The Plane Facts: John Boehner to Fly Commercial as House Speaker … Parks Nancy Pelosi’s Over Priced Air Force Jet

The GOP changes begin to differentiate the new House from Pelosi’s old one …

Soon to be House Speaker, John Boehner (R-OH) makes a symbolic gesture to show that the GOP got the message from the 2010 midterm elections. Boehner says he will fly commercial, rather than use the Air Force jet formerly used by Speaker Pelosi. Many had speculated what Boehner would do with Peloi’s lavish air travel in a time when most Americans could not even afford coach air fare. Out of control and wasteful government spending was obviously on the minds of voters in the 2010 midterm elections.   The “plane” fact is … the GOP looks to change many House rules.

Boehner’s decision would be a change in protocol from Nancy Pelosi and her predecessor, former Speaker Dennis Hastert, who usually flew back and forth to their home states in whichever Air Force aircraft was available for their use, typically a 12-seat jet.

Beyond changing travels arrangements, Boehner also said he wants the House of Representatives to be more open and transparent than in years past. To tackle that job, he has tapped Rep. Greg Walden to lead a group of GOP members to propose changes to House rules and procedures. The group began meeting Tuesday and will keep talking throughout the week.

Following the midterm election according to Gallup, John Boehner’s approval image has improved but Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s has not. Boehner is viewed favorably by 34%, up from 27% in mid-October. Many still do not know who Boehner is; however, they certainly know Reid, who has high disapproval ratings. Makes one wonder what the people of Nevada were tinking to reelect him back to the US Senate.

Americans’ opinions of House Republican Leader John Boehner, who is in line to be the speaker of the House in the new Congress, improved after the midterm elections. Though 4 in 10 Americans are still unfamiliar with Boehner, more Americans now rate him positively than negatively, a shift from three prior 2010 readings, including one taken in mid-October.

As the Hot Air Pundit says, would we ever see Pelosi travel with the common folk as Speaker? Not on your live, “not even if they were giving away free Botox”.

A special hat tip to Atlas Shruggs for the retrospective to Nancy Pelosi, wow … things have come a long way. Love the retro! What will Pelosi be most known for … “We Have to Pass Our Bill So That You Can Find Out What Is In It”. Some how for Dems and the MSM it is a badge of honor for Pelosi to have strong armed and overwhelming majority of Democrats in the House to vote for unpopular legislation that lost them control of the House.

Nancy Pelosi Plans Big Bash to Celebrate “Accomplishments” like Increasing Spending, Debt and Losing the House

Welcome to the FACEof the Democrat party and the 60+ loss of House seats in the 2010 midterm election … We can obviously see Nancy Pelosi did not get the message of the American voters.

Talk about out of touch, from the Drudge Report,  Nancy Pelosi is planning to throw a big bash to celebrate her “accomplishments.” Maybe she would also like to throw a party for herself in trying to become the Democrat House Minority leader? After all, Pelosi is responsible for the Democrats becoming the minority party in the House, why not reward her.

PELOSI PLANNING PARTY FOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Mon Nov 08 2010 16:34:33 ET

Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the United States House of Representatives requests the pleasure of your company at a reception honoring the Accomplishments of the 111th Congress on Wednesday, the tenth day of November, two thousand ten at three thirty in the afternoon Cannon Caucus Room 345 Cannon House Office Building.

The House losses might get even worse for Democrats as the GOP leads in 5 of 9 yet to be called races. In the end, the GOP House pick up might be 65 seats.

CA-11: Democrat Jerry McNerney is up 548 votes, but tens of thousands of mail-in and provisional ballots are still to be counted.
CA-20: Andy Vidak (R), a cherry farms, leads incumbent Jim Costa (D) by 648 votes.
IL-8: Republican Joe Walsh leads by 365 votes over incumbent Melissa Bean (D).
KY-6: County officials affirmed Ben Chandler’s (D) lead. The Lexington Herald-Leader: “U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Versailles, leads Republican Andy Barr by 649 votes, according to official vote totals from all 16 counties in the 6th Congressional District.
NY-1 (Suffolk County, Long Island): After a voting machine recanvass, Randy Altschuler (R) has taken over the lead from incumbent Tim Bishop (D).
NY-25: Tea Party-backed Ann Marie Buerkle (R) leads Dann Maffei (D) by 684 votes.
TX-27: Solomon Ortiz (D) trails by 799 792 votes with all the votes in. He’s going to request a recount.

VA-11: Gerry Connolly (D) claimed victory for a narrow win. By the way, he was hospitalized for an undisclosed condition.
WA-2: Rick Larsen (D) leads by 3,841 votes, a slight loss of votes from 4,100 after counting in Snohomish County.

The Gateway Pundit reminds us of other great Pelosi accomplishments like helping, along with Obama and Reid,  to triple the national debt in one year, see unemployment rise on her watch and lose the House in near record numbers.

EXIT QUESTION … Would Winston Churchill have thrown a party?

San Fran Nancy Pelosi Says She Will Run for Democrat House Minority Leader

San Fran Nan just won’t go away … Pelosi says she will run for the Democrat Minority leadership in the House.

Nancy Pelosi will soon have the gavel ripped from her hands after the 61+ US House  pickups after the 2010 midterm elections; however,Pelosi says she will run for Democrat minority leader. How out of touch is Pelosi and the Democrat party if they actually continue to make Pelosi the face of the Democrat House?

Nancy Pelosi has become the gift that keeps on giving …

I’m Back!!!

Pelosi told collegues in a letter that “our work is not finished” and announced her plans to the world via Twitter shortly thereafter by posting this message: “Driven by the urgency of creating jobs & protecting [health care reform and Wall Street reform], Social Security & Medicare, I am running for Dem Leader,” Pelosi Tweeted.

Nancy Pelosi has become like Jason from Friday the 13th … she just wont go away. The Democrat party has lost their collective minds if the elect Pelsoi minority leader, an individual with a job approval rating in the toilet.

For some shell-shocked House Democrats who held on in tough districts Tuesday, Pelosi’s decision is a bad dream come true.

Republicans Picked Up 680 Seats in State Legislatures in 2010 Elections … Redistricting Could Echo a Decade

Talk about the wrong kind of political coattails … Obama, Reid and Pelosi cost even Democrat state legislature individual their races. The real story of the 2010 elections the 680 seats picked up in state legislatures by the Republicans in 2010.

Barack Obama and the Democrats picked a bad time to go against the will of the people and get crushed in the 2010 midterm elections. If the 61+ US House Reps and 6 US Senate pick ups by the GOP was not bad enough, the most damaging tsunami for Democrats just might have been the Governor races and state legislatures. So far the GOP picked up 7 governorships with Connecticut and Minnesota still yet to be called.

The least covered and what might be the most important story of the 2010 midterm elections was the 680 State Legislature seats picked up by the Republicans. Does every one just remember the US Census that was just conducted? What follows the Census is redistricting. With all the state governors that are now Republican and both chambers of the state legislatures, the GOP holds the political trifecta or the“Perfect political storm” in 15 states. Just how bad was this Democrat slaughter in the state legislatures, as Weasil Zippers states, “to put it in perspective, 1994’s GOP wave picked up 472 seats…”.

Republicans picked up 680 seats in state legislatures, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures — the most in the modern era. To put that number in perspective: In the 1994 GOP wave, Republicans picked up 472 seats. The previous record was in the post-Watergate election of 1974, when Democrats picked up 628 seats.

Blue Dog Democrats Ask Pelosi to Step Down Party Leader After GOP Shellacking

Will Nancy Pelosi step down  as the Democratic leader and leave Congress … ABC says not so fast.

Days after the 60+ US House  shellacking, Blue Dog Democrats ask Nancy Pelosi to step down from leadership role in Democrat party. The once mighty Blue Dog Democrats who were shattered in this past 2010 midterm election as they were reduced to “whipped pups” as they lost 29 of 54 seats.

One thing is for certain … Ding, Dong … Pelosi is no longer Speaker

An elder statesman of the moderate Blue Dog Coalition is calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to step down from party leadership after a historic election in which she presided over the loss of 60 seats and control of the House.

Utah Rep. Jim Matheson, a co-chairman of the Blue Dogs, told POLITICO on Thursday that Pelosi should not be a candidate for minority leader —a sign that other Blue Dogs are ready to pounce if Pelosi doesn’t voluntarily cede her power.

“No,” Matheson said flatly when asked if Pelosi should seek the job. “We just got whupped.”

As the Gateway Pundit aptly states, Democrats should have listened to Evan Bayh. It is hard to believe that Democrats would want to head into the 2012 election cycle after having their butts handed to them in the 2010 midterms with both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as their leaders. The image to the American people would be that Democrats learned nothing and would use both of them as political targets. After all, Speaker Pelosi stated, she had “no regrets”.
