement of Justice Kennedy? Do they think the Supreme Court is supposed to be more powerful than the Legislative or Executive branches of government? Yesterday, following the retirement announcement of Justice Kennedy, the LEFT-wing Democrat media lost their minds. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews stated, that if Democrats “don’t use everything they’ve got, if they don’t play hardball, I think they’re through.” Matthews went on to say, “If they allow Trump to fill the Supreme Court with another conservative who will not share Justice Anthony Kennedy’s views on social issues like marriage quality, then the Democratic leadership “will have hell to pay.” The LEFT, Democrats and the liberal MSM can kick, scream, whine and throw all the temper tantrums they want. The fact of the matter is they have no power to stop it.  Honestly, who thinks that had Hillary Clinton won the 2016 Presidential election, Heaven forbid, that she would have appointed a Justice comparable to that of Scalia? As for Kennedy, he might not have even considered stepping down.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Wednesday said that the Senate would hold a vote on Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s successor this fall.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews did not mince words in reacting to Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s surprise retirement announcement on Wednesday.

“I don’t think the Democrats should allow meetings to occur with Trump’s nominee to fill this vacancy by Justice Kennedy,” Matthews said. “I think they have to fight eye for an eye for what happened in ‘16 when the Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell, refused to even consider or even meet with Merrick Garland.”

If the Democratic leadership under Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer “allows this to go forward,” Matthews continued, they are going to have a “huge problem with the Democratic base.” He pointed to incumbent Congressman Joe Crowley’s loss the night before to young progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a sign of just how vulnerable the establishment wing of the Democratic Party is right now.

“There is no way politically the Democratic base will stand for any kind of hearings or vote for a Trump nominee before the election,” he added. “We’ve got an election in four and half months. There’s no reason to consider a replacement on the Supreme Court in that time.” Matthews said McConnell has “no right” to bring a nominee up for a vote after what he did to Merrick Garland two years ago.

Who finds this comical that the LEFT is going crazy over a Ronald Reagan SCOTUS appointee?

BOMBSHELL: Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy Retiring

THIS WILL IMPACT THE COURT FOR A GENERATION, MAYBE TWO …

Yesterday, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced he will be retiring from the bench at the end of July. A Press release issued by the Supreme Court announcing the decision by Justice Kennedy to step down from the SCOTUS at the end of July 2018.  Kennedy, 81, has been the swing vote on the Supreme Court with his decisions often determine the deciding vote on a court split 4 to 4 between liberals and conservatives even though he was considered a conservative. This swing vote now may be replace with a Conservative Constitutionalist that may impact the Court for generations.  Justice Kennedy was  appointed by President Reagan in 1987 and sworn in on February 18, 1988.

The 81-year-old Kennedy, often a voice of moderation over three decades on the court, provided the key vote on such closely divided issues as affirmative action, guns, campaign finance and voting rights in addition to same-sex marriage and the right to abortion.

Kennedy informed his colleagues of his plans, then went to the White House to meet with Trump, where the president said they talked for half an hour about a potential successor and other topics. The retirement will take effect at the end of July.

Trump praised Kennedy as a man of “tremendous vision” and said his search for a new justice would begin “immediately.”

Trump’s first high court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, was confirmed in April 2017. If past practice is any indication, the president will name a nominee within weeks, setting in motion a process that could allow confirmation by the time the court reconvenes in early October.

Trump already has a list of 25 candidates — 24 judges and Utah Sen. Mike Lee — and has said he would choose a nominee from that list.

Justice Kennedy was the second-oldest member of the court. The oldest, Democrat Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is 85 and has been treated for pancreatic cancer, followed by another Left leaning liberal, Stephen Breyer, who is 79.

SCOTUS Ruth Bader Ginsburg Says Election 2016 too ‘Macho’ for Hillary Clinton to Win … The LEFT Still Whining about their Loss (VIDEO)

RUTH BADER GINSBERG NEEDS TO STEP DOWN … NO ONE THIS POLITICAL NEEDS TO BE ON THE SUPREME COURT.

When will the LEFT let it go? Folks, its been more than a year since Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election in an electoral landslide. An election that many said she could never lose. However, that’s why they play the game and the LEFT still cannot get over it. In an interview this past Sunday at Columbia University during a Women’s Conference Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said,  “I think it was difficult for Hillary Clinton to get by even the macho atmosphere prevailing during that campaign, and she was criticized in a way I think no man would have been criticized.” This was a doubling down on comments she made last year that sexism “no doubt” played a role in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 election defeat. Good grief, REALLY? Where does this 84 year old Supreme Court justice get off being so political? She needs to step down if she is going to act in such a political and bias manner because obviously, by her own words and actions she can no longer be fair and just.

A note to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Hillary Clinton lost because she was a terrible candidate. In a change election, the Democrats nominated the most establishment candidate ever. America had Clinton fatigue and were tired of her corruption, scandals and lies. It is only those in Leftist group think that blame sexism for her loss. As it was she rigged the Democrat system against Bernie Sanders in the primaries, of which she barely won. I am curious, was it also sexism that caused Hillary to lose to Barack Obama in the 2008 primaries?

Ginsburg: ‘Macho Atmosphere’ & ‘Sexism’ Hurt Clinton in 2016 Election

Via Washington Times:

Hillary Clinton has spent most of her days, post-election, pining about her loss and blaming it on the deplorables who followed President Donald Trump — the so-called sexist, misogynist atmosphere she perceives as marking her race to the White House.

Well now, here comes Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, tossing the same gender card. And not for the first time, either.

When asked by CNN’s Poppy Harlow during a Columbia University forum to clarify her previously made comments about sexism during the election year — that it was a “major factor” in determining the outcome — Ginsburg didn’t walk back, but rather ran head-first forward.

“I think it was difficult for Hillary Clinton to get by the macho atmosphere prevailing during that campaign,” Ginsburg said, The Hill reported. “[S]he was criticized in a way I think no men would have been criticized. I think anyone who watched that campaign unfold would answer the same way I did, yes, that sexism played a prominent role.

In other words, Clinton was held to account on pretty much gender neutral political platforms. She was questioned about most of the same issues as Trump — except Trump, of course, was slapped hard for his past treatment of and remarks about women. If anyone was subjected to gender-based questioning, it was Trump, not Clinton.

Ginsburg, however, has described herself as a “flaming feminist litigator,” CNN reported. And she’s a flamer, apparently, who made widespread news for her inappropriate — for a supposedly unbiased court justice — who spent the pre-election weeks condemning the idea of a Trump presidency, wondering “what the country would be” with him in the White House, and threatening, maybe somewhat jokingly, maybe somewhat not, to move to New Zealand.

How long is the LEFT going to whine over Hillary Clinton’s loss? GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON!!!

How satisfying is it going to be when a Republican, preferably President Donald Trump gets to nominate her replacement on the Supreme Court?

SCOTUS Rules in Favor of President Trump Travel Ban by a 7-2 Decision

ANOTHER WIN FOR TRUMP …

Yesterday, in a 7 -2 decision the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump administration travel ban by residents of six mostly Muslim countries. This is a huge victory for Trump, the rule of law and the safety of American citizens. This is a tremendous loss for Democrats and liberals who have no want or need to protect its citizens from outside hostile individuals. So much for all of the liberals who said Trump could not do such things like protect the United States of America. Although the decision is not final, it means that the ban can go into place while the cases are heard. With a 7-2 decision, it is most likely the ban will be upheld when the case is finally heard.  The ban applies to travelers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to fully enforce a ban on travel to the United States by residents of six mostly Muslim countries.

This is not a final ruling on the travel ban: Challenges to the policy are winding through the federal courts, and the justices themselves ultimately are expected to rule on its legality.

But the action indicates that the high court might eventually approve the latest version of the ban, announced by President Donald Trump in September. Lower courts have continued to find problems with the policy.

Just two justices, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, noted their disagreement with court orders allowing the latest policy to take full effect.

The new policy is not expected to cause the chaos that ensued at airports when Trump rolled out his first ban without warning in January.

The ban applies to travelers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. Lower courts had said people from those nations with a claim of a “bona fide” relationship with someone in the United States could not be kept out of the country. Grandparents, cousins and other relatives were among those courts said could not be excluded.
