California Police Reopen 16-Year-Old Cold Case of Missing Woman, Diana Rojas

As reported at FOX News, the California police have reopened a 16 year old missing persons cold case for Diana Rojas after receiving an anonymous tip. Diana Rojas was 27 when she disappeared in October 2000.According to accounts, she was a church worker and the mother of a 2-year-old and Long Beach police believe she was murdered.

California homicide detectives reopened the 16-year-old cold case of a missing woman last week after getting an anonymous tip.

The tipster called cops to say where the woman’s body had been buried, KNBC-TV reported.

Following the tip, police drove 100 miles northeast to Ridgecrest on Thursday and dug four holes in the desert with the help of a backhoe and ground penetrating radar, according to the station.

After several hours the search was called off in the middle of the afternoon, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported.

UPDATE I: Search Begins for Remains in 16-Year-Old Long Beach Cold Case.

Excavation began Thursday in the Kern County desert as authorities conducted a search for remains in connection with the disappearance of a Long Beach woman 16 years ago.

Diana Rojas, 27, was last seen Oct. 20, 2000, at an apartment in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue, where she lived with her 2-year-old daughter, according to the Long Beach Police Department. She is believed to have been murdered.

Her pickup was never found. It was a 1992 Nissan Extended Cab pickup, black with white pinstripes, with Texas license number BY3242. Police circulated her photo and listed her description as being of Filipino and Hispanic descent, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 115 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Carl Conyers, the son of US Rep. John Conyers (MI-D), has been missing since Tuesday, November 15, in Houston, Texas. Conyers was last seen by his roommate Tuesday afternoon on the 3700 block of Southmore in Houston.  The apartment is not far from the university campus where he is a student. U.S. Rep. John Conyers on Thursday said he is “very worried” after his 21-year-old son was reported missing Tuesday from his apartment near the University of Houston.

“We’ve notified the FBI,” Conyers told The Detroit News about his missing son, Carl Conyers, who is a students at the university. “I’m very worried. It’s very unlike him. He’s a very stable young guy.”

At the U.S. Capitol Thursday, Conyers said his wife Monica is in Texas.

Carl Conyers was last seen by his roommate Tuesday afternoon on the 3700 block of Southmore in Houston, said Kese Smith, public information officer for the Houston Police Department. The apartment is not far from the university campus.

“We are working with the FBI and the Secret Service, and there is also an outside, private organization called Equusearch,” Smith said. “They’ve been contacted and they’ll be lending their assistance to help canvas the area.”

UPDATE I: Carl Conyers Found Safe and Unharmed.

The missing 21-year-old UH student and son of a Michigan congressman has been found safe.

The mother of Carl Conyers has confirmed that her son is alive and safe and back with her Friday morning.

Conyers’ mother, Monica, got the call from UH Police overnight. She says the details of how he was found are still unclear to her. She says her son needed a shower and hadn’t eaten. He’s now resting.

Conyers is the son of U.S. Rep. John Conyers, of Michigan, and his Monica.

21 Year Old University of Maryland Student Kaitlyn George Missing Since 11/10/16 in College Park, MD

21 year old University of Maryland coed Kaitlyn George has been missing since November 10, 2016 in College Park, Maryland.  She’s described as 5’3 120 pounds, last seen wearing a green jacket, black leggings and a black and white backpack. Her family says she was supposed to go camping Thursday with her boyfriend but never showed up. Kaitlyn George was last seen by her roommates at Allegany Hall Thursday afternoon around 4:00 p.m.

The search continues for a missing student at the University of Maryland, 21-year-old Kaitlyn George. Police and family are pleading for the public’s help to find her.

Detectives are interviewing her friends and potential witnesses. Her family says she was supposed to go camping Thursday with her boyfriend but never showed up.

“It is out of character she’s a responsible young lady. She takes leadership training she got certified in outdoor rescue last summer,” said Jeanine Bryde, George’s Aunt.

George, who’s from New Jersey, was last spotted Thursday afternoon around 4:00 p.m.

Police say the 21-year-old student was last seen at Allegany Hall on the south side of campus, heading towards the Eppley Rec Center. Her family says she was being harassed before she went missing, but police don’t suspect foul play.

Two Des Moines, Iowa Police Officers Killed in Apparent Ambush Attacks … Suspects Still At Large

WHO-TV is reporting that two police officers were killed overnight in what is being called as an “ambush-style attack” in Des Moines, Iowa. The incident started at 1:06 a.m. Wednesday with a report of shots fired near 70th and Aurora. The first officer who arrived at that scene found an Urbandale police officer suffering from a gunshot wound. About 20 minutes later, a Des Moines police officer was found shot at the intersection of Merle Hay Road and Sheridan Drive. The names of the officers who were killed have not been released at this time in order to contact and notify their families first. So far, there has been no information about a potential suspect or suspects released by police. There have been no information on a suspect and no arrests have been made at this time.

According to Des Moines police the incident started at 1:06 a.m. Wednesday with a report of shots fired near 70th and Aurora. Des Moines Police are describing the shootings as ambush-style attacks.

At an early morning news conference Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department called the attacks a “cowardly act.” He also said, “Somebody out there is shooting police officers. We hope we find him before anybody else gets hurt, we definitely don’t want any of the public, in the community to get hurt but there is a clear and present danger to police officers right now.”

As of a 5 a.m. press conference, police were still notifying the family members of the slain officers and planned to withhold the officers’ names, years of service and other details until later in the day, Parizek said.

Streets at both shooting scenes are closed as officers investigate, and classes have been canceled at Urbandale schools today. In Urbandale, the intersection of 70th Street and Aurora Avenue is closed, and in Des Moines, Merle Hay Road is closed between Urbandale Avenue and Hickman Road.

Police had no information on suspects as of 5 a.m. They could not say how many shots were fired or how many people may have been shooting.

Amber Alert Issued for Missing 4 Year Old Central Florida Rebecca Lewis (Update: Missing Florida Girl Found in Memphis, TN … Suspect West Wild Hogs Arrested)

An AMBER Alert has been issued for 4 year old Rebecca Lewis from Lakeland, Florida who was taken from her home Saturday morning by 31-year-old West Hogs. Saturday, surveillance footage captured 4-year-old Rebecca Lewis and a man named West Wild Hogs filling up at a gas station in Forsythe, Georgia. West Wild Hogs is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 220 pounds, with red hair, and blue-green eyes. He has a scar on the left side of his head in the shape of the letter “L” and a tattoo of a blue cross and a Chinese symbol.

Investigators are searching for a 4-year-old central Florida girl who they say was taken by a longtime family friend.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release the pair was spotted at a gas station in Forsythe, Georgia, on Saturday evening. They were in a car with a stolen Alabama license plate.

Investigators say 31-year-old West Hogs showed up at the family’s home Saturday morning and left with Rebecca Lewis. The girl’s 16-year-old sister says she saw Rebecca sleeping about 9 a.m. but when she woke up again 45 minutes later, the little girl was gone.

Monday morning, WFTS-TV in Tampa received information that the two were spotted at a state park near the Tennessee-Kentucky border, headed north on Interstate 75.

UPDATE I: TBI issues East Tennessee AMBER Alert for 4-year-old girl

Rebecca Lewis is 3-feet-tall, weights 30 pounds, has blonde hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a pink dress.

Officials believe she is with West Wild Hogs, a 5-foot-8, 31-year-old male who weighs 220 pounds and has red hair. You can recognize him by an “L” shaped scar on the left side of his head and a tattoo of a blue cross and another of a Chinese symbol.

Police say Hogs is an old family friend and hadn’t seen Rebecca in years. Authorities say he took her Saturday morning. Hogs is facing kidnapping charges.

Authorities believe the two are traveling in a 2012, silver Nissan Versa with an Alabama handicap tag number 4JL26. The vehicle has a magnetic animal rescue paw on the driver side portion of the trunk.

UPDATE II: Amber Alert: Missing girl, abductor possibly spotted in Tennessee

A Lakeland girl and the family friend who authorities say kidnapped her were possibly spotted Sunday night in northeast Tennessee.

A ranger at Cove Lake State Park in Campbell County, Tenn. reported seeing a man and child matching the descriptions of 4-year-old Rebecca Lewis and West Wild Hogs, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE III: 4 Year Old Rebecca Lewis Found Safe in Memphis, TN.

A missing 4-year-old central Florida girl was recovered in Tennessee on Monday, and the man who took her is in custody, authorities said.

Rebecca Lewis and West Wild Hogs, 31, were located in Memphis, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said on its Twitter page.

Memphis police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said police received a call from the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis at 12:57 p.m. A security official at the hospital told police that an employee recognized the man and the girl mentioned in the Amber Alert out of Florida, Rudolph said.

When police pulled up to the hospital, they saw the car mentioned in the Amber Alert pulling out of the parking garage, Rudolph said. Officers stopped the car in the parking lot and found the man and the girl inside.
