US. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) Will Not Seek Reelection in 2014

Representative Michele Bauchmann announced on her web site this morning that she would not be seeking reelection in 2014 for the 6th District of Minnesota.  Bauchmann also ran for the GOP nomination for president in 2012. Bauchmann stated that just like the president who is limited to 8 years, so should she as a Congressman. Buachmann has been a staunch conservative voice in the House and it shall be missed. Personally, I am a believer that it should be mandatory that both the House and Senate should have term limits. Our Founders never intended for career politicians.

Bauchmann went on to say, “I promise you I have and I will continue to fight to protect innocent human life, traditional marriage, family values, religious liberty, and academic excellence.”

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann will not seek reelection next year. But, said the former presidential candidate, she has no plans to fade from public view.

“Looking forward, after the completion of my term, my future is full, it is limitless, and my passions for America will remain,” she announced in a video posted to her campaign website early Wednesday.

Bachmann, who served four terms representing Minnesota’s 6th District, promised that there “is no future option or opportunity” that she “won’t be giving serious consideration if it can help save and protect our great nation for future generations.”

And more from the Politico which is probably one of the liberal MSM outlets that Bauchmann was referring to regarding spinning the reason why she is leaving. Add the WAPO to the list as well.

It was clearly understood that compliance with all rules and regulations was an absolute necessity for my presidential campaign. And I have no reason to believe that that was not the case. …

Top IRS Official Lois Lerner will Invoke 5th Amendment and Not Answer House Committee Questions on IRS Scandal

Oh this will go over well with “We the People” … Let’s see Obama’s faux outrage now.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Lois Lerner, the top IRS official and head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS responsible for reviewing non-profit organizations and the department at the heart of the IRS scandal, will plead the 5th Amendment and refuse to answer House committee questions on the grounds of self incrimination. Lerner was scheduled to answer questions from the House Oversight committee this Wednesday. Her attorney, William W. Taylor III, wrote that Ms. Lerner had committed no crime or made any misrepresentations, but because the Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation, “under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course.”

So what does she have to hide? This scandal just got even more real.  The House committee was to ask Lerner to explain why she provided “false or misleading information” to the committee four times last year? Taylor, a criminal defense attorney for Learner asked that since Lerner is not going to answer questions, can she be excused from appearing, saying that would “have no purpose other than to embarrass or burden her.” WHO CARES WHAT IT DOES TO HER! With the crap that the IRS did to law-abiding Americans whose only crime was being conservative under her watch, I agree with the Jawa Report, “Boo frickin hoo, make her plead the Fifth for all to see”. Honesty, who really thinks that Holder and the DOJ is going to take this investigation seriously? About as serious as they did the New Black Panther Party and voter intimidation. Congress and Daryl Issa best make her march her happy butt into the hearing room and have all the world to see the head of the very department responsible for the IRS scandal of targeting conservative and Tea Party groups plead the 5th.

A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the 5th Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups.

Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening — or why she didn’t disclose it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor III. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.

“She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course,” said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Vista). The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times.

Lois Lerner, the IRS official who headed the tax-exempt division when the targeting of tea-party groups took place, plans to invoke her Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions before Congress on Wednesday.

But Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House oversight committee where Lerner was to appear, has issued a subpoena to Lerner anyway.

The subpoena was delivered after the committee received the letter from Lerner’s attorney, a committee aide said.

US Representative Mike Kelly was given a standing ovation Friday at the House Committee on the IRS scandal after he ripped into IRS Commissioner Steven Miller. Every American, no matter what your political belief, should watch the below video and stand up and cheer for what Kelly did. He stood up for all Americans, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, etc, as blasted the IRS commissioner and the over-reaching abuses of the IRS. It is about time some one stood up to this “Gestapo” like government organization and called them out for what they true are … government bullies who have the ability to destroy people lives. There is no greater abuse of power than what the IRS is allowed to do to “We the People” as a matter of their standard SOP.

Representative Kelly shredded the IRS for their scandalous actions of targeting Conservative groups and their over-reaching, bullying tactics. As Kelly stated, “This confirms that the IRS can do anything they want, anytime they want, to anyone they want.” Kelly basically said what every American has thought or wanted to say for years, but were too afraid of retaliation from this all-too powerful government organization. The standing ovation at the end of Kelly’s rant just shows the outrage of the American people. This is what tyranny looks like, and its hardly soft tyranny. Kelly would also say, “And I don’t believe the White House just found out about this in a news report. Where you’re sitting you should be outraged but you’re not.” I think it is rather unbelievable that President Barack Obama also did not learn of this when the American people did. Obama dodged the question when asked. That is either a lie or this president is not most clueless, unengaged president ever.

Our Founding Fathers never envisioned such and entity would ever be given so much power which shredded the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. This is what America fought to get away from. How in the hell  has it come to this? Government has gotten far too big, out of control and without fear of “We the People”. What happened to a government of, by and for the People?

There’s a heck of a lot more that has to come out in this. You know, you can put anybody out of business that you want. Any time you want. I gotta tell you. You could talk about how you’re a horribly run organization, if you’re on the other side of the fence, you’re not giving that excuse. And the IRS comes in, you’re not allowed to be shoddy, you’re not allowed to be run horribly, you’re not allowed to make mistakes, you’re not allowed to do one damn thing that doesn’t come in compliance, and if you do, you’re held responsible right then. I just think the American people have seen what’s going on right now in their government. This is absolutely an overreach and this is an outrage for all Americans.

During todays  House Ways and Means Committee on the IRS scandals, Texas Republican congressman Kevin Brady asked out-going IRS commissioner, ” Is this still America”?  He then went on to ask, “Is this government so drunk on power that it would turn its full force, its full might to harass, intimidate, and threaten an average American  who only wants her voice and their voices heard”?

What is most amazing is that Commissioner Miller of the IRS actually said, “I do not believe targeting again is wrong”. WOW, simply wow. This is the same organization that is to police Obamacare and they think  its ok to target Americans. The Obama administrator does not believe in targeting Muslims for terrorism, but his IRS official believes it is perfectly OK to target Conservatives. UNREAL. This comment alone makes me believe 100% that the IRS need to be completely defunded and abolished. This vindictive organization that operates above the law needs to be ended once and for all. It’s time to implement a flat tax and do away with the IRS so these type of Unconstitutional acts never, ever happen again to anyone, no matter what their party affiliation or political opinions are.

The IRS under the Obama administration painted targets on the backs of conservatives beginning in 2010, and ousted acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller apologized to the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday. But members on both sides of the aisle were furious, and castigated him for the mismanagement and political gamesmanship the IRS engaged in on his watch.

Texas Republican congressman Kevin Brady had the harshest criticism for Miller.

‘Is this still America?’ he asked him.

‘Is this government so drunk on power that it would turn its full force, its full might, to harass, and intimidate, and threaten an average American who only wants her voice, their voices heard?’

‘The American public deserves better,’ Miller agreed. But both he and J. Russell George, the Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration, insisted that no IRS employees engaged in political witch-hunting.

US  Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-R) comments on the IRS targeting scandal where the Internal Revenue Service admitted to targeting Conservative and religious groups who opposed the Obama administration, while at the same time fast-tracked those non-profit organizations looking for tax exempt status who agreed with the Administration. Bauchmann makes and important point as the MSM has really only focused on one part of the story. Not only did the IRS prevent, stall and make Conservative organizations lives miserable to get tax exempt status in the run up to the 2012 political election, they also, and just as important, favored liberal and progressive organizations to get theirs in s timely manner.

Bachmann then when on to emphasize the fact that it will now be the IRS that enforces and polices Obamacare. Michele Bauchmann stated, ”It is important and reasonable to ask, could there potentially be political implications regarding healthcare, access to healthcare, denial of healthcare. Will that happen based upon a person’s political beliefs or their religiously held beliefs. These question would have been considered out of bounds a week ago. Today these questions are considered more than reasonable. And more than fair for the American people.”

Of course this was before that we found out that the woman who was in charge of the very department that was responsible for targeting Conservative and religious groups that the very IRS scandal is predicated upon is now the head of the IRS agency for Obamacare. Speaker of the House John Boehner stated that he was not interest in who resigns, “my question is about who’s going to jail over this scandal.” However, it appears in the Obama administration that being a good little soldier and effectively attacking Conservative and the Tea Party gets you a career advancement to the IRS division of Obamacare. Barack Obama said he would hold everyone accountable, Sarah Hall Ingram now heads the Obamacare implementation office. UNREAL. There is no way the internally this woman was not advanced because of the job she did in targeting a segment of the population who opposed President Barack Obama. How is this women still employed, if we are to take Obama at his word that those responsible would be held accountable and better yet, how is she not in jail?
