Another Defeat for Obama … Larry Summers Withdraws Name from Consideration as Chairman of the Federal Reserve

Larry Summers, Barack Obama’s preferred choice to head the Federal Reserve withdraws his name for consideration for Fed chair. Former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Harvard President Summers called President Obama to announce the withdrawn his name for consideration to succeed Ben Bernanke as Federal Reserve chairman. Obama accepted his resignation.

For Lawrence H. Summers, President Obama’s preferred candidate to lead the Federal Reserve, the messy debate over a military attack in Syria was the final sign.

After weeks of opposition to his candidacy from an array of progressives, the president’s inability to rally Congressional Democrats on Syria persuaded Mr. Summers that his most important audience — the Senate, which must confirm a Fed chairman — probably could not be won over.

He concluded that the White House was also unlikely to overcome opposition to his candidacy from many of the same Democrats, who view him as an opponent of stronger financial regulation, according to supporters who insisted on anonymity to describe confidential conversations with him.

“Clearly Obama couldn’t bring his own most enthusiastic supporters to back him on an issue of national security,” one supporter said. “How was he going to corral them for Larry?”

And like with a military strike on Syria, it was not the GOP that doomed Summers with his chances to become FED chair, it was the Democrat opposition. Summers got no love from Democrats and even less support from Obama who failed to convince Congress that Summers should be the next Fed chair.

Larry Summers on Sunday withdrew his name from consideration as chairman of the Federal Reserve, a defeat for President Barack Obama — who could not convince members of his own party to shelve their opposition to his former top economic adviser.

Summers, who previously served as Treasury secretary in the Clinton administration, director of the National Economic Council and president of Harvard, notified President Barack Obama of his decision with a phone call Sunday morning

Liberal Comedian Bill Maher Criticized Obama Intervention in Syria … U.S. is Looking “More like George Zimmerman” than World Police

Liberal comedian Bill Maher slapped back at Barack Obama and his handling of the Syrian crisis and stated that U.S. is looking less like the World police and “More like George Zimmerman.” Ouch, that is going to leave a mark from the far LEFT.. Would that mean that Obama’s handling of Syria is racist? Maher went on to say,  “we’re the only nation, as we’ve have seen in this Syrian fiasco, who threatens to drop bombs on you while telling you we don’t want to get involved.”

Liberal comedian Bill Maher said Friday the U.S. is looking “more like George Zimmerman” with regards to military force and criticized arguments over intervention in Syria.

“Forget the Syria debate, we need a debate on why we’re always debating whether to bomb someone. Because we’re starting to look not so much like the world’s policeman, but more like George Zimmerman. Itching to use force and then pretending it’s because we had no choice,” Maher said on his HBO program “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

Maher, who has been critical of President Barack Obama’s case to intervene in Syria, continued to condemn military force.

More from The Hinterland Gazette:

Maher asked, “How did we inherit this moral obligation to bring justice to the world via death from above?” “It doesn’t make any sense. Our schools are crumbling and we want to teach everyone else a lesson.”

War Hawk Barack Obama Backs off ‘Red Line’ … Opens Door for Diplomatic Solution (UPDATE: Syria says it accepted Russian Weapons Proposal)

HUGE OBAMA ABOUT FACE …

So let’s Understand Barack Obama’s foreign policy diplomacy on Syria and the “red line”. First Obama called for an immediate attack on Assad Syria for using chemical weapons. Obama called for the International community to go all in and strike Syria. Obama could garner no International support and domestic support here at home was non-existent. All the while as it looked like Congress would vote no on any military strike, Obama still held out that he did not need their permission and he could do it alone. Then on a lark, Sec. of State John Kerry said that if Assad gave up all his military weapons, he could prevent a strike. Now we learn that Assad may just take Kerry up on his offer. HUH? What happened to war hawk Obama’s absolute military strikes against Syria? It would now appear that Obama has changed his mind once again.

President Obama will address the nation Tuesday night to discuss the ongoing crisis in Syria, with the debate in Congress over a possible military strike effectively on hold as the president backs away from the “red line” and opens the door to a “diplomatic track.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has postponed a test vote originally teed up for Wednesday. That decision came as the president said in an interview with Fox News that he’s open to negotiations on an alternative plan that could avert a military strike.

Reid cited “international discussions” in postponing the vote to advance debate on the resolution authorizing the use of force against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government. Reid said it was not important to, “see how fast we can do this,” but rather “how well we can do this.”

The possible breakthrough pertains to a proposal, floated by Secretary of State John Kerry and then formally put forward by the Russians, to have the Assad regime turn over its chemical weapons to international control. Obama, in an interview with Fox News on Monday, opened the door to pursuing that option.

This is just head scratching that US foreign policy could have been handled so ineptly. In spite of his actions, we may actually avoid an even greater military conflict in the Middle East. The sad reality is that Putin is running circles around the novice President Obama.

UPDATE I: Obama: Strike ‘Absolutely’ on Hold if Syria Abandons Chemical Weapons.

UPDATE II: Syria says it accepted Russian weapons proposal.

UPDATE III: Syria says it “welcomes” Russian proposal to place chemical weapons under international control.

Syria on Monday quickly welcomed a call from Russia, its close ally, to place Syrian chemical arsenals under international control, then destroy them to avert a U.S. strike, but did not offer a time frame or any other specifics.

The statement by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem appeared to mark the first official acknowledgement by Damascus that it possesses chemical weapons and reflected what appeared to be an attempt by Syrian President Bashar Assad to avoid the U.S. military attack.

However, can the deal be trusted?

Former NBA Star Dennis Rodman Says North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un is His “Friend for Life” and Calls Barack Obama & Hillary Clinton “A**holes”

Basketball Diplomacy: From the files of even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every so often …

Never at a loss for words, former NBA star Dennis Rodman told reporters upon his return from North Korea, that North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un is His “friend for life” and that both Barack Obama and former Secretary of state Hillary Clinton were “A$$holes”. Rodman also was correct when he rejected calls for him to lobby the North Korean dictator to release imprisoned American citizen Kenneth Bae. Rodman responded to reporters, “Guess what? That’s not my job to ask about Kenneth Bae.  Ask Obama about that. … Ask Hillary Clinton. … Ask those a**holes.” He is actually right, it s their job and maybe the media needs to confront Obama and Clinton why they have done nothing. So are “We the People” supposed to be doing the job of the President and Sec. of State? Just a friendly reminder, they work for us, the the other way around.

Following his visit to North Korea, retired NBA star Dennis Rodman returned praising North Korean dictator Kim Jon Un and referring to President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as “a**holes.”

“He’s my friend for life. I don’t care what you guys think about him. I don’t give a [expletive] what people around the world think about him. But he’s my friend. And you saw it on the pictures. He’s my friend,” Rodman said, according to CBS News.

Maybe the MSM needs to remember these failures on the part of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she runs for president in 2016, instead of continuing to proclaim she was the best Secretary of State EVER!

CNN: Obama Administration Using These Gruesome Videos of Alleged Chemical Attack to Guilt America into Military Action Against Assad & Syrian

As reported at CNN, the Obama Administration is using gruesome and disturbing videos of the aftermath of a chemical attack against the Syrian people by Syrian President Assad. But how is this any different than being told that a chemical attack occurred? It’s more of the same play on emotional, rather than telling us, “We the People” and Congress, what is the reason why there needs to be US involvement in a Syrian civil war. Of course this is heinous, but there are many things that occur in this world that are heinous that the US does nothing about. Sec. of State John Kerry had stated regarding Syria, ‘Not the Time to Be Silent Spectators to Slaughter’.  So let’s understand this, the first 100,000 people killed in Syria, that was OK to be a silent spectator, but now that chemical weapons were used, that is different? Really?

Barack Obama, John Kerry, et all have still failed to explain how this was against US national security.

I still do not know how Obama could draw a “red line” yet have nothing in place so if one went over that line, retaliation would occur. You don’t make such claims and ultimatums if you have butkis. This rodeo clown is so used to playing politics with his rhetoric against the GOP, that he has no concept how to act as a leader on world events. Instead, he folded like a house of cards and showed he has zero leadership skills.

These are some of the hard-to-stomach images that the Obama administration has shown a select group of senators in closed-door briefings to make the case that a limited military attack on Syria is justified.

CNN was the first to obtain the 13 different videos seen by members of the Senate Intelligence Committee that depict the gruesome scene of an chemical weapons attack in Syria on August 21. The administration told senators that their authenticity was verified by the intelligence community.

The attack, allegedly carried out by Syrian forces under President Bashar al-Assad, has touched off the most critical foreign policy question since the uprising began in 2011: Is a military response merited?

Video Warning – Disturbing in nature

As the anniversary of 9-11 is nearly upon us and the one year anniversary of the Benghazi terror attack, Obama’s greatest obstacle is how does he justify attacking Assad that will benefit the Al-Qaeda infested Syrian government opposition, when we have supposedly been at war with these terrorists for 12 years? Sorry, but how does the United States act in any military fashion that would aid Al-Qaeda?
