Jane Fonda … Hanoi Jane, You’ve Come a Long Way Baby … From Vietnam to Iraq … Still Aiding the Enemy
Hanoi Jane is back to her old tricks … aiding and comforting the enemy.
With Jane Fonda, its a different time but the same message. Please do not tell us that you support the troops, but not the war. That is an old and tired talking point. Not much has changed for Jane Fonda since Vietnam.
How dare they! I served in the central highlands of Vietnam. We were defending a bunker while North Vietnamese and Viet Cong rockets, mortars and sappers were lighting up our firebase. As daylight arrived, the enemy disappeared and we were able to take care of our dead and wounded. That’s when I noticed a newspaper in our bunker with a photo of a smiling Fonda as she straddled an anti-aircraft gun in North Vietnam, a gun that had been used to shoot down our planes. She was doing more to harm our troops than the rockets and mortars that had been raining down on us. She was aiding and abetting the enemy!
Take a good look what it means to side with the enemy. What has changed? What is Jane Fonda’s end goal, the same events that occurred when the US pulled out of Vietnam? We all remember “The Killing Fields”.
At a recent anti-war rally in Washington, DC Jane Fonda stated the following, “I haven’t spoken at an antiwar rally in 34 years,” she said. But, “Silence is no longer an option.” Trust me Jane … silence is an option … shut up.
A round of applause for the members of The Free Republic who state exactly what Hanoi Jane stands for and represents.
Before the march, Fonda spoke briefly to a few hundred people at the Navy Memorial. The event was sponsored by Code Pink, an antiwar group started by women. On the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue, three dozen protesters organized by the conservative Web site Free Republic held up signs calling protesters traitors and terrorist sympathizers.
“Jaaaaannnneeeee Fonda has blood on her hands!” chanted one man with a megaphone. (Washington Post)

Turner Broadcasting Agrees to Pay $2M for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Bomb Scare
The Turner Broadcasting System and Interference Inc have agreed to pay $2M for the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” ad fiasco that paralyzed Boston, MA last week as a suspected bomb threat.
The settlement of course erases any legal action, civil or criminal claims, against the companies or individuals that would potentially be sued. Prosecutors were also in discussions with the attorneys of Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens, who hung the signs, to resolve the charges before a trial.
As part of the settlement, $1 million will be used to reimburse the agencies and $1 million will be used to fund homeland security and other programs. Turner Broadcasting, a division of Time Warner Inc., and Interference Inc. also will issue a public statement accepting full responsibility and apologizing for the incident.
“Last week’s events caused a major disruption in the greater Boston area on many levels — crippling public transportation, causing serious traffic problems, negatively affecting local businesses and perhaps most significantly, costing Boston and surrounding communities thousands of dollars,” Coakley said.
Turner Broadcasting released a statement taking responsibility and apologizing to Bostonians for the hardships caused by their “unconventional marketing tactic“
“We understand now that in today’s post-Sept. 11 environment, it was reasonable and appropriate for citizens and law enforcement officials to take any perceived threat posed by our light boards very seriously and to respond as they did.”
You Have Got to be Kidding … Hoax Devices part of Turner Broadcasting Cartoon Network Ad Campaign (Updates)
The nine devices that shut down Boston, MA this morning and after noon turn out to be nothing more than an ad campaign by The Cartoon Network. WTF. What were these mental migits thinking? Please tell me heads will roll, people fired and Turner Broadcasting will be sent the bill for all the police manpower that was wasted today.
“It’s a hoax — and it’s not funny,” Gov. Deval Patrick said. All of the devices are magnetic lights which resemble a character on the show “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”, on Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network.
What kind of irresponsible fools do they have working at Turner Broadcasting? They put packages near subways, Interstates and bridges in a post 9–11 World. The City of Boston should be sending Turner Broadcasting a bill of fare.
BOSTON (AP) — Nine blinking electronic devices planted at bridges and other spots in Boston threw a scare into the city Wednesday in what turned out to be a marketing campaign for a late-night cable cartoon. At least one of the devices depicts a character giving the finger.
(Drudge, At least one of the devices depicts a character giving the finger.)
Statement from Turner Broadcasting:
“The “packages” in question are magnetic lights that pose no danger. They are part of an outdoor marketing campaign in 10 cities in support of Adult Swim’s animated television show Aqua Teen Hunger Force. They have been in place for two to three weeks in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Austin, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Parent company Turner Broadcasting is in contact with local and federal enforcement on the exact locations of the billboards. We regret that they mistakenly thought to pose any danger.”
You fools!!! In a city in which airplanes flew from on 9–11, you would do such a stupid stunt. You wasted countless police, bomb and security officials time. “Mistakenly thought to pose any danger”? What planet do you people live on? Where have you been since September 11, 2001? Well you got the publicity you wanted as ever cable network was discussing your publicity stunt. Now its time you should pay for all the wasted security time.
UPDATE I: Arrest Made After ‘Suspicious Packages’ Paralyzed Boston as Part of Cartoon Network Marketing Campaign
Boston police said Wednesday night that one person had been arrested, and authorities scheduled a news conference later in the evening to provide details. (Fox News)
UPDATE II: Peter Berdovsky, 27, was arrested on one felony charge of placing a hoax device
Peter Berdovsky, 27, of Arlington, was arrested on one felony charge of placing a hoax device and one charge of disorderly conduct, state Attorney General Martha Coakley said later Wednesday. He had been hired to place the devices, she said.
Authorities are investigating whether Turner and any other companies should be criminally charged, Coakley said. It wasn’t immediately clear Wednesday who might have hired Berdovsky.
“We’re not going to let this go without looking at the further roots of how this happened to cause the panic in this city,” Coakley said at a news conference.
Berdovsky was arrested at 8:15 p.m. at his lawyer’s office, Coakley said. His lawyer’s name wasn’t available, and phone number believed to be Berdovsky’s did not accept messages.
Berdovsky planted many of the devices, Coakley said, although he is charged in connection with just one. He is to be arraigned Thursday in state court. (Yahoo News)
UPDATE III: If restitution is good enough for The Runaway Bride, Jennifer Wilbanks, its good enough for Turner Broadcasting.
The Runaway Bide was forced to pay $2500.00 in restitution to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department for wasting their time and man power to search for her in what turned out to be a hoax. The security scare, ad campaign hoax is estimated to cost Boston $500K. What’s the difference? The restitution bill can be sent directly to Turner Broadcasting.
The law under which Berdovsky was charged allows the state to pursue restitution. Mayor Thomas Menino said estimated the security scare may have cost the city more than $500,000.
At least 14 of the devices were found, and at least 24 more are still around the city, officials said. (Yahoo News)
UPDATE IV: Two men face charges after Boston security scare
Its nice that you are going after the two people that actually placed the devices. Now its time to go after the corporate suits who planned and okayed this debacle. There is no way in a post 9–11 world in the year 2007 that any thinking person would not comprehend the detrimental implications of such actions. If these marketing types are that ignorant to the present day facts, maybe they should not be employed.
BOSTON (Reuters) – Authorities plan to charge two men on Thursday after an elaborate publicity stunt — planting blinking devices that were mistaken for bombs — caused Boston’s biggest security scare since the September 11 attacks.
Sean Stevens, 28, and Peter Berdovsky, 27, were to appear in state court in Charlestown. They will face charges of placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct, according to state Attorney General Martha Coakley.
Turner Broadcasting, a unit of Time Warner Inc., late Wednesday said it was responsible for the devices, which had been installed in 10 major U.S. cities. The devices were intended to promote the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” cartoon show.

Nine suspects have been arrested in a foiled terror plot in an “alleged Iraq-style kidnapping and beheading plot in the UK.” More on this report and updates from The Jawa Report.

Having Radiation Treatments? Be Ready To Explain So When Going Through Security Check Points
If you are planning on travelling or going into a high security location, such as the Superbowl, and having any sort of radiation treatment, be ready to explain yourself to the security people. Since 9/11 the tools that security companies are using have improved significantly. They now pick up the trace radioactive particles used in medical proceedures for up to 30 days.
With the rising use of radioisotopes in medicine and the growing use of radiation detectors in a security-conscious nation, patients are triggering alarms in places where they may not even realize they’re being scanned, doctors and security officials say.
Nearly 60,000 people a day in the United States undergo treatment or tests that leave tiny amounts of radioactive material in their bodies, according to the Society of Nuclear Medicine. It is not enough to hurt them or anyone else, but it is enough to trigger radiation alarms for up to three months. via Yahoo! News.
My recommendation, if you are having any sort of radioactive treatment done and planning on traveling, have the doctor give you a letter explaining the proceedure and what radioactive material is being used. This may make your trip through security go much smoother.
