Anna Nicole Smith’s lawyer and companion, Howard K. Stern, filed a $60 million libel lawsuit Tuesday against Rita Cosby and her publisher over a book she wrote that claims Stern and Smith’s ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, had a sexual encounter.
The suit, filed in federal court in New York, seeks $10 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages from Cosby, the former MSNBC host who wrote “Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death” — and Hachette Book Group USA Inc.
The book, which hit stores in September, claims that besides the alleged sexual encounter, Birkhead and Stern both worked together after Smith’s death to manipulate the media and maximize profits. (AP)

Anna Nicole’s ex sues Stern for $100 million
Mark Hatten claims that Howard K. Stern tried to murder him
Did anyone notice how Debra Opri sued Larry Birkhead and not Larry King for the comments made by Birkhead on Larry King Live. What a novel concept to go after the one who said the comments, not the messenger.
Larry Birkhead is to be sued by his former attorney for defamation, fraud and breach of contract.
Debra Opri filed a lawsuit at the County Superior Court in Los Angeles on Monday accusing her former client of slander during an appearance on the talk show “Larry King Live.”

Hollywood Injustice: Phil Spector Case … Hung Jury … Mistrial, DA States there Will be Retrial
Another case of Hollywood Injustice …
If it’s a Los Angeles jury and a celebrity murder case, then it must be another clueless hung jury. Such was the case once again in the Phil Spector murder case. the 67 year old Phil Spector was accused of shooting 40-year-old actress Lana Clarkson. It may finally be time to have potential jurors to take IQ tests prior to serving on juries.
Once again we have been witness to a judicial system that has a severe flaw when it comes to celebrities. The celebrity defence of Spector and alike is the best that money can buy. When it comes to celebrities, justice is not blind … its all about the dollars.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler declared a mistrial after jurors told him they were deadlocked, 10-2. KNBC’s Doug Kriegel reported that the 10-2 split was in favor of conviction.
“At this time, I will find that the jury is unable to arrive at a verdict and declare a mistrial in this matter,” the judge said. (KNBC)

Michael Vick’s Judgement and Career … Up in Smoke, Tests Positive for Marijuana
Vick: Bad guy or bad judgement?
Dog fighting, marijuana, what’s next for “Con”-Vick?
There has been a continued debate as to whether disgraced Atlanta Falcon quarterback is a bad guy or just an individual with incredibly poor judgement. The dog fighting charges against Vick are as heinous an act as there is. The visual imagery of the treatment of dogs that win in the pit are bad enough as compared to the ones that lose or are deemed not viscous enough to even compete.
Michael Vick supporters and apologists have stated that he is not a bad guy, just someone who used bad judgement. That might be the understatement of the year. I guess this is just more Vick bad judgement.

Phil Spector Murder Case … Jury at an Impasse … Hung Jury???
NEWS FLASH: EARTH TO JURIES … CELEBRITIES MURDER PEOPLE TOO.
After seven days of deliberation, the jury in the Phil Spector murder case is at an impasse. Not again! Another notable celebrity, this time Phil Spector, about to walk on murder charges because a jury cannot get their act together. Phil Spector is accused of shooting 40 year old Lana Clarkson. Judge Larry Paul Fidler may instruct the jury to consider lesser charges.
In response, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler sent the jury home for the day, instructing them to return at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Fidler then told attorneys he was considering giving the jury the option of convicting Spector of involuntary manslaughter — a reduced charge from the second-degree murder count the panel is currently weighing.
