ABC News projects Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will win the New Hampshire Democratic primary, based on exit poll data and vote analysis.

Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, led former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in recent polls in the Granite State. Following a close race in Iowa between the two contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination, which Clinton barely won, both campaigns ramped up their attacks in New Hampshire.

Bernie Sanders Prevails and G.O.P. Has 3-Way Tie as 3 New Hampshire Towns Vote.

The results are in.

Or, at least, the first results from the tiny New Hampshire towns — Dixville Notch, Millsfield and Hart’s Location — that practice the time-honored tradition of voting at midnight to claim the distinction of casting the election’s first primary ballots.

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont emerged as the Democrats’ big winner of the wee hours on Tuesday, with 17 votes in total, while Hillary Clinton received nine.

On the Republican side, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, Donald J. Trump and Gov. John Kasich of Ohio each had nine votes.

In the early, early voting it would appear that Bernie Sanders has raced out to a 17-9 lead over Hillary Clinton.

As for the Republicans it is a much tighter race as Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and John Kasich all have 9 votes a piece, followed by Christie with 3, Bush 2, Rubio 2 and Carson and Fiorino with 1.

NH PRIMARIES 2016: Dixville Notch, NH Has Voted: Sanders & Kasich With Early Lead

NH PRIMARIES 2016: EARLY VOTE HAS BEEN COUNTED IN DIXVILLE NOTCH …

Just after 12 ‘o clock midnight, the polls opened in the tiny town of Dixville Notch. With all of the vote counted in Dixville Notch, Bernie Sanders defeats Hillary Clinton in a landslide, 4-0. Meanwhile for the Republicans it was a much tighter race as Ohio Gov. John Kasich garnered 3 votes and Donald Trump came in second with 2 votes. Here is an interesting tidbit, it was a second straight shutout loss for Mrs. Clinton, who also failed to get a single Dixville Notch vote in the 2008 primary. Hmm, is this a sign of things to come for Hillary in New Hampshire and the primaries as a whole? Dixville Notch is about 20 miles from the border with Canada and has 9 registered voters who are mostly employees of the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel.

dixville-notch

won the most Republican votes in Dixville Notch early Tuesday morning, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders won all the Democratic votes.

Kasich came away with three while business mogul Donald Trump won two. On the Democratic side, Sanders received four.

The results are a welcome sign for Kasich, whose campaign said he actively reached out to all nine voters who voted early Tuesday near the Canadian border in the first balloting of the New Hampshire primary.

The small groups of voters in the communities of Dixville Notch, Hart’s Location, and Millsfield all participated today in the idealized New Hampshire tradition of voting en masse at midnight when polls open. The votes of those communities — particularly Dixville Notch — are given outsize importance as predictors of who will go on to larger victories in the presidential race.

From This Week: Why are these voters able to cast their ballots so early? Under New Hampshire law, communities that have fewer than 100 voters can open their polls at midnight and close them once registered voters have cast their ballots, The Boston Globe reports. All nine voters in Dixville Notch are employees of the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel, and they voted inside a building on the property.

Poll Conducted by the Pro-John Kasich New Day for America Super PAC Shows Rubio Falling to 4th

THIS POLL SHOULD NOT SURPRISE ANYONE AFTER RUBIO’S TERRIBLE DEBATE PERFORMANCE ...

As reported by the Politico, a poll conducted by the Pro-John Kasich New Day for America Super PAC shows Marco Rubio falling after his disastrous debate performance. Donald Trump still has a commanding first place lead; however, is a mad scramble. With just one day left before the New Hampshire primaries, it should be interesting how this plays out. This may just turn out to be the RINO primary.

An internal poll conducted on Sunday suggests that Marco Rubio’s fumbled debate performance has damaged his prospects heading into the New Hampshire primary.

The poll, conducted by the pro-John Kasich New Day for America Super PAC, shows Rubio plummeting to fourth place in the primary here, with 10 percent of the vote. Most of the polling conducted in the immediate days before the debate showed Rubio in second place.

The survey, which was based on phone calls to 500 likely voters (margin of error plus or minus 3 percent), was conducted Sunday, the day following the latest Republican debate. Rubio came under scathing attack from Chris Christie, who cast the first term Florida senator as too unready, ambitious, and superficial to occupy the Oval Office.

Donald Trump holds a wide lead in the survey, receiving 35 percent. He more than doubles runner-up Kasich, who has 15 percent. In third is Jeb Bush, with 13 percent. Behind Rubio in fifth and sixth place, respectively, are Christie and Ted Cruz. Both receive 8 percent.

Although, why any one would vote for Kasich is puzzling.
