ESPN Sports Anchor Stuart Scott Has Died Age 49 after Battle with Cancer … However, He Will Always Be “As Cool as the Other Side of the Pillow”

It is a sad day in sports today, ESPN’s Stuart Scott has passed away at the age of 49 …

The longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott died Sunday morning after an extended battle with cancer, he was just 49 years old. Scott joined the ESPN in 1993 as the network was ramping up to launch ESPN2. That was just the launching bad for Scott as he steadily grew into one of ESPN’s most well-known, well liked and respected personalities … “Boo-Yah.” I remember the founding of ESPN in 1978, let along the launch of ESPN2 and let me just say Stuart Scott brought an energy and a fun and off the wall perspective to the broadcast that you truly looked forward to watching it. It is not very often that sports highlights were must-see TV, but that is the talent that this man had. Stuart Scott did the best thing that any sports anchor could do, he provided us with an escape from the real world and made sports fun. He talked about the games, plays and highlights like we would with our friends. God bless you Stuart Scott, our prayers go out to your family and friends … thank you … rest in peace.

REST IN PEACE STUART SCOTT

Stuart Scoot was first diagnoses with a rare form of cancer in November 2007. He took the vile disease publicly as he allowed us to share in his battle. So many of us either have been in Scott’s shoes or know some one personally who is. Stuart Scott helped us all deal with cancer in our own lives as he battled his. Scott was a beacon of light and remained so positive in his fight against cancer. One of the greatest lessons Stuart showed us all was to not let cancer paralyze you. He lived his life to the end on his terms and that meant being an ESPN sports anchor and commentator to the best of his ability. Please watch the VIDEO below of Scott’s moving speech, it is one of the best ever. For 7 years Scott battled cancer and kept the attitude that “fighting was winning, not quitting, not saying I have cancer, I can t do anything. ” Scott maintained the only way you lose against cancer is to not fight it and to just lay down and have a pity party for yourself.

His personality was infectious … Rest is peace Stuart Scott, you will forever be “as cool as the other side of the pillow.”

To all who have cancer, have known those who have cancer or currently know some one who is battling cancer, we need to remember the words that  Stuart Scott said during his speech after receiving the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYS on July 16, 2014. Please make sure to watch his acceptance speech below.

“When you die, it does not mean you lose to cancer. You beat cancer in how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live. So live, live, fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and have some body else fight for you. That’s also very important. I can’t do this “don’t give up thing” by myself. I got thousands of people on Twitter and on the streets who encourage me.”

ESPN:

Stuart Scott, a longtime anchor at ESPN, died Sunday morning at the age of 49.

Among the features of the new ESPN studio in Bristol is a wall of catchphrases made famous by on-air talent over the years. An amazing nine of them belong to one man — from his signature “Boo-Yah!” to “As cool as the other side of the pillow” to “He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin’ him to school.”

That man is Stuart Scott, and his contributions to the sports lexicon are writ large. But they are only one aspect of his legacy. When he passed away, he left behind so much more. He inspired his colleagues with his sheer talent, his work ethic and his devotion to his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15. He defied convention and criticism to help bring this network into a new century. He spoke to the very athletes he was talking about with a flair and a style that ESPN president John Skipper says, “changed everything.”

“He didn’t just push the envelope,” says sports radio host and former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick. “He bulldozed it.”

Stuart Scott was honored for his fight against cancer at the 2014 ESPY Awards, where he became the latest recipient of the Jimmy V ESPY Award for Perseverance. The award named for college basketball coach Jim Valvano, whose life was also taken by cancer in 1993, and who gave probably one of the greatest speeches in sports history that speaks to one’s everyday life, “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up”.

Stuart Scott’s Moving ESPYS Speech,

UPDATE I: Remembering Stuart Scott:

Steve Levy, who came to ESPN shortly before Stuart in August 1993 and served as his co-host for the first “SportsCenter” from the new studio last June, put it this way: “I think the audience recognized that when Stuart was on, there was going to be something special. And to his credit, he brought something special every night he was on.”

Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson Lets 18 Year Old Devon Coley Out of Jail without Bail After Posting Online Threats to Shoot Cops (Update: Judge Releases Travis Maye Without Bail After Punching Cop)

So this is the New York City’s judicial response following two police officers being killed and the endless death threats, cowardice appeasement?

Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson let 18 year old Devon Coley waltz free without a care in the world after he was arrested for making terrorist threats. The judge ignored prosecutors requests to keep Coley behind bars as she let the thug go free without bail. UNBELIEVABLE. Devon Coley posted online threats to gun down cops just hours after the shooting deaths of NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. Coley is believed to be a member of the  of the ATC/180HII Crew gang and is awaiting trial in two unrelated cases involving assault and gun possession.

The judge conceded that the posts were “stupid” and an “incredible inflammatory thing to do right now,” but added, “I think that for me to set bail because of the current climate — it would be a misuse of bail.”

WHAT!!! I GUESS THIS IS WHAT JUSTICE IS SUPPOSED TO LIKE LIKE IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY WHEN A THUG COMMITS A CRIME AGAINST THE POLICE?

Coley_threat_on_cops

Coley posted on Facebook a disturbing image of a gunman blasting away at a patrol car,
with the phrase “73Nextt” — a reference to the 73rd Precinct, which covers his Brownsville neighborhood.

A Brooklyn judge cut loose a gang member who had posted online threats to gun down cops in the hours after two NYPD officers were executed in their patrol car — ignoring prosecutors’ pleas to keep him behind bars, The Post has learned.

Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson let Devon Coley, 18, waltz free without bail despite the fact that he faces seven years behind bars on charges he made a terroristic threat — complete with an image of a killer shooting cops in their car — and is awaiting trial in two unrelated cases involving assault and gun possession.

Johnson’s stunning no-bail decision came just two days after Saturday’s broad-daylight slayings of Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu by a gunman bent on avenging the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown at the hands of police.

WTF

At the punks arraignment Monday night, Coley’s court-appointed lawyer painted him as a mere “knucklehead” who didn’t intend to make good on his threat. Forget the fact that the thug is a gang member and waiting trial in two unrelated cases involving assault and gun possession. Yeah right, he is just misunderstood. What the hell has infested the power structure in NYC? Between the Mayor and the judiciary, insane liberal logic appears to appease criminals and attach police authority.  Dennis Quirk, head of the state court officers union, said that “She should resign from the bench,”  and she is “not fit to be a judge.” Ya think?

UPDATE I: Insane Judge does it again … releases another cop hating thug, that’s 2 in 2 days.

Since when did NYC become a catch and release stream for criminal thugs? The same judge has now released another thug without bail after he had been arrested for punching a police officer. Maybe she would like to go for the hat trick after one of these punks kills another police officer.

She keeps turning ’em loose.

A day after freeing a gang member who posted an anti-cop death threat online, a Brooklyn judge ignored the admonishment of a court boss — and sprung a man who allegedly punched a police officer and threatened to kill his colleagues, The Post has learned.

Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson blatantly disregarded an Office of Court Administration boss who said she “should be setting an example to the public that threatening or assaulting police officers isn’t an acceptable thing,” a courthouse source said.

The admonishment came in the wake of Saturday’s execution-style slayings of two NYPD cops as they sat in a patrol car in Brooklyn.

On Tuesday night, Johnson released Travis Maye, 26, without bail following his arrest in a violent melee with cops earlier that day.

According to court records, Maye took swings at cops at Flatbush Avenue and Prospect Place at around 1:35 a.m., socking one officer in the eye and sending him to the hospital.

Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, Wisconsin Girls Ruled Competent to Stand Trial in Slenderman Stabbing Case

SLENDERMAN STABBING CASE … DON’T DO THE CRIME, IF YOU CAN’T DO THE TIME.

Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Michael Bohren has ruled that two Wisconsin girls, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, are competent to stand trial in the “Slenderman” stabbing case. The two girls, who were 12 years old at the time of the crime, were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide in the attack on their classmate the morning after a sleepover in May in Waukesha, WI. They stabbed their victim 19 times in an attempt to impress Slenderman, a tall, online bogeyman that they insisted was real. The victim survived the attack.

Slenderman

Two Wisconsin girls accused of luring a classmate into the woods and repeatedly stabbing her to please a fictional Internet character named Slenderman are competent to stand trial, a judge ruled on Thursday.

Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, both 12 at the time, were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide in the attack on their classmate the morning after a sleepover in May in Waukesha, a suburb west of Milwaukee.

The girls told investigators they attacked their classmate to impress Slenderman, a tall, online bogeyman that they insisted was real, according to a criminal complaint.

Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Michael Bohren ruled Weier competent to stand trial after hearing testimony from a psychiatrist called by the state.

Slenderman Stabbing

The attack:

Prosecutors have charged both girls with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the attack in May in Waukesha, Wisconsen. They say the girls plotted for months to kill classmate Payton Leutner, luring her to a wooded park after a sleepover and stabbing her 19 times. After her attackers left, Leutner crawled through the woods to a sidewalk where a bicyclist found her and called 911. The girls could be sentenced to up to 60 years in prison if convicted of attempted homicide as adults. However, they could be held until age 25 if convicted as juveniles.

Hollywood Producer Scott Rudin Apologizes For Racially Insensitive Comments that Surfaced in Hacked E-mail Exchange With Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Amy Pascal

LIBERAL DOUBLE STANDARD? IF THESE TWO WERE REPUBLICANS “RACIALLY INSENSITIVE” WOULD HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO “RACIST” …

Oops, Wanna get away? It would appear that the cyber-attack on Sony has left many “hacked-off” and embarrassed. Hollywood producer Scott Rudin has issued a public apology for the racially insensitive comments he made of hacked private e-mails between him and Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Amy Pascal. Just an apology, you mean the PC police and MSM did not go after their jobs?  Amy Pascal apologizes for her emails as well.

Producer Scott Rudin has issued a public apology for the racially insensitive comments that surfaced last night in an exchange of hacked private e-mails between him and Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Amy Pascal. Joking references they made to black-themed films that President Barack Obama might like were not meant for public consumption, but they are hard to defend in the harsh light of a public forum, without context. Rudin made the point in this morning’s New York Times about this hacking breach was a criminal act, when he was asked about other hacked e-mails between the producer and Pascal referencing the movie on Apple’s Steve Jobs. Here, Rudin said he simply wanted to apologize.

The hacked emails in question came before Pascal attended a breakfast in November 2013 in Hollywood with Barack Obama and other big Hollywood names hosted by DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.

“What should I ask the president at this stupid Jeffrey breakfast?” Pascal wrote.

“Would he like to finance some movies.” Rudin responded.

“I doubt it. Should I ask him if he liked DJANGO?” Pascal wrote.

Rudin replied, “12 YEARS,” before Pascal and he suggested other films created by and starring African Americans, “Or the butler. Or think like a man? [sic]”

“Ride-along. I bet he likes Kevin Hart,” Rudin wrote.

UPDATE I: Al Sharpton released a statement comparing Amy Pascal to disgraced L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Hours after Rev. Al Sharpton released a statement comparing her to disgraced L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling, Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal revealed in a Q&A interview with Deadline’s Mike Fleming, Jr. that she has spoken to Sharpton on the phone, saying, “I know I screwed up.”

Sharpton’s condemnation of Pascal came after an email exchange between the Sony exec and movie producer Scott Rudin leaked as part of the larger cyber-attack on Sony Pictures from a possibly-North Korean-connected group. In the conversation, Pascal and Rudin joked about the types of movies President Barack Obama likes, with clear racial overtones.

IRSGATE: IRS Inspector General Tells Congress They Have Found as Many as 30,000 of Lois Lerner Supposedly Irretrievable, Missing Emails

Hey Lois Lerner … YOU GOT MAIL!!!

IRS investigators have informed Congress that they have located as many as 30,000 of former IRS official Lois Lerner’s emails. The emails that were said have been permanently lost after a convenient hard drive crash of her computer. Remember when  John Koskinen, the new IRS commissioner,  testified under oath to Congress on June 20th the emails had been irretrievably lost. Hmm, I guess not so much, eh? Where were those found? The inspector general discovered the potential emails among 744 disaster recovery tapes that backup IRS systems. Just where everyone said they would be. However, why had the IRS not found her emails sooner? Judicial Watch announced earlier this month that  the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) admitted to the court that it failed to search any of the IRS standard computer systems for the “missing” emails of Lois Lerner and other IRS officials.

IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THIS SCANDAL IS NOT OVER, ESPECIALLY WITH THE GOP TAKING CONTROL OF THE SENATE NEXT YEAR.

Email_ you got mail

The IRS’s inspector general has told Congress that it may have discovered as many as 30,000 of the lost Lois G. Lerner emails, despite the IRS’s repeated insistence both in testimony to both Capitol Hill and federal courts that they were beyond recovery, congressional committees said Friday.

Investigators are now trying to figure out if they can to the data in a readable format — a process that could take weeks, according to a congressional aide.

The inspector general discovered the potential emails among 744 disaster recovery tapes that backup IRS systems, and found up to 30,000 Lerner emails from 2009 to 2011, which covers the period of emails she reported lost in a computer hard drive crash.

The revelation raised a host of questions about the IRS’s claims that the emails had been irretrievably lost — assertions the agency and its new chief, John Koskinen, had made both while testifying under oath to Congress and in court papers defending against lawsuits from several of the conservative groups who had been denied approval for nonprofit status.

The missing emails extend from 2009 to 2011, a period when Lerner headed the IRS’s exempt-organizations division.
The emails were lost when Lerner’s computer crashed, IRS officials said earlier this year.

Now what are the odds that there will be any incriminating emails delivered to Congress. Not only does the IRS need to produce Lerner’s emails, they also need to produce all of the emails of all the other individuals who Lois Lerner emailed. We all know you can delete the received and sent accounts of emails. It is the email chain that becomes the smoking gun of who the emails were sent to and forwarded to from third parties.
