Watergate’s Carl Bernstein Says FBI Would Not Reopen Case Unless New Evidence Was “A Real Bombshell”

Carl Bernstein of ‘Watergate’ fame says the Director of the FBI, Comey would not reopen the Hillary Clinton private email server case unless the new evidence was “a real bombshell.”

CARL BERNSTEIN: Well, there’s no question that the e-mails have always been the greatest threat to her candidacy for president, that her conduct in regard to the e-mails is really indefensible and if there was going to be more information that came out, it was the one thing, as I said on the air last night, actually that could really perhaps affect this election.

We don’t know what this means yet except that it’s a real bombshell. And it is unthinkable that the Director of the FBI would take this action lightly, that he would put this letter forth to the Congress of the United States saying there is more information out there about classified e-mails and call it to the attention of congress unless it was something requiring serious investigation. So that’s where we are…

Is it a certainty that we won’t learn before the election? I’m not sure it’s a certainty we won’t learn before the election.

One thing is, it’s possible that Hillary Clinton might want to on her own initiative talk to the FBI and find out what she can, and if she chooses to let the American people know what she thinks or knows is going on. People need to hear from her…

I think if she has information available to her from the FBI or any other source as to her knowledge of what these e-mails might be, hopefully she will let us know what they are and what is under discussion here.

Right now we’re all talking in a vacuum but I want to add here that in the last, oh, 36, 48 hours, there has been an undercurrent of kind of speculative discussion among some national security people that something might surface in the next few days about e-mails, and I think the expectation in this chatter — and I took it as just chatter but informed chatter, to some extent — was that it would relate to another round of WikiLeaks e-mails, which our Justice Department people seem to be saying is not the case, but there has been some noise in the national security community the last day or two of this kind of possibility of some kind of revelation.

But this is her achilles heel and we have to remember that it also comes on the — back to the word heel — of the revelations about the Clinton Foundation. So the confluence of all of this is bad for her as it stands now but with some knowledge she might be able to stop, turn things around, and give us some idea of what’s going on in a way we might not otherwise know, and also it’s very possible that some members of congress very quickly are going to get an idea of what these e-mails are, and what this is all about, and for whatever purpose put some information out there.

It wasn’t too long ago that FBI James Comey was the darling of the LEFT when defied logic and pretty much all procedures how and FBI  investigation was done when he ignored all of the the evidence against Hillary Clinton and stated that he would not ask for prosecution against her. That was then and this is now, today Comey reopened the private email server case and the LEFT is now calling for his resignation. Priceless. Team Clinton is calling on the FBI to release what they have. Sorry Hillary, it does not work that way.

Donald Trump’s oft-repeated claim that the FBI’s investigation of “Crooked Hillary” and the presidential election itself were and are “rigged,” seems to have thrown FBI Director James Comey into a state of panic. In foolishly making a public announcement that the bureau is reviewing newly discovered emails related to Hillary Clinton’s personal server, he has inserted himself yet again into the presidential campaign.
The FBI virtually never announces the commencement or termination of ongoing criminal investigations. Such inquiries are often conducted in relative secrecy, enabling a more efficient investigation.

It is not unusual for investigations in so-called “white collar” cases to go on for years, luring the target into an unfounded belief that he or she is in the clear. Then the hammer falls. A grand jury indictment is announced by the Department of Justice and the handcuffs are swiftly employed.

The old, sensible FBI rule book apparently has been thrown on the trash heap this year. While undoubtedly attempting to be open and “transparent,” to protect the reputation of the FBI, the FBI director has tossed a Molotov cocktail into the presidential race.

Voters must now be subjected to endless speculation in the press and explicit accusations from the Trump campaign and other Republicans candidates that Hillary is a “criminal” aided and abetted by a rigged FBI and Justice Department. Comey’s “openness and transparency” will blow up in his face and further tarnish the FBI’s reputation. He has reinserted the bureau into the political process.
The director probably feared that leaks would lead to speculation that a renewed Hillary investigation was underway. In trying to get ahead of criticism of the FBI for jumping to a conclusion too quickly and closing the original Hillary investigation, he has only made matters worse and inserted a huge new issue into the presidential campaign, 11 days before the election.

In truth, investigations open and close routinely secretly when new evidence comes to light. Each new scrap in a pile of useful or useless evidence is not announced in real time, like a scandal in a scripted reality TV Show. Perhaps it’s time for the embattled FBI director who seems to have forgotten how to conduct a proper investigation to resign.

Comey’s public announcement in July that the FBI had concluded its investigation regarding Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server in the conduct of official State Department business and would not recommend the lodging of criminal charges was historically unprecedented in a high-profile political case.

ABC News and all news services are reporting that the FBI is reopening the Hillary Clinton email investigation!!! It does not look like its over for Hillary and her emails, not just yet. Less than two weeks before election day and we are hit with this bombshell from the FBI.

FBI Director James Comey released a statement today saying that the FBI is going to continue the previously closed investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails from her time as secretary of state.

“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation,” Comey wrote in a letter released today.

Comey wrote in the letter that after being briefed on the unrelated case, he agreed, “the FBI should take appropriated investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.”

“Although the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work, I believe it is important to update your Committees about our efforts in light of my previous testimony,” reads the letter to the leaders of various congressional committees.

File this one under, don’t ask for things, they might just come true. Hmm, does Team Hillary really want to see what the FBI has? Really? I guess its pick your poison, the cloud of suspicion or the storm of the truth. One thing is for certain as Town Hall opines, Libs are losing their minds and the the FBI director that they once touted as honorable and wise is now something much different.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta on Friday called on FBI Director James Comey to immediately release more details about the new evidence it is reviewing as part of its probe into Clinton’s use of a private email server at the State Department.

He also pushed back against the idea that the FBI is re-opening its investigation, which concluded in July. Comey recommended that the Justice Department not bring charges against Clinton for allegedly mishandling classified information.

Emails released by WikiLeaks last week also suggested Obama was complicit in Clinton’s illegal email practices. “Talk to Josh [Earnest] or Eric [Schultz]. They know POTUS and HRC emailed,” Palmieri told Philippe Reines after he expressed concern over Obama’s claim.

A March 2015 email chain released by WikiLeaks Tuesday is further proof that President Obama lied to the American people when he said he found out about Hillary Clinton’s private email server from news reports.

“Jen you probably have more on this but it looks like POTUS just said he found out HRC was using her personal email when he saw it in the news,” Clinton spokesman Josh Schwerin wrote to Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri, press secretary Nick Merrill, and others.

Merrill then forwarded Schwerin’s email to longtime Clinton confidante and attorney Cheryl Mills, who sent it to campaign Chairman John Podesta. “We need to clean this up,” she wrote to Podesta. “He has emails from her — they do not say state.gov.”

Obama clearly lied when he told CBS’ Bill Plante that he learned about Clinton’s use of a private email account and server “the same time everybody else learned it through news reports.”

Sorry Liberal Media, a Polarizing and Corrupt Hillary Clinton Could Never Heal a Divided Nation

The Hill writes … Could a President Clinton heal a divided nation?

The answer, NO!!!! Note to Te Hill, what makes you think she wants to? One does not get to be one of the most polarizing figures, coupled with being a compulsive liar and corrupt individual that sooner belongs in jail than running for president and think that they could ever heal a divided nation. The idea that Hillary could heal anything is a joke. Establishment Republicans and RINO’s may go along with her, but they are just as much of the problem as Hillary is. If Hillary Clinton wins in 2016, look for a further divided United States as she pushes for more liberal policies and attacks the 2nd Amendment. It is getting to critical mass in the US and a split would not be out of the question.

What Difference does It Make that I further divide America?

If she wins the White House, Hillary Clinton will face the daunting task of healing the national divisions exposed by a vicious campaign season.

Whether Clinton could knit the nation back together is an open question. Her supporters say she will do what she can, but that the GOP will have to play its part. Opponents argue that she is uniquely ill equipped for the task.

The Democratic nominee and former secretary of State has been a polarizing figure for decades. She is the most unpopular nominee of modern times, with the sole exception of her Republican counterpart, Donald Trump. To many conservatives, she represents everything that is wrong with liberal politics.

Yet Clinton has sought to make overt appeals to Republican voters. Invited to deliver a closing statement at the third and final presidential debate of 2016 last week, she said that she was “reaching out to all Americans — Democrats, Republicans and independents — because we need everybody to help make our country what it should be.”

If Clinton wins, said former Republican Sen. Judd Gregg (N.H.), “For the first time in our history, we will have a president who more than half the people don’t trust and don’t like. That means that, rather than having the historic honeymoon period — being given the benefit of the doubt for a time — she won’t have that, unless she creates it.”
