53 year old Brian Martens has been arrested and charged one count of producing child pornography and one count of receiving child pornography after having taken “pornographic” pictures of his 3 young daughters and sharing them with other men. It appears that Martens is proving a different and pathetic kind of defense stating that the pics were not child porn, but instead the pictures “are regular family portraits of a naturist family.” Hmm, Brian Martens may also have land to sell you in the Everglades …  Martens is a former resident of the Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort in Loxahatchee Groves, FL. However as reported at ABC News, federal magistrate Judge Bill Matthewman said in court on Wednesday that the images of the girls, aged 8 to 12, were suggestive enough that Martens should stand trial.  Judge Bill Matthewman said that many of the photos the court has reviewed are lascivious and they are, in the court’s opinion, sexually explicit.”  If convicted Martens faces a maximum sentence of 30 years for producing child pornography and an additional 20 years if convicted of receiving child porn.

A South Florida nudist, arrested on charges that he helped take pornographic photographs of his three young daughters and shared them with other men, is putting on an unusual defense.

Brian Martens, 53, who was living at a nudist colony in Palm Beach County, is arguing that there is nothing pornographic about the pictures and that they are regular family portraits of a naturist family.

Federal prosecutors say they believe several of the photographs are clearly inappropriate and the final judgment call should lie with a trial jury. A grand jury has already voted there was enough evidence to indict Martens on one count of producing child pornography and one count of receiving child pornography.

The three girls have been taken away from Martens by the Florida Department of Children & Families following Vanaman’s arrest. The children are currently in foster care; however, Martens’ attorney said the girls will be returned to their mother in Illinois, who knew about and supported their decision to live in a nudist community. Great, sounds like they are headed to another irresponsible parent.

Professional photographer, Leslie Grey Vanaman, who  owned A Shade of Grey Photography was already tried and convicted of child porn and is currently serving a 60 year sentence.

Vanaman is serving 60 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to charges of receiving and possessing child pornography — including the photographs of Martens’ daughters and other children, prosecutors said. Vanaman already had a 2004 state conviction in New Jersey of possessing child pornography downloaded from the Internet, court records show.

For what it is worth, Marten’s defense attorney James Eisenberg, never gave his permission for the explicit pic of a close-up shot of one of the girl’s genital area to be shot. Reports say that the father cried when he was shown the pictures; however, upon review Marten’s computer shows a much, much different story.

Marten’s attorney James Eisenberg agreed that one of the photographs is child pornography — one the judge described as a close-up shot of one of the girl’s genital area — but said his client did not know the photograph was taken and never gave his permission for it to be shot. Martens hired a professional family photographer to take family portraits, Eisenberg said.

Martens told the agents he only gave permission for Vanaman to take naturist photos.

But further analysis of Vanaman’s computer revealed a very different story, Galler told the judge. Martens had signed releases and received on several occasions more than 50 photographs that contained child pornography of the three girls taken between 2010 and 2012, Galler said.

Agents also found emails between Martens, Vanaman and a third man in which they discussed Vanaman’s “craft” and “the sensuality and sexuality” of the images.

The assault took place at the Onondaga County Justice Center David J. Renz of Cicero  kidnapped Lori Bresnahan, 47, a library media specialist with the Liverpool School District, and her daughter Saturday night in front of the Great Northern Mall in the Town of Clay. Lori Bresnahan later died from stab wounds and her daughter some how miraculously escaped the vehicle and was helped by a motorist.  Renz was charged with first degree rape, first degree kidnapping, first and second degree murder.

 Authorities say a man accused of killing a Syracuse woman and raping her 10-year-old daughter during a carjacking was beaten and suffered a broken nose on his first day in jail.

The Post-Standard, of Syracuse, reports that David Renz had a swollen face and tissues stuffed up both nostrils when he appeared in federal court Friday to face a probation violation charge.

His attorneys say Renz was assaulted by other inmates at the Onondaga County Justice Center, where he was taken following his arrest Thursday night.

Sheriff Kevin Walsh told the newspaper he was looking into why Renz was put into a holding area with other prisoners.

Renz deactivated his electronic monitoring device off his ankle before he viscously attached 47 year old Lori A. Bresnahan and her 10 year old daughter.

Before Renz attacked 47-year-old Lori A. Bresnahan and a 10-year-old girl in the Great Northern Mall parking lot Thursday night, he deactivated the ankle bracelet he was fitted with when federal authorities released him from custody in January on child pornography charges.

The monitoring company didn’t detect anything until Renz had already committed the crimes and was in police custody.

Renz, who has a computer science degree from SUNY Oswego, deactivated his ankle bracelet at 7 p.m., according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Fletcher. His curfew required him to stay at his mother’s house on Lakeshore Road.

Note to law enforcement, prosecutors, judges and probation folks … don’t let pedophiles out in the public, let alone ones with computer science degrees and given them electronic ankle bracers.

Police Launch Child Porn Investigation at St Pauls in Chains Roman Catholic Church in Waterbury, CT

As if the Roman Catholic Church has not had enough black eyes when it comes to the sexual abuse of children.

It is being reported by WFSB that State police have launched a child porn investigation at the St. Paul’s in Chains Roman Catholic Church in Waterbury, Connecticut.Authorities have seized a computer from the Rectory as part of the child pornography investigation. Also, Father Dennis Carey has resigned. As reported at Fox News, Norwich Bishop Michael Cote will release a letter to parishioners during masses this weekend announcing that he has received and accepted the resignation of their pastor, Fr. Dennis Carey. So far there have not been any arrests; however, a prompt resignation cannot be a good sign.

WFSB-TV is reporting that state police seized a computer at Rectory of St. Paul in Chains Church as part of an investigation into possible child pornography, and Father Dennis Carey has resigned.

The news report said a computer was seized Thursday at the Waterford church, and Carey resigned, effective immediately. According to the article, a letter to members in the church by Most Reverend Michael Cote, Bishop of Norwich, said, “I have received and accepted the resignation of your pastor, Father Dennis Carey. His resignation is effective immediately.”

Steven Powell, the father-in-law of missing Utah mom Susan Powell, could actually be released from prison in less than one year even though he was convicted of 14 voyeurism counts. More to the point, he was taking pics and video of two under age neighbor girls. Even though prosecutors asked for 10 years, the judge gave him a slap on the wrist and only sentenced this perv to 2-1/2 years which will translate into less than a year. How sick. I still cannot comprehend how processing child porn got him such a weak sentence. One has to wonder, what is more perverse, Steven Powell taking pics of little girls or the punishment handed down as so-called Justice?

The father-in-law of missing Utah woman Susan Powell may be released from prison in less than a year, despite being convicted of 14 voyeurism counts.

Steven Powell was sentenced earlier this month to 2 1/2 years in prison for recording images of two neighbor girls in their bathroom. After factoring for time served, good time and reductions because he is a nonviolent offender, the state has calculated his potential release date as May 23, 2013.

Prosecutors had asked for Powell to be sentenced to 10 years.

Susan Powellwent missing and was last seen the evening of December 6, 2008.  She has never been seen or heard from since. Josh Powell, the husband and main suspect in the disappearance of Susan Powell, would later kill himself and his two children in a fiery blaze murder-suicide.

Steven Powell, the father in law of missing Utah woman Susan Powell was sentenced to 2-1/2 years in prison for recording images of two neighbor girls in their bathroom in Washington state. Among the 1000′s of pics recovered during the search for missing Susan Powell, included the neighbor girls, who were about 8 and 10 when the images were recorded taking baths and in the bathroom. 2 and 1/2 years … that’s it!!! How can the possession of child pornography only garner such a low sentence?  Sadly, could it could not be determined when the pics were taken and Washington state did not make voyeurism a ranked felony in 2006.

The mother of Steven Powell’s victims was trembling and tearful in court as she stood with her back to him and said she’s still waiting for an apology.

“You’ve sat there smugly and acted as though it’s perfectly normal to have committed your crimes,” she said. “I’m so angry. I’m angry for the hurt you caused my children. You caused them embarrassment and heartache.”

Powell, wearing a gray jail uniform, declined to speak.

Pierce County prosecutors had asked for Powell, 62, to be sentenced to 10 years. His attorneys sought zero to 12 months, saying it’s not clear exactly when Powell took the pictures, and it could have been before the state made voyeurism a ranked felony in 2006.

What a sick and twisted family. Among the images recovered from Steve Powell’s home were many of Susan Powell that appeared to have been filmed without her knowledge. Also discovered were journals in which Steve Powell detailed his obsession with Susan Powell. Steven Powell’s son, Josh Powell, killed himself and his two young sons in a February fire at a home in Graham. Josh Powell was the prime suspect in Susan Powell’s disappearance.
