Ohio State University Study Shows Prolonged Exposure to Violent Video Games Increases Aggression … Newtown, CT Adam Lanza was a Gamer

Before everyone is so quick to blame only guns for the tragic events in Newtown, CT, parents might want to look at the below study and violent video games.

So you think it is all about the guns when it comes to violence. WRONG! Since the heartbreaking murders of 20 innocent children and 6 school staffers hit the news last Friday, many have been grappling with the question of how this could happen? What could have gone so wrong? How could 20 year old Adam Lanza shoot his mother and then go on a murdering spree at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Many Democrat tragedy opportunists have blamed in all on guns. Sorry, but if we want to be honest about all of this and want to protect our children not only from future Adam Lanza’s, but from themselves, then we have to look at many other factors and issues in this case and many other recent mass murders.

Call of Duty

It is important to take a look at the following study from Ohio State on violent video games and human, or I should inhuman behavior. The study determined that More Playing Time Violent Video Games Equals More Aggression. Makes sense now doesn’t it. The study basically compares continued violent video game use to the use of cigarettes. The longer and prolonged Gaming and exposed to violent games, the greater the damage.

On each of the three test days, the study saw 70 undergraduate participants exposed to either violent games – including Call of Duty 4 (VIDEO trailer) and Condemned 2 (VIDEO trailer) – or passive titles – including DiRT 2 and Pure – for 20 minutes at a time.

After playing, participants were asked to then read the start of a story, and then at the end come up with 20 possible follow-on actions the protagonist could take, with the players of violent games opting for more aggressive solutions when compared to the passive players.

Then, participants were told that there was another participant in another room, and that they had to compete with them by playing a 25-trial videogame, with the aim of being the first person to respond to visual cues on screen.

The winner would then have the power of sending the other person a ‘noise blast’ through their headphones – such as the sound of nails down a chalkboard or a dentist drill. Players of violent games leaned towards sending their opponent a louder, more prolonged sound, while passive players were kinder to their fellow participant.

It should be noted however that there actually was no other participant, just in case someone got their ear drums blown out.

By the end of the study the research found, “people who played a violent video game for three consecutive days showed increases in aggressive behaviour and hostile expectations each day they played. Meanwhile, those who played non-violent games showed no meaningful changes in aggression or hostile expectations over that period.

Imagine what happens when an already disturbed individual with mental illness who has bonding issues is exposed to such violent videos over a prolonged period of time? Ever wonder how some one could become so desensitized that they would have no empathy in killing 6 and 7 year old children? These games reward you for for shooting your victims multiple times and multiple head shots folks. Hmm, sound familiar?  What every happened to the video games Donkey Kong, Dig-Dug, Breakout and Space Invaders? What the hell happened to our country and culture that such violence like what exists in actual war is now the norm?

Shameful: International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge Refuses to Allow 1 Minute of Silence for Israeli Victims of the 1972 Munich Terrorist Massacre at Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics; However, NBC’s Bob Costas Will

SHAMEFUL, DISRESPECTFUL AND GUTLESS  ACT BY THE IOC …

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge reiterates that he refuses to allow a one minute moment of silence during the Opening Ceremonies of the London Summer Olympics for the Israeli victims who were killed by terrorists during the 1972 Olympics Munich massacre. Simply SHAMEFUL. On the 40th anniversary of the tragedy that saw 11 Israeli athletes and coaches by Palestinian terrorists, Rogge stated that it’s not “an atmosphere that is not fit to remember such a tragic incident.” Really, or is it discrimination?

Like it or not Jacques, this is a lasting image of the Olympics

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge won’t budge: There will be no minute’s silence for the Israeli victims of the 1972 Munich massacre at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics.

Rogge rejected the latest calls Saturday for a special observance to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the murder of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches by Palestinian gunmen at the Munich Games.

“We feel that the opening ceremony is an atmosphere that is not fit to remember such a tragic incident,” Rogge said.

The IOC has come under pressure from politicians in the United States, Israel and Germany to pay tribute to the slain Israelis during Friday’s ceremony.

The Late Great ABC’s Jim McKay … “they are all gone”

Could you be any more DISRESPECTFUL, not the right atmosphere? It is exactly the right atmosphere as a reminder of what happened 40 years ago.  Instead the IOC would rather keep their collective heads in the sand and pretend like it never happened. It is exactly the correct moment to put it on the world stage for all to see and to condemn violence, murder and terrorism. But no, instead Rogge comes up with excuses to have it remembered in other less public ways. Can you say GUTLESS! What’s the matter Jacques, are you afraid you might upset radical Islam? Or are you afraid you might upset and antagonize Muslim countries participating in the games? And if such countries would be upset over a one minute remembrance of the slaughter of athletes and coaches who were just participating in the Olympic games, what does that tell us about so-called mainstream Islam?

The IOC’s logic to all of this is if a murderous, terrorist act occurs in the woods and no one is there to see the remembrance, did it really happen? However, it would seem that all are not going to keep their heads in the sand and pretend like it never happened. NBC’s Bob Costas intends to remember the slain Israeli’s during the Opening Ceremonies and call out the IOC.

ABC News 1972 Munich massacre coverage

“I intend to note that the IOC denied the request,” Costas said. “Many people find that denial more than puzzling but insensitive. Here’s a minute of silence right now.”

Costas appears to be joining the efforts of Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon and Ankie Spitzer, whose husband was among the Munich victims. Ayalon said the IOC refusal of his request to commemorate the victims was “unacceptable.” Spitzer, meanwhile, has been petitioning to have a moment of silence during the Opening Ceremony, to no avail.

“The IOC’s refusal is pure discrimination,” she said.

A note to the IOC, like it or not but the 1972 Olympic massacre of Israeli’s is part of your past. If you want to embrace the good of the brilliance and skill of Russian gymnast Olga Korbut (video) from the 1972 Olympics, you also have to deal with the bad. To simply ignore it does not trivialize those that were killed, it trivializes you. By pretending terrorism did not take place during the Olympics does not make it goo away, it shows your weakness and acceptance. If you pretend that it never happened, you open yourself up to it occurring again.

The moment of silence should have been done and the victims names should have been named, no different than what they do in the United States for the victims of 9-11. Since the IOC does not have the respects or guts to do so, we shall.

“NO TEBOWING ZONE” … Two Riverhead High School Students Suspended for Tebow”ing”

Who knew that a high school hallway was a “No Tebowing” zone. Educators really need to get educated.

How on Earth have we got to the point where high school kids get suspended for “Tebowing”? In a world where high school kids are smoking, drinking, sexting, puffing, bullying, hazing, harassing, cursing, assaulting, raping, cheating and doing drugs to name just a few … the brain surgeon administrators at Riverhead High School in Long Island, NY suspended students for “Tebowing” in the hallway.

No running in the halls — and no Tebowing either.

That’s what one Long Island administration said Wednesday when it suspended a group of high school athletes for replicating Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow’s popular pose in the hallway at school.

Jordan Fulcoly, Wayne Drexel and brothers Tyler and Connor Carroll of Riverhead High School were all handed a one-day suspension Wednesday, after three days of taking a knee with their foreheads resting on their fists, the same way Tebow does in the end zone and on the sidelines. The news was first reported by Yahoo! Prep Rally earlier Thursday.

Riverhead superintendent Nancy Carney said that two of the students’ suspensions were later rescinded, citing that administrators found that those students were not given the same warnings that the other two were.

Seriously folks, they were “Tebowing” … not smoking in the boys room. They students who were suspended stated it was an over-reaction by the school and that they were honoring Tim Tebow, who they look to as a role model. Tebow is a winner, a leader and a role model who doen’s do steroids and has great faith. Yup, that’s exactly what needs to be punished.

Just curious, If Elly Manning of the NY Giants or Mark Sanchez of the Jets were  going to one knee, would the Long Island high school gone to this extreme? Better yet, if they were Muslim students praying to Mecca, would suspensions have been warranted?

People need to get a grip … in this day and age high school age kids need all the decent, honorable role models they can get. In the words of one of the suspended school students, “I think they screwed up”. AGREED!

“She wanted to make a difference in her life. She wanted to make her mark, and she did so in so powerful a way that even she cannot imagine,” said Bishop Gerald Kicanas during his homily.

Billy Joel’s “Lullaby” was played at the mass of 9 year old Christina Taylor Green

Goodnight my angel now it’s time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child will cry and if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart there will always be a part of me

Someday we’ll all be gone But lullabies go on and on
They never die that’s how you and I will be

Make no mistake about it folks, good always conquers over evil. From something terrible always comes something good. Such is the case of the eye-tearing and senseless loss of 9 year old Christina Taylor Green whose life was taken far to soon at the hands of an evil madman Jared Loughner. Christina Taylor Green was born on a day of  unimaginable horror, September 11, 2001 and died on another, January 8, 2011 during the Tucson massacre. Rest in Peace, You made a Wonderful difference

The organs of nine-year-old Christina-Taylor Green, the youngest victim of last week’s shootings in Tucson, Ariz., have been donated to a Boston-area child, her father revealed to The Boston Globe

The Globe reports today that John Green told the newspaper that he received a phone call about the transplant, but does not know any further details about who received his little girl’s organs, or at which hospital.

A spokesman for the New England Organ Bank told the Globe he is unable to comment on donations.

Green told the Globe that the news that his daughter’s organs were able to save the life of another child “really lifted” his spirits, and he and her mother, Roxanna Green are proud of Christina, “who has done another amazing thing.”

Christina has made the greatest difference one could ever make, she has helped save a Boston area girl. She has fulfilled her wish of always wanting to make a difference. Christina’s parents were asked whether they would like to one day meet the girl who received their daughter’s organs … John Green responded and said, “yes, he would, I’d give her a big hug. It’s a blessing”.
