Diario: Natalee Holloway investigation remains focused on the original suspects, according to commissioner Dompig
From Diario October 26, 2005; INVESTIGACION DEN CASO NATALEE HOLLOWAY, TA SIGUI ENFOCA RIBA E SOSPECHOSONAN ORIGINAL, esaki segun Comisario Dompig
In the Diario article Dompig states that “he found it regrettable that the judge let the suspects go, because the police force saw it differently. They thought that they had enough proof for them to remain in detention still.”
Dompig further went on to say, “he continued to say that he has to live with the judge’s decision, but this doesn’t take away from the fact that the investigation continues, and that the focus remains on these suspects because they are not off the hook yet.”
English translated article:
ORANJESTAD (AAN): During an interview, DIARIO asked Dompig if the investigation on the case of Natalee Holloway remains in the direction of the original suspects, Joran van der Sloot, Satish Kalpoe and Deepak Kalpoe.
The commissioner explains that it is true that that is the case, because everything shows that they have to know more, given that Natalee went with them in the car. However, this does not exclude other suspects in this case.
DIARIO asked Dompig how the story turned out where one or more of the suspects said during an interrogation that Natalee was perhaps killed.
According to the commissioner it turned out that they don’t know anything of this, and that they only know that they left her on the beach.
He continues to say that it is important to verify their version, where he explains that they have to prove that they went in front of Joran van der Sloot’s house, so people in the community think that they have seen the gray Honda Civic around 1:40 am.
If there are people who saw the car parked at the house at that time, it is very important that they get in touch with police.
DIARIO asked the commissioner about the verbal declarations made to police, where one of the suspects declared that he believes that one of the other suspects killed Natalee and if something is being done with this.

Paul Van der Sloot: “Asking the judge to rule officially that he is not a suspect in the case”, Just as Dompig starts from the beginning.
Who does not find the following situation convenient and rather peculiar? Paul Van der Sloot, “asking the judge to rule officially that he is not a suspect in the case”, just as new Deputy Police Chief Dompig starts from the beginning in the investigation of Natalee Holloway. You make the call.
Paul Van der Sloot who was once arrested and held in connection with the disappearance of an Alabama teenager, Natalee Holloway “has petitioned a judge to clear him of suspicion in the case so that he can be rehired by the government.”
Joran’s father, Paul van der Sloot, was arrested June 23 in connection with the case and was released on June 26.
Paul van der Sloot “is asking the judge to rule officially that he is not a suspect in the case,” said Arie Swaen, after coming out of the courthouse in the capital, Oranjestad, Friday.
In an ongoing investigation where Deputy Police Chief Gerold Dompig has made a much more concerted effort to investigate the case of missing teen Natalee Holloway than his predecessor; Paul Van der Sloot looks to the courts to not be a suspect? The courts where many believe that Paul Van der Sloot has many friends and allies. It is impossible to imagine that anyone other than those that are actually investigating the matter of Natalee Holloway would make such a determination. Dompig has stated on many occasions during many interviews that they are basically starting this investigation from the beginning.
As stated last night on Scarborough Country discussing the difference between the two investigations as being like night and day.
Joe Scarborough: I will tell you, the difference between this new investigator and the investigator who is friends with the van der Sloots seems like the difference between night and day. This guy actually seems very aggressive, like he wants to get to the bottom of the story. You and your family have to be somewhat pleased that this investigation is finally, it seems to me, taking on a new life.

Dave Holloway: “Yes, for the first time we have gotten some guidance on what areas to focus our search efforts on”.
From The Abrams Report; October 24, 2005 Dave Holloway discusses the search efforts in Aruba for his missing daughter, Natalee Holloway. The water searches continue in Aruba with Texas Equusearch as the family finally gets direction for the first time according to Dave Holloway from Aruban officials. This is an almost incredible comment some 5 months into the investigation.
Abrams: Dave you are in Aruba searching for Natalee, but you are not just searching in random areas right? You are getting guidance in where you should look?
Dave: Yes, for the first time we have gotten some guidance on what areas to focus our search efforts on.
Abrams: Where is that coming from?
Dave: That’s coming from Chief Dompig himself.
More from the interview:
Abrams: Joining me on the phone from Aruba is Dave Holloway. Dave, first of all what do you make of this development?
Dave: Well, I’m hopeful they will make something out of it. I think America knows, really everyone knows what happened it is a matter of just proving it. That’s the problem we’re rising with the judge, or the judge of instruction.
Abrams: So the chief is telling you to look in a particular area.
Do you want to tell us where generally or how he is coming up with these areas?

Gerold Dompig: “If the tapes are authentic, not altered the next step would be we call in Deepak once more for questioning”.
Greta Van Susteren October 24, 2005: Part One with Dompig
Gerold Dompig along with the Prosecutor and investigative team has seen the Jaime Skeeter’s Deepak tapes that were shown on the Dr. Phil Show. They are now on their way to Holland for authenticity. Dompig goes though point out a couple of discrepancies in the tapes and issues. Although, some of his points seem rather trivial as he seemed to have no problem with the audio portion of the tapes.
Dompig: Yes, we have and that is the first you could say stumbling block. Because the transcripts, especially the part where he supposedly admits to having sex or at least the group having sex with her is not exactly matching what we are hearing on the tapes. So, there’s some discrepancy there and that’s why we need technicians from Holland to look at it.
Dompig: Well, there’s a part where Mr. Skeeters suggests that…literally he says I’m sure that she had sex with you all. His response to that was (at least we can hear) is something like she did or she didn’t. So it’s not clear whether he denies it or agrees with that activity.
Dompig: No, not the audio. What is a bit disturbing though is during the conversation we only see a part of the back of the head of Deepak. So, it is not possible to see him really talking. You hear him talking and you see the back of his head. You could say that is not really something that helps us.
See the tape for yourselves to make your own judgement.
However, if these tapes are authenticated Deepak Kalpoe is going to have much explaining as Dompig and the prosecutors office both see discrepancies in what was said on the tapes and what was given to them in statements.
Dompig: Well, we don’t know yet. We have set a couple of steps. If the tapes are authentic, not altered the next step would be we call in Deepak once more for questioning.
Greta: What was the prosecutor’s reaction to the tapes as you watched her listen to them?
Dompig: Well, she was stunned. Because the little discrepancies we saw in the tapes at least suggest that what we have in the statements is probably not correct.

Dave Holloway; “Do you have children?” (Natalee Holloway)
That is the answer that Dave Holloway provides when people ask him how he copes with the disappearance of his daughter, Natalee Holloway. It probably is the best answer that one can give and have a direct impact. It is probably safe to say that those without children can also tend to relate the the pain, anguish and suffering that Dave Holloway experiences in dealing with the Natalee investigation.
“Do you have children?”
That’s the way Dave Holloway, formerly of Clinton, responds when people ask him how he’s coping with the disappearance of his daughter, Natalee.
“If you do, you know exactly how I feel,” he said, referring to tightly strung emotions tinged with loss and frustration since his daughter went missing May 30 on the last night of her senior trip to Aruba.
Today would be Natalee Holloway’s 19th birthday and instead of spending it with his daughter Dave Holloway is in Aruba with Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch continuing the search for Natalee. Dave Holloway is also meeting with new Aruban deputy Police Chief, Gerold Dompig, starting from square one the search for Natalee Holloway. For those that do not believe mistakes were made in the investigation, things missed whether they be intentionally or unintentionally; its hard to imagine Dompig would admit starting from the beginning if they were not.
With the new Aruban deputy police chief (Gerold Dompig) in place, it’s like starting all over,” Dave Holloway said in a phone interview. “He says he’s going back to the beginning and going forward from there.
No matter what side the the story one falls on no one can deny the absolute pain and anguish that the disappearance of a daughter does on a parent. Its a parents worst nightmare and unless one walks in their shoes it is pretty difficult to condemn a parents reaction to the disappearance of their child. It can be nothing but an all consuming event that makes all else in ones life put into perspective.
“Even if I’m not searching for her in Aruba or following up on tips on the computer here in Meridian, she’s still on my mind,” he said. “It’s hard to concentrate on anything else.”
As Dave Holloway searches for his daughter today, please remember it is Natalee Holloway’s 19th birthday. A day of searching that much be even more difficult than most.
Please feel free to post your thought and wishes to the family on Natalee’s birthday in the forum.
