Dennis Hastert Allegedly Paid Hush Money to Conceal Past Sexual Misconduct Dating Back More Than 30 Years Ago
DRIP, DRIP, DRIP … HEAD-SHAKINGLY SAD AND SICK.
It is being reported by CBS News that the former Republican U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert allegedly agreed to pay millions of dollars in “hush money” to conceal accusations of sexual misconduct in his past. Most crimes are like an iceberg, what we see initially is only a small fraction of the actual crime. This appears to be the case as well with the accusations against former Speaker Dennis Hastert. Although Hastert is not being indicted for the alleged sexual misconduct, the misconduct mentioned in court documents refers to sexual misconduct dating back more than 30 years. Hastert was a teacher and wrestling coach in Yorkville, Illinois from 1965 to 1981. The federal indictment is for tax evasion and lying to the IRS. Put 1 and 1 together and we get Dennis Hastert was paying a former student from Yorkville, IL to conceal his alleged sexual abuse of the youth that took place while Hastert was a teacher and wrestling coach at a high school.
Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert allegedly agreed to pay millions of dollars in “hush money” to conceal accusations of sexual misconduct in his past, two law enforcement officials told CBS News.
Law enforcement sources say the misconduct mentioned in court documents refers to sexual misconduct dating back more than 30 years. From 1965-1981, Hastert was a popular teacher and wrestling coach in Yorkville, Illinois.
Hastert was indicted and charged Thursday with violating federal banking laws and lying to FBI investigators. According to the indictment, Hastert agreed to pay $3.5 million in 2010 to a person identified only as “Individual A,” in an effort to “compensate and conceal” Hastert’s “prior misconduct.”
The indictment did not reveal details of the misconduct, but it did note that Hastert and Individual A have known each other for “most of Individual A’s life” and that the individual is from the same Illinois town where Hastert was a teacher and coach.
Hastert’s former employer, the Yorkville School District, said in a statement Friday that it was “first made aware of any concerns regarding Mr. Hastert when the federal indictment was released on May 28, 2015.”
A second person accused Hastert of sexual abuse, official says.
“It goes back a long way, back to then,” the official said. “It has nothing to do with public corruption or a corruption scandal. Or to his time in office.” Thursday’s indictment described the misconduct “against Individual A” as having “occurred years earlier,” noting that Hastert had known the person “most of Individual A’s life.”
When asked about the nature of Hastert’s alleged misconduct, the law enforcement official said, “It was sex.’’
Hastert has not responded to requests for comment. A representative of the lobbying firm where he had worked, Dickstein Shapiro, declined to comment.
If all this is true, it is truly despicable. The crimes for which the former GOP speaker was indicted for would pale in comparison for the ones that he was trying to keep quiet. But most likely the statue of limitations ran out on those years ago. However, I will ask the following question, isn’t it telling that you don’t see the liberal MSM trying to investigate the Clinton Foundation Scandals and the role that Hillary Clinton took part in it? The media only circles like blood thirty sharks when it is a Republican that has done wrong.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert Indicted On Federal Charges of Tax Evasion & Lying to the FBI
Former GOP Speaker of the House indicted …
Former Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) was indicted on federal charges of tax evasion and lying to the FBI. As reported at the WAPO, in 2010, Hastert agreed to give an unnamed person $3.5 million “to compensate for and conceal his prior misconduct against Individual A.” The “prior misconduct” occurred before Hastert entered politics in 1981 as he was elected to the Illinois state House in the election of 1980. It would appear that Hastert was paying $3.5 million in hush money to an individual and got busted.
Read the Indictment HERE.
The Justice Department has indicted former House Speaker Dennis Hastert on reporting evasion charges and lying to the FBI as part of an effort to conceal paying off the victim of “prior bad acts.
In an indictment handed down in the District Court of Northern Illinois, the Department of Justice and IRS charged Hastert, 73, with illegally transferring funds in an effort to avoid detection by the IRS, a scheme known as “structuring.”
In the indictment, Hastert is accused of agreeing to pay one individual $3.5 million.
Although the indictment does not specify the “bad acts,” sources said they could be from before Hastert, who is now a lobbyist in Washington, entered politics in 1980. The indictment does, however, claim that Hastert agreed to make the payments “[d]uring … 2010 meetings and subsequent discussions.” In at least one of those meetings, according to the indictment, Hastert and the individual “discussed past misconduct by [Hastert against the individual] that had occurred years earlier.”
UPDATE I: A federal magistrate set preliminary bail at $4,500 for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
The bail amount, included in court documents made public Friday, will allow Mr. Hastert to stay out of custody until he is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment. An arraignment hasn’t yet been scheduled, but will probably take place in the coming days.
Mr. Hastert hasn’t appeared in public or commented on the charges. The case was assigned to U.S. Judge Thomas Durkin.
UPDATE II: So what is the law that Denis Hastert broke?
* The law Hastert allegedly broke dictates that any cash withdrawal over $10,000 be accompanied by a Currency Transaction Report filed by the bank to the federal government. “The federal law requiring these reports was passed to safeguard the financial industry from threats posed by money laundering and other financial crime,” according to the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FINCEN). “To comply with this law, financial institutions must obtain personal identification information about the individual conducting the transaction such as a Social Security number as well as a driver’s license or other government issued document. This requirement applies whether the individual conducting the transaction has an account relationship with the institution or not.” These regulations grew out of the Bank Secrecy Act of 1970, which is formally known as the “Currency and Foreign Transactions Reporting Act of 1970.”
* The federal investigation into Hastert’s withdrawal practice began in 2013 due to concerns that Hastert was “structuring” withdrawals to avoid the reporting requirements. Structuring, which is also called “smurfing,” is a purposeful attempt to break up large cash withdrawals to keep them from drawing scrutiny. It’s a common practice in money laundering and gambling. Between June 2010 and April 2012, Hastert took $50,000 out of his bank accounts on 15 different occasions. When questioned about those practices by bank officials, Hastert began taking out less than $10,000 at a time to avoid detection, a classic case of structuring or smurfing, if true.
* When confronted about his withdrawals by federal officials in late 2014, Hastert allegedly lied — insisting that he was keeping the cash for himself. Hastert said that he “did not feel safe with the banking system,” adding: “Yeah … I kept the cash. That’s what I’m doing.” Lying to federal officials is, obviously, a crime.
UPDATE III: Hastert resigns lobbying position after indictment.
Former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) has resigned from his position as a lobbyist at law and lobby firm Dickstein Shapiro following a federal indictment released Thursday, according to a firm spokesman.
“Dennis Hastert has resigned from the firm. Scott Thomas will continue to lead the Public Policy & Political Law Practice,” a firm spokesman said in an email to The Hill.
UPDATE IV: Hastert also resigned from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange board.
Hastert’s biography was removed from the firm’s website Thursday. In a statement issued late Thursday, a Dickstein Shapiro spokesman said only that “Dennis Hastert has resigned from the firm.” Hastert also resigned Thursday from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange board, according to reports.

US Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) Wants a Pay Raise and a Congressional Living Wage …
US Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) wants a Congressional living wage …
You wonder why Congress has a 15% approval rating? Not only does Congress not do anything, only seem interested in maintaining their own power and when you count up the days work only about 1/2 a year … now US Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) wants a pay raise. Watch the VIDEO below of Hasting whining about his pay and saying that he thinks that Congress deserves a raise. Really? Congress makes $174,000 a year for working far less days than your average American. He thinks that this is not being paid properly. These people have helped destroy this country and now they want to be rewarded? This previously disgraced and impeached judge should be tossed out of office and make to work in the private sector, one he helped ruin. CONGRESS DOES NOT DESERVE A RAISE, THEY DESERVE TO BE THROWN OUT OF OFFICE.
Rep. Alcee L. Hastings made the politically tone-deaf case for raising salaries for members of Congress Monday, pointing to the high cost of living in the District of Columbia.
“Members deserve to be paid, staff deserves to be paid and the cost of living here is causing serious problems for people who are not wealthy to serve in this institution,” the Florida Democrat said at a Rules Committee meeting, referring to the average member’s $174,000 annual salary. “We aren’t being paid properly,” he later added.
The committee was considering the fiscal 2016 Legislative Branch appropriations bill, which sets the spending levels for Congress and legislative branch agencies. The bill includes a freeze on member pay, continuing one that has been in place since 2010 — and last year drew the ire of then-Rep. James P. Moran.
Pay raise? You know these people are getting monies that are not apart of their actual salary. They can write books, do speeches, etc. Sorry Alcee, HOW ABOUT YOU GET A REAL JOB IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR!!! PAY RAISE MY BUTT!!!
Maybe Hastings should go back to taking bribes?

Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Says, Even Memebers of Congress Live Paycheck to Paycheck … WHAT!!!
COULD ANYONE BE MORE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAN NANCY PELOSI, OTHER THAN BARACK OBAMA?
The delusional Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the following at a Capitol Hill press conference on Thursday in the run up to impending battle and vote on Capitol Hill over Department of Homeland Security funding, “I don’t know about you, but I think almost everybody I know cannot live without having our paycheck on time — members of Congress, even.” WHAT!!! Some one better call Pelosi a WAHmbulance.
SanFran Nan said, “but I think almost everybody I know cannot live without having our paycheck on time”. Who is she kidding, who is the “EVERYBODY” that Pelosi knows who goes paycheck to paycheck? Pelosi would not be caught dead hanging around the common folk who live paycheck to paycheck. Pelosi, or her ilk would not know in the slightest what it means to struggle. Oh, is she having to do without an extra Botox treatment these days? Pelosi ranks at number 14 in CQ/Roll Call’s list of wealthiest members of Congress, with a net worth of around $29 million. I am so sure she hangs around the common folk who live paycheck to paycheck. Of course Pelosi gets more because she has a ranking position in the House.
Pelosi’s minimum net worth in 2013 was slightly more than $29 million, a few million more than what she reported in 2012.
The boost in the House minority leader’s personal finances is, in part, attributable to stock investments associated with her husband that grew significantly over the course of a year. Paul Pelosi’s investment in Comcast, for instance, doubled between 2012 and 2013, from at least $250,000 to at least $500,000. Meanwhile, his stake in a real estate development project in Sacramento, Calif., skyrocketed from at least $1 million to at least $5 million.
Lawmakers are strapped for cash like ordinary “We the People” American folks? Get bent Nancy. Pelosi needs to retire. This might be one of the most embarrassing comments she has ever made, and trust me, she has made many. Let us never forget the infamous, “we must pass the bill in order to find out what s in it.”
A member of Congress makes $174,000, meanwhile an average American makes $55,424 and many others who live paycheck to paycheck make much less than the average. As Melissa Francis from the Fox Business Network said on this morning’s Bulls& Bears, “they have no idea what it is like to live in an average household and trying to compare themselves is disingenuous, pathetic and disgusting.” BINGO!!!
Another one of the Bulls & Bears nailed it … “Congress should be responsible when dealing with the affairs of whether it is DHS or whether its shutting down the government, everybody expects a paycheck.” Then comes the money quote … “The problem is that Congress is so out of touch, so out of touch with everyday Americans, they don’t even know how to speak to everyday Americans on behalf of everyday Americans. When you are running for Congress the average campaign is 2 million, 1.5 million. Who’s is going to be able to raise that kind of money, rich people. That is why we have a bunch of rich Congressman.”
Check out how the median income for families in the United States has gone backwards as adjusted for inflation.
How sad and pathetic is this that we have an elite class of rich people in charge? Guess what, America you are to blame. This is hardly what our Founding Fathers ever envisioned. You have elected and continue to reelect US Representatives and Senators that are so out of touch and do not represent you in any shape, matter or form. My personal believe is that Congresses pay should be tied to the average pay scale for Americans and then raised 10% or 20%, not the over 300% it currently is. This way there will be no incentive for “forever” politicians and it will not be a lifetime job. Also, their pension needs to be nixed completely.

Speaker John Boehner Invites Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu to Address Joint Session of Congress Regarding Iran
Let’s give Speaker John Boehner credit, where credit is due … Good for you Boehner, Feels good to do the right thing for America, doesn’t it?
Speaker of the House, John Boehner (R-OH), invites Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before a joint session of Congress next month on February 11 to discussing Iran, further sanctions against them and the threat that a nuclear Iran poses to the world. Boehner said in a private meeting of GOP lawmakers that Congress would proceed on further penalties against Iran despite Obama’s warning, “[Obama] expects us to stand idly by and do nothing while he cuts a bad deal with Iran. Two words: ‘Hell no!’ We’re going to do no such thing.” It is about time the GOP has stood up to this imperial president. This is why the voters have put in place a Republican House and Senate, to block the far left and dangerous policies and agenda of Barack Obama. This all has to do with Obama threats and threats of a veto if the Congress passes further sanctions against Iran. However, there is wide bi-partisan support in favor of sanctions as Democrats are on board with protected America against Iran.
What is the Obama’s White House issue … a breech of protocol and poking Obama in the eye. Breach of protocol. are you serious? Wasn’t this the same White House that solicited British Prime Minister David Cameron to call US politicians on this very same topic of sanctions against Iran? Isn’t it amazing that Obama and his lackeys are more interested in protocol and Obama’s feelings than US national and world security.
Boehner Invites Netanyahu to Address Congress
“The Congress can make its decision on its own” — but he also insisted, “I don’t believe I’m poking anyone in the eye.”
“There is a serious threat that exists in the world, and the president last night kind of papered over it,” Boehner said.
“And the fact is is that there needs to be a more serious conversation in America about how serious the threat is from radical Islamic jihadists and the threat posed by Iran.”
Speaker of the House – John Boehner:
“Prime Minister Netanyahu is a great friend of our country, and this invitation carries with it our unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of his people,” Boehner said. “In this time of challenge, I am asking the Prime Minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life. Americans and Israelis have always stood together in shared cause and common ideals, and now we must rise to the moment again.”
White House spokesman Josh Earnest responded to the news with the following. Ha, the Obama WH is worried about protocol, maybe they should concern themselves more with the US Constitution.
“The typical protocol would suggest that the leader of a country would contact the leader of another country when he’s traveling there,” said White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest. “That certainly is how President Obama’s trips are planned when he travels overseas. This particular event seems to be a departure from that protocol.”
Earnest said the White House was made aware of the invitation before Boehner’s office released a letter dated Jan. 21 inviting Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress on Feb. 11.
