Thousands of Police Officers Pay Their Respect Today at Funeral for 32 Year Old NYPD Officer Wenjian Liu (Update: Tearful & Amazing Tribute by the Widow of Slain Officer) (VIDEO)
For the second time in a week, a Sea of Blue gathers in Brooklyn, NY for the funeral of police officer Wenjian Liu.
Tens of thousands of police officers from across the United States to attend the funeral of slain NYPD officer Wenjian Liu. They came to the Brooklyn funeral home to honor Wenjian Liu, who is believed to be the New York Police Department’s first Chinese-American officer killed in the line of duty.
Wenjian Li, Rest in Peace
Thousands of police officers are paying their respect to a New York Police Department officer shot to death along with his partner as mourners converge from around the country Sunday for a second funeral that stands to test tensions between the city’s mayor and police.
Buddhist monks will lead a Chinese ceremony for Officer Wenjian Liu, followed by a traditional police ceremony with eulogies led by a chaplain. Liu, 32, had served as a policeman for seven years and was married just two months when he was killed with his partner, Officer Rafael Ramos, on Dec. 20.
Officer Lucas Grant of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in Augusta, Georgia, said he came to Liu’s funeral with about six other officers from neighboring departments “to support our family.”
“When one of us loses our lives, we have to come together,” Grant said.
As Liu’s family arrived for his funeral, Police Commissioner William Bratton tweeted: “We will never forget his sacrifice.”
For a Second Time, Police Officers Gather for the Funeral of an Officer Killed in an Ambush.
Scores of officers in pressed blue uniforms — among thousands crowded in the rain outside the funeral of one of their own — turned their backs on Mayor Bill de Blasio as he delivered a eulogy on Sunday praising the slain officer as an example of a “brave” and “kind” New Yorker who came to the city from China and followed a dream to join the Police Department.
The show of disrespect, which included both New York City officers and those who joined them in mourning from around the country, mirrored a similar display just over a week before at the funeral of Officer Rafael Ramos, in Queens. In the wet streets of southern Brooklyn on Sunday morning, many turned again from their somber ranks at the funeral of his partner, Officer Wenjian Liu.
The silent protest came despite a request on Friday from the police commissioner, William J. Bratton, that officers leave their recent grievances with the mayor out of the sober ceremony on Sunday.
“This city welcomed detective Liu,” the mayor said in his remarks. “New York stands a little taller today because of the time he walked among us.”
Pei Xia Chen, Det. Wenjian Liu’s widow, gave a passionate, tearful, beautiful tribute to her husband, calls NYPD her extended family, her “family in blue.” She thanked those that traveled from near and far to pay respects to her husband. Pei Xia Chen said that Wenjian Liu was her soul mate and her best friend, but was much, much more. She also said that she was his number one fan. All anyone needs to do is watch the video below to understand Wenjian Liu was an amazing man and what a great man and hero that he was. May Wenjian Liu rest in eternal peace.

Police Commissioner Bratton Tells NYPD, Don’t Turn Your Backs on Mayor de Blasio at Officer Wenjian Liu’s Funeral
SHAME ON NEW YORK CITY POLICE COMMISSIONER BILL BRATTON, HE HAS BECOME NOTHING MORE THAN A SUIT BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY THE MAYORS OFFICE …
New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton has warned NYPD officers not to turn their backs on NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio this Sunday at the funeral of Officer Wenjian Liu. Bratton released a memo to the NYPD pretty much chastising them for their behavior at officer Rafael Ramos’ funeral. Bratton stated in the memo that a “hero’s funeral is about grieving, not grievance.” The memo further went on to attack the NYPD, blaming the officers involved with taking attention away from the funeral and ruining the NYPD’s reputation.
UNREAL. Bratton best watch out or the NYPD rank and file officers will be turning their backs on him next. I could not disagree with Commissioner Bratton more. It sounds like this once cop is nothing more than bureaucratic shill for Mayor de Blasio. The NYC mayor has shown no effort to mend the riff that he created between himself and the NYPD. In fact he has made it worse by reappointing Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson to another year term on Wednesday, the same judge who let individuals out of jail without bail who made terrorist threats against police officers, one of who was a gang member.
Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is so worried his cops will turn their backs to his boss, Mayor Bill de Blasio, at another NYPD funeral that he sent out a memo to shame them into good behavior, sources told The Post.
“A hero’s funeral is about grieving, not grievance,” began the four-paragraph plea, which is being read at precinct roll calls ahead of slain Officer Wenjian Liu’s Sunday service.
Bratton won’t punish officers who choose to turn their backs to de Blasio — which was done in droves at the funeral for fallen Officer Rafael Ramos — but he pleaded with the rank and file to shelve their anger.
“I issue no mandates and I make no threats of discipline,” the memo said. “But I remind you that when you don the uniform of this department, you are bound by the tradition, honor, and decency that go with it.”
Police Commissioner Bratton should most likely shut up and allow the NYPD officer to express their First Amendment rights and freedom of expression. Other than going on strike and letting the masses fend for themselves, the only way they can dispaly the lack of support for the mayor is by doing such peaceful protests. As the NYPD are turning their backs on de Blasio, who had turned his back on law enforcement long ago by with words and deeds, the NYPD also does it in solidarity with slain officers like Officer Wenjian Liu. De Blaio and Bratton would like all to forget, but make no mistake, the NYC Mayor has blood on his hands.

De Blasio Has No Intention of Fixing Riff with NYPD … NYC Mayor Reappointed Brooklyn Judge Laura Johnson
NYC Mayor Continues to poke his finger in the eyes of the NYPD … De Blazio is a Disgrace.
It would appear that NYC Mayor Bill De Blazio plans to challenge Barack Obama for the #1 community agitator of 2015. After saying that he supports police and wants to bridge the divide that currently exists between the NYPD and the Mayors office, De Blazio reappointed Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson to another year on Wednesday. This is the same judge who let individuals out of jail without bail who made terrorist threats against police officers. One of who was a gang member charged with posting police death threats online. REALLY? This is the mayor that wants to make amends with the police? What a crock.
Sergeants union chief Ed Mullins said of De Blasio’s actions, “He had the opportunity to demonstrate good will and support for the police, and he once again has demonstrated the opposite.” Dennis Quirk, the head of the state court officers union, called de Blasio’s decision “a disgrace.”
NYC Mayor De Blazio, left – Judge Laura Johnson, right
Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered another blow to New York’s Finest on Wednesday when he reappointed a Brooklyn judge who freed without bail two men who threatened cops just days after the Bed-Stuy double police assassination.
The stunning decision came even as one of the suspects — a gang member charged with posting police death threats online — skipped a court date and had a warrant out for his arrest, sources said.
Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson had faced a midnight expiration of her term. She was appointed by then-Mayor Mike Bloomberg in January 2013.
Her one-year, interim reappointment by de Blasio outraged law enforcement officials a day after he met with the heads of five police unions to heal his fractured relationship with cops.
“The mayor’s actions of reappointing this judge are completely hypocritical to his argument that he’s pro-police and counterproductive to what he claims to be an effort to open dialogue going forward,” said sergeants union chief Ed Mullins.
“He had the opportunity to demonstrate good will and support for the police, and he once again has demonstrated the opposite.”
The head of the state court officers union, Dennis Quirk, called de Blasio’s decision “a disgrace.”
With these types of actions by De Blazio, no one has the right to tell the NYPD that they have no right to turn their backs to this Judas.
UPDATE I: The Daily News discusses whether de Blasio’s tense relationship with the NYPD casting shadow over DNC bid for 2016.
In other words, Democrat Party officials could care less that their liberal NYC mayor does not support the people who protect and serve, but rather the optics and how it will cast a bad light on Democrats. Screw the police, this is just about the further liberal politicization of the police doing their job.
Party officials are concerned the bad blood might still be an issue when the convention is held in 2016, stealing the spotlight from the party’s presidential nominee, a top Democrat told the Daily News.
“They’re worried about the optics,” said the source, who is familiar with the Democratic National Committee’s deliberations.
“Will [the police] turn their backs on the mayor? They don’t want side stories. The story should be the convention.”
