Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Calls Charges Against 6 Baltimore Police Officers in the Death of Freddie Gray … “It’s a Miscarriage of Justice”

Breitbart.com:

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (D) declared the charges brought against six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray “George Zimmerman and the Duke Lacrosse case all over again” and said “these cops are political prisoners,” offered up as human sacrifices, thrown like red meat to an angry mob” on Friday’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on the Fox News Channel.

Clarke said of the charges, “it’s a miscarriage of justice. This neophyte prosecutor stood up there and made a political statement, Neil, and I say that because she’s chanting or voicing some of the chants from this angry mob. Her job is to tune that out. She said, I hear the voices. She’s not supposed to hear anything as she reviews this case that is not consistent with the rule of law and our system of justice. Look, I’m an experienced and a veteran homicide detective. I’ve had — I’ve participated in charging conferences. There is no way I have ever gotten a criminal charge within 24 hours after taking over all the reports and evidence to a prosecutor. A prosecutor who is thorough needs several days to sift through hundreds of pages of reports. They usually want to interview some of the witnesses themselves, in person, and they have to sift through all of the evidence, piece by piece, and they have to wait for some of the forensics evidence to conclude, to come back and that’s why I say on a minimum, three to four days. She just got this case yesterday. This is political activism. She’ll never prove this beyond a reasonable doubt, and I’m not going to silently stand by and watch my brother officers, offered up as human sacrifices, thrown like red meat to an angry mob, just to appease this angry mob.” And that “she rushed this thing through.”

Six Police Officers Charged in Death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, MD

SIX BALTIMORE POLICE OFFICERS CHARGES IN THE DEATH OF FREDDIE GRAY.

Six police officers, Officer Caesar Goodson Jr., Officer William Porter, Lt. Brian Rice, Sgt. Alicia White, Officer Edward Nero and Officer Garrett Miller have been charged in the death of Freddie Brown. So was this a political arrest or a criminal one? Was this done to appease the mob? As reported at CBS Baltimore, cheers erupted as City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby after she announced that the charges were brought against the police officers. The charges against the officers range from second degree depraved murder for the driver of the van to manslaughter to misconduct in office to false imprisonment.

  2. Officer William Porter, 25, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
  3. Lt. Brian Rice, 41, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
  4. Sgt. Alicia White, 30, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
  5. Officer Edward Nero, 29, was charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
  6. Officer Garrett Miller, 26, was charged with second-degree assault, misconduct in office and false imprisonment.

The six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray – who died after being injured in police custody – have been charged criminally, State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced Friday.

Mosby’s announcement on the steps of the War Memorial Building was greeted with cheers and applause. Mosby said she told Gray’s family that “no one is above the law and I would pursue justice upon their behalf.”

The city was gearing up for another round of demonstrations after the announcement. Baltimore City and Maryland state offices granted workers in the city liberal leave early Friday afternoon.

After the charges were announced, Desmond Taylor, 29, shouted in jubilee in front of the War Memorial Building.

“I did not expect this, but I prayed for it,” he said. “This day means that your actions bring consequences in Baltimore City.”

Prisoner in Van Says Freddie Gray “Was Intentionally Tried to Injure Himself” and “Banging Against the Walls” of the Vehicle

EVEN IF TRUE, THERE IS NO WAY THE MOB IS GOING TO BELIEVE THAT FREDDIE GRAY INJURED HIMSELF, NOT A CHANCE …

The Washington Post is reporting that a prisoner who was being transported in the same van as Freddie Gray said, he could hear Gray banging against the walls of the police vehicle and the individual believed that he (Freddie Gray) “was intentionally trying to injure himself.” The 25 year old Freddie Gray was found unconscious in the police van when it arrived at a police station on April 12, having suffered a spinal injury and died a week later. Gray’s death touched off protests in Baltimore, Maryland and was used as the justification for violence, looting and rioting following his funeral. We are also learning this morning that there will be no complete, official police report forthcoming in Baltimore on Friday regarding the death of Freddie Gray.

The truth of the matter is that many things could have happened. Its hard to know how one would know someone was intentionally trying to hurt oneself like this when you could only hear and not see. Could some one sever ones spine by knocking their head against the way of a van? Seems hard to believe. Could one who was in restraints sever their spine if they had a seizure?

VIDEO: Megyn Kelley, The Kelley File – Did Freddie Gray Tried to Injure Himself in Police Custody

A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray “banging against the walls” of the vehicle and believed that he “was intentionally trying to injure himself,” according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post.

The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmate’s safety.

The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoner’s version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.

Gray was found unconscious in the wagon when it arrived at a police station on April 12. The 25-year-old had suffered a spinal injury and died a week later, touching off waves of protests across Baltimore, capped by a riot Monday in which hundreds of angry residents torched buildings, looted stores and pelted police officers with rocks.

For a fantastic account and summary of the death of Freddie Gray, read the post at Legal Insurrection.

This new narrative questions the claims of police brutality that the protesters of Baltimore have jumped on as well as the MSM, Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama. Is this scenario plausible? One thing is for certain, there is no way that the protesters in Baltimore or around the country who already believe this is a case of police brutality will care.

In it, a prisoner who was in the same police van as Gray said he could hear Gray “banging against the walls” of the van and thought Gray “was intentionally trying to injure himself.”

The prisoner was separated from Gray by a metal barrier and could not see him, police have said.

The account is similar to what Batts told CNN affiliate WJZ last week, when the police commissioner said another suspect in the van heard Gray “thrashing about.”

But Gray family attorney Jason Downs disputes the notion that Gray caused his own fatal injury.

“We disagree with any implication that Freddie Gray severed his own spinal cord,” Downs told the Post. “We question the accuracy of the police reports we’ve seen thus far, including the police report that says Mr. Gray was arrested without force or incident.”

An attorney for the local police union has said those moments in the van are critical to understanding the case.

“Our position is something happened in that van,” police union attorney Michael Davey said. “We just don’t know what.”

18 Al-Qaeda Islamic Extremists Arrested in Italy for 2010 Vatican Terror Plot

ARRESTS MADE IN ITALY FOR 2010 SUICIDE BOMB PLOT AGAINST THE VATICAN AND POPE BENEDICT XVI …

As reported at Reuters, Italian security forces have arrested 18 radical Islamic extremists Friday who prosecutors said were behind a failed 2010 plot to attack the Vatican as well as a bombing at a Pakistan market that killed more than 100 a year earlier. Prosecutor Mauro Mura stated in Cagliari, Sardinia that wiretaps indicated the suspected terrorists, including two former bodyguards for Usama bin Laden, planned a bomb attack at the Vatican and went as far as to send a suicide bomber to Rome.

Italian police were arresting 18 people on Friday suspected of belonging to an armed group linked to al Qaeda who were plotting attacks on the Vatican as well as in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Some of the suspects, who are all Pakistanis and Afghans, were arrested in early morning raids across Italy. Police burst into the home of the group’s suspected spiritual leader, in the northern city of Bergamo, a video released by them showed.

Though the suspects were plotting attacks mainly in their native countries, phone taps suggest the Vatican was also a target, said Mauro Mura, chief prosecutor of the Sardinian city of Cagliari, where the group based its headquarters.

In the tapped conversations, the suspects discuss “a big jihad in Italy,” added Mario Carta, head of the police unit on the case. They reference the word “baba”, which could mean the pope, Carta said.

“We don’t have proof, we have strong suspicion,” that the Holy See was a possible target, he added.

Italy: Al-Qaeda cell planned suicide attack on Vatican:

Raids were carried out simultaneously in seven different Italian provinces with arrest warrants for 18 suspected Islamic extremists following a lengthy investigation in Cagliari, capital of the Italian island Sardinia.

Authorities uncovered plans for a suicide bomber plot against the Vatican in 2010, when Pope Benedict XVI was pontiff. Evidence includes a “martyr’s vow” from a would-be suicide bomber threatening to strike against the Vatican, the spiritual focal point for the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics.

Mario Carta, an official from the counter-terror police force that carried out the raids, called it “one of the most important operations ever carried out in Italy.” Police said the operation targeted an “extremely well-structured terror network” based in Sardinia since at least 2005 that was made up of Pakistani and Afghan nationals.

Nine people have been arrested, and two are still at large in Italy. Seven of the suspects are believed to be in Pakistan, Carta said.
