Big Papi David Ortiz Says What All of Boston Was Thinking at Today’s Red Sox-Royals MLB Game … “This is Our F*cking City and No One is Going to Dictate Our Freedom… Stay Strong!” (Update: FCC Blesses F-Bomb)

WHY WE LOVE DAVID ORTIZ AND THE SOX … NEVER HAS AN INAPPROPRIATE WORD BEEN SO APPROPRIATE.

Today at Fenway Park on Yawkey Way, the emotional pre-game ceremonies paid tribute to the victims of last Monday’s Boston Marathon. They  honored the first responders, the paramedics, firemen,  the marathon volunteers, the Boston and Watertown police, the FBI and other federal agencies that took part in the bombing investigation, Gov. Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. Boston and the surrounding communities have been rocked over the past couple of days since the cowardly, terror acts of two terrorists, Dzhokar Tsarnaev and  Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Yesterday’s Red Sox game was actually canceled not due to rain or snow, but because of the manhunt for suspect #2, Dzhokar Tsarnaev. However, all that ended last night in Watertown, MA as Dzhokar was captured alive.

The team replaced the legendary stitching of Red Sox across the front of their jersey’s with “Boston”.

Today’s Red Sox game was a celebration of getting back to normalcy, remembering those innocent people who were senselessly murdered and honoring the heroes who ran toward the bomb blasts to help the 100′s of individuals who were seriously injured. To thank the hard work of the local, state and federal authorities who in less than a week captured one terror bombing suspect alive and sent the other one to Hell. However, to know Boston and it’s people’s want to show that terrorist acts will never win, Big Papi’s inappropriate comments may have been the most appropriate comment to make. To the resounding roar of cheers David Ortiz addressed those in attendance at Fenway Park, to Boston and all of the Bay State … “This is Our F*cking City and No One is Going to Dictate Our Freedom… Stay Strong!”

DAVID ORTIZ … “THIS IS OUR FU@KING CITY AND NO ONE IS GOING TO DICTATE OUR FREEDOM!!!”

Big Papi, David Ortiz’s full comments:

“All right,” he said. “All right, Boston.”

“This jersey that we wear today,” he said, “it doesn’t say Red Sox. It says Boston. We want to thank you Mayor [Tom] Menino, Gov. [Deval] Patrick, the whole police department for the great job they did this past week.

“This is our f*cking  city and nobody is going to dictate our freedom. Stay strong.”

Way to go Big Papi. I can here Joey and Bobby in the North End responding to Ortiz’s words, “F’n A, F’n A!!!” In the end, the Sox gave the people of Beantown a 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Check out the UK Daily Mail for many pics of the day’s pregame ceremonies celebrating the victims and the heroes of the Boston Marathon bombings and the terrorist subsequent being taken down and capture.

UPDATE I: The FCC blesses David Ortiz’s “F-Bomb”. Finally, some common sense from a government department. As we had stated earlier, never has the an inappropriate word ever been more appropriate for the situation. The only thing missing would have been for Big Papi to say,  … and its our F*cking Country too!” FCC, with FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski tweeting his blessing from the government agency’s official Twitter account.

Terrorism Loses at the Boston Marathon … New York Yankees Play Sweet Caroline (a Boston Red Sox Tradition) at Yankee Stadium Standing United

YOU KNOW TERRORIM HAS LOST WHEN … YANKEES PLAY ‘SWEET CAROLINE’ AT YANKEE STADIUM.

For those, foreign or domestic, terrorists that would ever thing your cowardly acts can change this great country we call the “UNITED” States … you lose!!! Following the doubling bombing that took place at the finish line of the Boston Marathon where three people were killed and over 170 injured, many sat back in disbelief as to how this could happen. Sadly, there is always EVIL in the world, but the following may be even more shocking. I say this with some levity as being a live long Boston Red Sox fan and having spent many a day and night at Yankee Stadium being harassed by Yankee fans and as we know them, the Evil Empire, today I give them many KUDOS.

Its one thing for ‘Sweet Caroline” to be played in tribute to Boston in baseball parks across America, but NYC and the hated rivals, the NY Yankees? That is correct terrorists, that’s what you accomplished with your cowardly acts. YOU DID THE IMPOSSIBLE … you brought NYC and Boston together as one. Last night between innings of the game, the NY Yankees played “SWEET CAROLINE”, a tradition at every Red Sox home game, Diamond’s classic Sweet Caroline is played on the ballpark’s speakers before the bottom of the 8th inning. You would actually have to witness in live, see video here, to truly appreciate the experience at Fenway. Who would have ever thought?  Probably the greatest sports rivals in professional baseball and the two fan bases with the most dislike toward one another come together as one against the evils of terrorism. TERRORISTS, YOU LOSE … you have made us stronger, united and more resolved, not weaker or afraid. Never in my lifetime did I ever think ‘Sweet Caroline’ would ever be played in Yankee Stadium. It took an act of terrorism and people to come together against real EVIL. Thank you New York, much appreciated!

NEW YORK STANDS UNITED WITH BOSTON

Much like after the horrendous act of terrorism on 9-11, following the Boston Marathon bombing, we are all Bostonians today. Hey cowards, You attack one of us, you attack all of us!

Adam Scott, the Master of his Domaign and Owner of a Green Jacket … Wins Masters in Playoff Against Angel Cabrera … First Aussie to Win Masters

And the new MASTERS Champion comes from the Land Down Under!!!

Adam Scott wins The Masters on the second playoff hole defeating Angel Cabrera for his first major championship. I was also the first time any Australian golfer won the tournament as Adam Scott is now the proud owner of a Green Jacket. There is no doubt that they will be tipping back some beers back  and slip a couple more shrimp on the barbie in Australia celebrating this victory. The fantastic part about this was that Adam Scott won the Masters, no one lost it. Scott and Cabrera proved in shot after shot that it ain’t easy being green.

The battle between Scott and Cabrera down the stretch on 17 and 18 in regulation in the pouring rain as darkness set in was epic. Just minutes after Adam Scott made his 20 foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for a 3-under 69 to take a one-shot lead he screamed,”C’mon, Aussie!”  and high fived his caddie Steve Williams …  Cabrera answered with an amazing approach that landed 3 feet from the cup. Under the circumstances and the pressure, it was simply one of the greatest shots, and it had to be.  Cabrera would tap in the easy birdie and a 2-under 70, tie with Scott.

The two continued their Rocky-Apollo Creed golf battle into the playoff matching shot for amazing shot. Then on the second playoff hole, the 10th, with Cabrera just missing his birdie put, settling for par … Adam Scott drained a 12-footer for birdie to win the Masters and become the first Australian golfer ever to do so. KUDOS to Scott.

“Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder [win The Masters]. Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover.”

Full Leaderboard can be seen HERE.

From ESPN:

With the two biggest putts of his career, Scott holed a 20-footer for birdie on the 18th hole of regulation that put him into a playoff with Angel Cabrera, and then won his first major championship Sunday with a 12-footer for birdie on the second extra hole.

Scott leaned back and thrust his arms in the air after the putt dropped on the 10th hole, a celebration for all of Australia and personal redemption for himself. It was only last summer when Scott threw away the Open Championship by making bogey on his last four holes to lose by one shot to Ernie Els.

The 32-year-old handled that crushing defeat with dignity and pledged to finish stronger given another chance. “Next time — I’m sure there will be a next time — I can do a better job of it,” he said that day.

Scott was close to perfect, and he had to be with Cabrera delivering some brilliance of his own.

They are partying Down Under like it was 1999 1983. Not since 1983 in Newport, RI when Australia II won the America’s Cup and ended the 132 year American reign as sailing champs has golf loving Australia celebrated a sporting event more than they will this Masters victory.

UCONN Lady Huskies Win 8th National Title Beating Louisville by Largest Margin in Finals History 93-60!!!

WOOO-HOOO, Ladies Night in the Big Easy as UCONN wins big … Simply the Best!!!

The University of Connecticut Lady Huskies have won their 8th NCAA Woman’s Basketball Championship by beating the Louisville Cardinals 93-60. It is the 8th championship for Huskie head coach Geno Auriemma, tying him with the immortal Tennessee Vol head coach Pat Summitt. After 5 to 8 minutes into the game, the game was over. With 13:52 left in the first half UCONN found them self behind 14-10 and the Huskies went on a 19-0 run and the rest was history. The Huskies lead at the half 48-29 and then outscored Louisville 45-31 in the second half to go on to a record largest margin of victory in a Woman’s final 93-60.

Click on pic for ESPN VIDEO

It was the largest margin of victory in the history of the women’s championship game. UConn has beaten Louisville 12 consecutive times dating back to 1993. Auriemma is only two championships shy of tying legendary UCLA coach John Wooden for the most titles won by any coach at the major college level.

Connecticut (35-4) made 13 of 26 3-point shots and raced to a 19-point halftime lead. The Huskies eventually stretched the lead to 35 points.

Move over Kerry Bascom, Rebecca Lobo, Jen Rizzotti, Sue Bird, Maya Moore and even Diana Taurasi .  There is a new sheriff in town, she is a freshman, and was named  the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player … her name is Breanna Stewart. Stewey for short. What a talent and Geno has her for another 3 more years. Breanna Stewart scored 23 points for UConn with nine rebounds and was one of five Huskies to score in  double figures. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis made five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points. The UCONN Huskies set a Finals record for 3′s as well. And probably more fitting than anything, beloved senior Kelly Faris in her final game for UCONN scored 16 points, pulled down 9 rebounds and was her typical defensive stopper raising havoc in helping the Huskies hold Louisville to 37% shooting and 22% 3 point shooting.

Congrats to the UCONN LADY HUSKIES. What makes this National title probably the most rewarding for Geno and the Huskies is that this was supposed to be a down year. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year. UCONN had been bested by the Irish in recent years and lost to them in the Big East Finals. However, that was 6 games ago and what seems like forever ago. In a year that was supposed to be a down one, the Lady Huskies finish 35-4, win the National Championship going away and crushed all who got in their way. Their average margin of victory for the tournament, 35 points.

In what is the swan song of the “BIG EAST” Conference as we know it, the Men’s and Woman’s champs both come from what will be known as the greatest NCAA basketball conference in history. What a shame that university presidents and their greed had to screw it up.

The local hometown Huskie newspaper may have summed it all up the best. The New Haven Register reported, while ESPN spent the entire season promoting the trio of seniors, it was not Baylor’s Brittney Griner, Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins or Elena Delle Donne of Delaware who dazzled the nation during the women’s Final Four. Brittney Griner and  Elena Delle Donne both lost in the Sweet 16. Notre Dame and Skylar Diggins, who had previously beat UCONN three times this year, were crushed by the Huskies in the National Semi Finals 83-65. So, instead of the three that ESPN promoted … the role was more than ably filled by UConn freshman Breanna Stewart. And will be for years to come.
