Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne Announces Madison Police Officer Matt Kenny Will Not Face Any Charges in the March 2015 Shooting Death of Bi-Racial Teen Tony Robinson (VIDEO)

NO CHARGES FOR OFFICER KENNY IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF TONY ROBINSON …

Today, Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne announced that there will be no criminal charges filed against Madison, WI police officer Matt Kenny in the shooting death of 19 year old Tony Robinson. The district attorney Ozanne announced that it was a “lawful use of deadly police force.” Ozanne, in the video below, detailed the evidence that he reviewed before making his decision and then described the three 911 calls that were made prior to police being called to the scene. Orzanne  described how the callers said that Robinson was “tweaking, chasing everybody” and his other bizarre and erratic and violent behavior.

The Madison, Wisconsin, police officer who fatally shot a 19-year-old will not be criminally charged for the shooting since the district attorney announced today that it was a “lawful use of deadly police force.”

Officer Matt Kenny fatally shot Robinson on March 6 after police received a disturbance call. Robinson had allegedly been running in traffic and Kenny forced himself into an apartment that Robinson had run into. Robinson and Kenny got into an altercation inside the home and Kenny shot Robinson in his head, torso and right arm, authorities said.

“My decision is not based on emotion. Rather this decision is based on the facts as they have been investigated and reported to me,” Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said at a news conference this afternoon.

In the end after Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne laid out all of the facts that took place that day, no charges could be filed against officer Kenny. No criminal charges could have ever been charged. Sometimes a suspects actions are so outrageous and threatening that a police officers only action is that of “lawful use of deadly police force.” Anyone who protests this as no clue of the rule of law, authority and does not care.

The Wisconsin police officer who shot and killed a 19-year-old unarmed biracial man won’t face criminal charges in the case.

“I conclude that this tragic and unfortunate death was the result of a lawful use of deadly police force and that no charges should be brought against Officer Kenny in the death of Tony Robinson Jr.,” Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said Tuesday.

Robinson was fatally shot by Officer Matt Kenny, who is white, in Madison, Wisconsin, on March 6, setting off days of protests in the city. His death came amid lingering tensions over the killings by police elsewhere of other unarmed African-Americans that seized national attention.

The police union praised Tuesday’s announcement.

“We believe the district attorney’s decision today to exonerate Officer Matthew Kenny was appropriate,” Wisconsin Professional Police Association Executive Director Jim Palmer said in a statement. “The exhaustive, independent and transparent investigation into this tragic incident has confirmed that Officer Kenny’s actions on the night of March 6 were lawful and in response to a deadly threat, from which Officer Kenny sustained numerous injuries, including a concussion.

UPDATE I: Family of Tony Robinson … “This is not over:” Disappointed over decision in Madison, folks take to streets, vow to keep fighting.

Sorry, it is over. The police officer did not create the deadly situation, that was on Tony Robinson . The only truthful thing this attorney said was that this was a tragedy. Of course any time a 19 year old id dead, it is a tragedy. However, please spare us the BS that this was caused by a police officer. Tony Robinson’s actions are on him. He is responsible for his actions and the drug induced, erratic and violent state he was in.

Following the announcement, support for Tony Robinson’s family spilled into the streets of Madison — with supporters marching on Robinson’s behalf.

Tony Robinson’s family members and those who support them said they were disappointed by District Attorney Ozanne’s decision not to file charges in this case.

Hundreds marched through the streets of Madison — showing support for the family.

They say Tuesday’s decision won’t stop them from continuing to fight for justice.

“The loss this family has experienced is almost impossible to put into words,” Jon Loevy, the attorney for the Robinson family said.

George Zimmerman Injuried in Shooting Incident in Lake Mary, FL (Update: Atty. Mark NeJame Says Apperson Shot in Self-Defense)(Update: Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon)

As reported at WESH, George Zimmerman was injured today in a shooting incident in Lake Mary, Florida. According to reports, Zimmerman suffered a minor gunshot wound. The police said that the individual who shot at Zimmerman was the same man, Matthew Apperson, who has had an on-going feud with Zimmerman. According to the police, George Zimmerman did not fire any shots, according to police.  Zimmerman was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital, and was quickly released. The two have an ongoing dispute and were involved in an altercation in September 2014, when Apperson accused Zimmerman of trying to kill him in a road-rage encounter.

George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watchman, was found not guilty of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin in 2013.

George Zimmerman suffered minor injuries in a shooting incident in Lake Mary on Monday afternoon, according to Lake Mary police.

Zimmerman flagged down an officer shortly after the incident, police said.

“He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” said witness Ricardo Berrare. “They actually backed up the ambulance next to his driver side so he could walk into the door.”

Chopper 2 video showed a bullet hole in the passenger window of the vehicle Zimmerman was in.

“At this time, the investigation has proven that George Zimmerman was not the shooter,” Lake Mary Police Department spokeswoman Bianca Gillette said.

Zimmerman was hit in the face with glass and debris and has since been released from Central Florida Regional Hospital, according to police.

Kenneth Cornell, who works at the nearby Cyrus Diagnostic Imaging, said Apperson ran up to him about 1 p.m. saying he had just shot George Zimmerman.

Cornell said he called 911 and handed the phone over to Apperson.

“He said it was a road rage incident, that they were driving down the street and George pulled a gun on him,” Cornell said.

Zimmerman was hit in the face with glass and debris, police told WESH. Investigators are waiting to speak with both men, who sustained “minor injuries” and have been released from the hospital, Gillett said less than four hours after the shooting.

Police Chief Steve Bracknell told WESH that the shooting may have been related to an “ongoing dispute.”

UPDATE I: Attorney Mark NeJame Says His Client shot at George Zimmerman in self-defense.

The attorney for a Seminole County man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman during a road rage incident on Monday said he opened fire in self-defense.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident on Lake Mary Boulevard and involved Matthew Apperson, of Winter Springs, a man involved in another confrontation with Zimmerman in September.

“He simply maintained that he acted in self-defense,” attorney Mark NeJame said. “We see everything to suggest that that is correct.”

UPDATE II: Man charged with shooting George Zimmerman must turn in weapons, avoid contact with him.

The Winter Springs man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman in Lake Mary earlier this week must turn in his weapons and avoid contact with him, a judge ruled this morning.

Matthew Apperson, 35 of Winter Springs, was charged Friday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and firing a deadly missile into an occupied conveyance.

“I don’t care whether you’ve been shopping at Publix for two hours and have a full cart of groceries, or whatever. You see Mr. Zimmerman walking through that door, you’re the one who has to leave,” Circuit Judge Michael Rudisill told Apperson during his first appearance this morning at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.

Typically, people arrested are ordered to stay away from specific places where the people they are accused of attacking live or work. But in this case, Zimmerman did not want his whereabouts made public, Rudisill said.

“I don’t know where he’s going to be, I can’t tell you where not to be,” Rudisill told Apperson.

But if Apperson happens to see Zimmerman, he is not allowed to interact with him, Rudisill said.

UPDATE III: Man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman surrenders guns.

The man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman bonded out of jail over the weekend and has surrendered his guns and ammunition to law enforcement, police said.

Matthew Apperson, 36, appeared in court Saturday charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and firing a deadly missile into an occupied conveyance, police said.

He bonded out of jail that same day and then surrendered his weapons on Sunday, as ordered by a judge. His arraignment has been set for June 23.

4th Suspect Cornelius Clark Arrested in the Murders of Mississippi Police Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate

4TH SUSPECT ARRESTED …

A fourth suspect has been arrested in the shooting deaths of Hattiesburg, MS police officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate. 28 year old Cornelius Clark has been charged with obstruction of justice. Officers Deen, 34, and Tate, 25, were fatally shot during a traffic stop on East Fourth Street in Hattiesburg shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday night. Previously,  Curtis Banks, 26, and Marvin Banks, 29, and Joanie Calloway, 22 were arrested in connection with the murder of the two police officers.

A memorial service for Hattiesburg patrolmen Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Lake Terrace Convention Center.

Two police officers have been shot in the line of duty in Hattiesburg, MS Saturday night in what began as a routine traffic stop. Sadly, it became much more violent as two police officers were gunned down. The two were taken to the hospital where later Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict confirmed the deaths of officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate.

We have said this over and over at SM, that for police officers, there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. A police officer never knows when they approach a vehicle, especially at night, who or what they are about to encounter when they pull some one over. With what happened in Hattiesburg, Mississippi is exactly why police act like they do when they approach a vehicle.

The two Hattiesburg, Mississippi police officers that were murdered Saturday night following what was supposed to be a routine police stop were  34-year-old Benjamin Deen and 25-year-old Liquori Tate. One, was a great police officer and the other, a rookie to the force.  Deen as a past department “Officer of the Year” and Tate as a newcomer.  Tate was a recent graduate from the police academy who posted on his Facebook page that he graduated June 11 and thanked all who made it possible.

Tate graduated South Pike High School and attended Southwest Mississippi Community College before joining the Hattiesburg Police Department.

Deen, 34, was a K-9 officer. He was named HPD Officer of the Year in 2012.

UPDATE II: 2 Mississippi officers fatally shot; 3 suspects arrested.

Authorities arrested Curtis Banks, 26, and Marvin Banks, 29, and Joanie Calloway, 22, early Sunday morning. They were taken to Troop J of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, where they were to be questioned by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Marvin Banks was charged with two counts of capital murder, grand theft auto, and a felon in possession of a firearm; Joanie Calloway was charged with two counts of capital murder; and Curtis Banks was charged with accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Three suspects were arrested Sunday after two police officers were shot and killed during a traffic stop in Hattiesburg, Miss. Two of the suspects were charged with capital murder.

Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict confirmed that both officers had died at Forrest General Hospital. Benedict identified the officers as Benjamin Deen, 34, of the Sumrall area and Liquori Tate, 25, of Hattiesburg.

Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. said Marvin Banks, 29, and Joanie Calloway, 22, were each charged with two counts of capital murder.

Banks was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was also charged with grand theft for fleeing in the police cruiser after the shooting, Strain said.

“He absconded with a Hattiesburg police cruiser. He didn’t get very far, three or four blocks and then he ditched that vehicle,” Strain said.

Banks’ 26-year-old brother, Curtis Banks, was charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Another one of America’s finest dressed in blue has died at the hands of a dirt-bag career criminal. Idaho Police Officer Sgt. Greg Moore has died from his wounds after being shot by 26 year old Jonathan Renfro. The 16 year veteran of the police force was gunned down at approximately 1:35 AM Tuesday after checking on a suspicious person in the 2800 block of Wilbur Ave. in the Sunshine Meadows neighborhood. Renfro was a career criminal and now will either spend the rest of his life in prison or be put to death. Preferably the latter.

Police officers put their lives on the line every day and never know what danger they will face. Around ever corner they face peaceful citizen breaking the law with no dangerous intent and then there are those that have nothing but bad intentions. The overwhelming majority of police officers are fine individuals tasked with protecting and serving their communities. Sgt. Greg Moore was one of those fine police officers, Rest in Peace.

A northern Idaho police officer shot by a man who stole his patrol car died of his injuries Tuesday evening, police said.

Sgt. Greg Moore died at 5:50 p.m. local time at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, police spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood said in a statement.

Moore was shot about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after checking on a suspicious person in a neighborhood, Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White said.

Police arrested Jonathan Renfro, 26, after a car chase that reached speeds of 125 mph. The pursuit ended when a police dog dragged the man from his hiding place underneath a commercial truck.

Renfro appeared in court Tuesday afternoon and was charged with attempted murder, theft of a police vehicle, theft of an officer’s gun and being a felon with a gun. Bail was set at $2 million. He was held in the Kootenai County, Idaho, jail.

Moore, a 16-year veteran of the Coeur d’Alene department, called dispatch to get information on Renfro, White said. Not long after, a resident called police.
