Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) Announces the Inevitable … His Retirement Following Sexually Harassment Scandals

WHO DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING …

On Tuesday, Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan) has resigned from office. Sorry, he is calling it a retirement. One too many women came forward to sexually harassment allegations he knew to be true. The end was near when Conyers went into the hospital for stress. This was an obvious way to have an out. I guess this is one way to drain the swamp. What is probably most troubling and becomes obvious to the out of touch nature of Conyers is that in the midst of the sexual allegations of misconduct, some of which settlements were made, he said the following in his retirement, “My legacy can’t be compromised or diminished in any way by what we’re going through now. This too shall pass.” Really? That’s how flipped this Democrat man is with sexual misconduct against women. Also, in some vision that Michigan is a monarchy, Conyers endorsed his son to run for his seat. To the people of Michigan, why don’t you try a fresh start.

Embattled Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan, has announced Tuesday that he is retiring and has endorsed his son, John Conyers III to run for his seat. Conyers’ lawyer confirmed that the retirement is effective immediately.

“My legacy can’t be compromised or diminished in any way by what we’re going through now. This too shall pass,” said Conyers on a local Michigan radio station Tuesday morning.

He added, “I want you to know that my legacy will continue through my children. I have a great family here and especially in my oldest boy, John Conyers III who incidentally I endorsed to replace me in my seat in Congress.”

Shortly after the announcement,  Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, took to the House floor to read a statement from Conyers. She said he asked her to read his statement announcing his decision and that he’s notified House Speaker Paul Ryan, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder of his plans to step down.

“Given the totality of the circumstance of not being afforded the right of due process in conjunction with current health conditions, and to preserve my legacy and good name, I am retiring. I hope my retirement will be viewed in the larger perspective of my record of service as I enter a new chapter,” the statement from Conyers read.

While Conyers maintains he would be retiring immediately, CBS News’ Steve Chaggaris reports that Conyers’ resignation from the House will trigger a special election to replace him to be called by the governor, per Michigan law. That will take place as soon as the Michigan governor’s office receives his letter of resignation.

U.S. Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) Won’t Seek Re-election in 2018 in Wake of Sexual Harassment Claims

ACTUALLY HE NEEDS TO RESIGN NOW!

In the wake of multiple sexual harassment claims, U.S. Representative John Conyers (D-MI) will not seek re-election to the House in 2018. After receiving praise for being a political Icon by Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the backlash against the Congressman has been massive following the many allegations of sexual harassment. The calls for Conyers to resign have been growing. However, he states that he will not be forced out of office. Wanna bet? The pressure will become too much for Conyers to stay. The archaic, dinosaur mentality of this man thinking he can withstand the sexual harassment and assault purge is just that, prehistoric. According to his attorney Arnold Reed, “He’s not going to be forced out of office, and no one has told him he has to leave. He has not indicated he’s going to resign at this point.” The key word here is “at this point.” It is only a matter of time. No one is immune to this wave, not even members of the black caucus.

John Conyers

The controversy swirling around Michigan Rep. John Conyers has intensified this week as former staff members accused him of sexual harassment.

Sources told Local 4 that Conyers will not seek re-election for a new term in the wake of the scandal, which continues to grow.

Two sources close to the Conyers situation told Local 4′s Rod Meloni that the congressman won’t resign. It’s his intent to announce in January that he won’t run for re-election in 2018.

His attorney said the allegations are not true, but Conyers is under increased scrutiny, and his family is rallying around him.

Conyers caught a bit of a break Wednesday as the Congressional Black Caucus met in Washington and Chairman Cedric Richmond disputed the stories saying he is pushing for Conyers to resign.

Among the former staffers accusing Conyers of sexual harassment is Deanna Maher, who claimed Conyers sexually harassed her three times, including undressing to his underwear in her bedroom while she was in a nightgown.

Matt Lauer Fired from NBC News After Complaint about ‘Inappropriate Sexual Behavior’

NBC NEWS MATT LAUER FIRED!!!

As reported at CNN, Matt Lauer was fired from NBC News due to a complaint flied by an employee into “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.” According to Page 6, Lauer allegedly sexually assaulted a female NBC staffer during the Rio Olympics.  The NBC staffer, who wishes to remain anonymous, complained to NBC bosses yesterday, prompting them to move fast and fire him. As per NBC News, this may not be an isolated incident. Savannah Guthrie read a statement from NBC News chairman Andy Lack, stating that the company has received a detailed complaint from a colleague Monday night “about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace” by Lauer.

Matt Lauer was fired from NBC News on Wednesday after an employee filed a complaint about “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,” the network announced.

Savannah Guthrie made the announcement at the top of the “Today” show. Lauer has been the cornerstone of the program, one of the most profitable franchises on television, for two decades.

NBC News chairman Andrew Lack said in a memo to staff that it was the first complaint lodged against Lauer in his career at the network. But he said “we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.”

Lauer was informed of the network’s decision late Tuesday night, before he went to bed, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Reporters for The New York Times and Variety had been investigating Lauer for several weeks, according to sources who had been contacted by the Times.

NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, ‘Today Show’ host made the following comments with regards to the news of the firing of Matt Lauer.

Guthrie said she was informed just moments before going on the air.

“This is a sad morning at ‘Today’ and NBC News,” she said. “As I’m sure you can understand, we are devastated. I’m heartbroken for Matt.”

Guthrie also said she was heartbroken for the woman who accused Lauer of misconduct, noting “it’s long overdue” that women feel comfortable coming forward against abusive men.

Hoda Kotb, on the set with Guthrie, said she has known Lauer for years and “loved him as a friend and a colleague.”

“It’s hard to reconcile the man who walks in every day” with the person who was identified in the complaint, she said.

Lauer, 59, was named a co-anchor of “Today” in January 1997 after three years as the newsreader.

Pelosi Defends Serial Sexual Harasser and Calls Conyers an Icon while ABC News Cokie Roberts Says, “Every Female in the Press Corps Knew” To Avoid Getting in An Elevator With Rep. Conyers (D-MI)

HOW HARVEY WEINSTEINESQUE … THE MSM KNEW THIS DEMOCRAT WAS A SERIAL OFFENDER AND SAID NOTHING

Even as Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi defends the boorish actions of Rep. Conyers (D-MI), ABC’s Cokie Roberts makes a startling admission that “every female in the press corps knew” to avoid being in an elevator with Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). Imagine that. So guess who also knew about Conyes’ inappropriate conduct? That would be Nancy Pelosi. Robert’s stated on ABC ‘This Week,’ “Don’t get in the elevator with him, you know, and the whole every female in the press corps knew that, right, don’t get in elevator with him. Now people are saying it out loud. And I think that does make a difference.”

Everybody knew about his conduct for years and said nothing. The liberal MSM, Democrats, nobody, not even House Republicans. Why is that? is the cesspool in Washington DC any different than Hollywood? And now we have politicians policing their own when they had done nothing for years but look the other way. Its time for these people to be thrown out of office. These are serial offenders and because of their power, they are untouchable. This is just yet another reason for term limits. But instead of throwing Conyers out of office or he doing the right thing by resigning, we have the likes of Pelosi defending him and calling him an icon. And you wonder why this type of behavior was allowed to go on?

Pelosi Defends Conyers … Sounds like he has done a great deal to sexually harass women there Nancy

Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Cokie Roberts made a startling admission: “every female in the press corps knew” to avoid being in an elevator with Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), and has apparently known about this “for years.” Conyers has been accused of multiple instances of sexual harassment and has stepped down from the House Judiciary Committee.

Despite the allegations against him, major players in the Democratic Party have defended Conyers and will not say that he should resign. Pelosi even referred to the embattled congressman as an “icon.”

Roberts was discussing the current culture on Capitol Hill with Martha Raddatz and Anna Palmer. Roberts said that while this has been the status quo for decades, she believes that things could change now that people are coming public with their experiences.

“The fact that people are willing to be public can change things. I mean, we all talked about for years,” said Roberts.

Further, Roberts says that it “does make a difference” now that women are not being shy about this kind of misconduct. Roberts implied that Conyers’ predatory behavior was an open secret among the press corps.

“Don’t get in the elevator with him, you know, and the whole every female in the press corps knew that, right, don’t get in elevator with him,” said Roberts. She continued, “Now people are saying it out loud. And I think that does make a difference.”

This is the party that was defending women, eh?

UNREAL SEXUAL HARASSMENT DOUBLE STANDARD … Al Franken Asked Whether He’s Ever Groped a Woman’s Butt: ‘I Can’t Say I Haven’t’ Done That’

THE DEMOCRAT SEXUAL HARASSMENT DOUBLE STANDARD: AS FRANKEN AND DEMOCRATS CONDEMN REPUBLICANS, FRANKEN THINKS HE SHOULD GET A PASS …

If we are going to be serious and fair about sexual harassment and assault in politics, then Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) would have to go right now. He not only has been accused of groping women on multiple occasions, there is video proof. But that makes no difference when one is a Democrat. He was asked in an interview whether he had ever placed a hand on some woman’s butt? Franken’s response, “I can’t say that it hasn’t happened. In crowded chaotic situations, I can’t say I haven’t done that” Really, you are going to blame being in a crowded situation for knowingly and purposely putting your hands on a woman’s ass? This man is a true POS. Franken can’t say he hasn’t done it because he obviously has made a habit out of doing so. But instead of leaving office in disgrace like he should, Franken is going to return to office. Nope, it is different for Democrats. Franken claims he is embarrassed and ashamed. No, he is ashamed and embarrassed that he was caught. He had more than enough time to come clean on what he did and decided to remain silent. They get to molest women and then claim they are sorry and some how get a free pass. This is the double standard of the LEFT. As they cry for investigations of individuals like Roy Moore, where there are only 40 year old allegations, politicians like Franken and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), where there is actual proof, get treated differently. If we are going to drain the swamp, lets do it once and for all. Where is the outrage? The MSM salivates over such a story involving President Trump. Instead, they are provided factual ones with liberal Democrats and they all but ignore the story.

“I’ve let a lot of people down and I’m hoping I can make it up to them and gradually regain their trust,” said Franken, who broke an eight-day silence Sunday to talk by phone about what he’s done and what he’ll be doing next.

For starters, he said, “I’m looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow.”

Via Mediaite:

Sen. Al Franken, who is currently plagued by a number of sexual misconduct accusations, received a tough grilling in a 30-minute interview with WCCO on whether he has ever grabbed a woman’s backside.

In the first television interview since four women accused the Minnesota senator of sexual misconduct, Franken apologized and said he was “embarrassed and ashamed of some of what has come out.”

When confronted by WCCO’s Esme Murphy about Leanne Tweeden’s allegation that he forcibly kissed her during a USO tour in 2006, Franken said he “had a different recollection of the kiss.”

“My recollection is different than hers. I apologized to her and meant it and she was gracious enough to accept my apology,” Franken said.

With regards to the picture of Franken groping Tweeden’s chest as she slept, the senator said that “was inexcusable and that is what I am most ashamed for.”

In the interview Murphy tried to hold Franken down on several other allegations that he grabbed women’s buttocks while posing for photos, asking if the women are mistaken that he groped them.

Picture proof of his sexual assault and he is still in office

Franken grope

“I am not saying that,” Franken replied. “As I said, I take thousands of photos. I don’t remember these particular photos.”

“With all due respect, people are going to find it hard to believe that someone such as yourself wouldn’t know that they were grabbing someone’s butt,” Murphy shot back.

“I can understand how some people would see it that way,” Franken said.

“But have you ever placed a hand on some woman’s butt?” Murphy asked.

“I can’t say that it hasn’t happened. In crowded chaotic situations, I can’t say I haven’t done that. I am very sorry if these women experienced that,” Franken conceded.

Franken also told Murphy that he does not intend to step down from the Senate, and will return to his office on Monday.

How can any political branch of government have this kind of proof of sexual assault and allow them to be in office. This from the same Democrat party that brought us Bill Clinton and the many women who accused him of assault and even rape. That’s right, the Democrats are supposed to be the party of women, aren’t they?
