Aruban Justice … 6 Years Is the Punishment in Aruba for the Mutilation and Burning of Pit Bulls Body

Justice is supposed to be blind, not foolish.Aruba_OneSadIsland

One really begins to wonder when they see such justice handed out for such heinous crimes whether it makes any difference whether Aruban officials ever bother to prosecute or find anyone guilty of a crime. However, the mind set of the OM in prosecuting this case speaks volumes of a more media covered case in Aruba, Natalee Holloway.

SIX YEARS FOR MUTILATING AND BURNING A BODY!!!

In the court of appeals, the joint Court of Justice convicted Sijgmund Heyliger (37) to six years imprisonment.  Heyliger appealed his five-year imprisonment verdict for his involvement in the mutilation and burning of Dinesh Djoegan’s body, too high.  The attorney general has demanded 7 years. (Amigoe)

This is what is considered justice on One Happy Island. Does the word “justice” even appear in the Aruban dictionary? Let alone the fact that the OM asked for too short a period of time, how is it that the judge consistently gave lesser sentences? What also happened to the possibility that Pit Bull was forced to take the drugs?

The family was informed that Pitbull was not murdered, but had an amount of cocaine in his body.  There is a possibility that he was forced to take the drug.  The OM is also investigating the relation between the cause of death and the fact that Djoegan was found burned and crucified. (SM via Amigoe)

During the investigation the family of Dinesh Djoegan (Pit Bull) demanded why it was taking so long and that they “just needed to wait”. I guess they will now be asking why people who did such a heinous crime only got six years.

Aruba’s Continued Nightmare Courtesy of Joran Van der Sloot … Joran Prospers with Book While Arubans Struggles

You  will be able to find Joran Van der Sloot’s book, ‘The Case of Natalee JVDS_BookHolloway,’  in the fiction section of your local book store. Nearly two years later and the lies still come.  While Arubans and the Aruban economy has struggled and declined since Natalee’s disappearance, Joran Van der Sloot looks to make money at the expense of a missing and presumed dead American, Alabama teen. With the two year anniversary of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance coming up, Joran Van der Sloot looks to once again make this story front page material for media consumption. Who benefits Aruba and who sufferers?

Joran Van der Sloot continues to spread his less than credible version of events and even shows his sick, disturbed and hate for an individual that he is accused of being responsible for her disappearance. This is the mark of a socio-path, always having to spew hatred toward another.

He admits that he didn’t even know her name and had preferred making love to her friend Ruth, who was much prettier.

Natalee Holloway disappears, Joran Van der Sloot was the last known person with her, he lied through his teeth during interrogations and now almost two years later he makes a swipe  like this at Natalee and her family. What a disturbed individual. Aruba, you had and have a choice. Joran Van der Sloot is the face of Aruba. No amount of marketing is going to change this, only Justice for Natalee will.

Aruba, this is what you chose to support. You protest “chollers” but not the people who are most responsible for giving Aruba a black eye. When will you make a stand and say enough is enough?

Amigoe, The answer on what had happened must be somewhere

ORANJESTAD/AMSTERDAM – In the book ‘The Case of Natalee Holloway’ that was published today in the Netherlands , Joran van der Sloot admits that he has probably committed the biggest mistake of his life by leaving the American girl on the beach by herself.

He has also lied about that night on the beach to the police and realizes that due to his falsehood, he has lost his credibility.   He knows that he is still the main suspect in the case and understood that the OM in Aruba will soon, maybe next month already decide whether they will proceed to prosecution.   Neither the Dutch- and Aruban police, nor the FBI has found a clue on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.   There is still an active team of Dutch police on the island.     The book has 351 pages and is written by and for journalist Zvezdana Vukojevic, who works for Nieuwe Revu.   She has spent some time in Aruba with Joran van der Sloot to visit all the locations that are of importance.   Joran van der Sloot told her about his life before he met Natalee, his time in prison and the police interrogations.

Aruba: More on the Namdar Bribery Scandal

More on the Aruba/Namdar bribery scandal … What a tangled web that always comes back to Aruban tourism at all cost no matter what the price. Ethics be damned, its all about the tourism. So what does it take to get a contract in Aruba?

Amigoe: I was introduced to Effy Namdar

ORANJESTAD – Tourism-minister Edison Briesen says that he had an encounter with Effy Namdar on August 21st, 2006.  Royal Caribbean International arranged the introduction.  The cruise company wanted an agreement between Aruba and Namdar for the development of the harbour, said Briesen in a press conference yesterday.

He also admits that he had contact with Michael Williams till September 2003.  The alleged bribery letter was addressed to Williams.  “The contact disintegrated due to problems with his water sport business and an incident with Minister Booshi Wever.”

However, Amigoe was allowed access to the documents last week, from which it appears that Briesen still corresponded with Williams up till and including December 13th, 2004.

Aruba: Hypocrites … MEP & Oduber call for Call for Boycott of Diario

Isn’t this priceless? The very people who have whined about a tourism boycott of the Aruban island are calling for a commercial boycott of an Aruban business. Aruban officials and their tourism boards have actively campaigned against the notion of a boycott by American tourists against Aruba in response for the handling of the Natalee Holloway case. Now MEP and their leader Nelson Oduber are calling for a boycott against Jossy Mansur and the Diario newspaper.

You can’t have it both ways folks. Not too hypocritical now are we? Complain when it hurts your economic interests and then call for boycotts when you wish to silence your critics. Democracy alive and well on “One Happy Island”.

Amigoe, April 4, 2007:  Diario turns to Queen

ORANJESTAD – In an open letter, staff and management of the morning paper Diario have asked the Queen’s attention for the commercial boycott called by the MEP and her leader, Prime Minister Nelson Oduber.

MEP demanded the owner and also director and chief editor Jossy Mansur to publicly apologize to MEP and premier Oduber for all the articles he has published with the intention to damage the reputation of the government and MEP.   Mansur has till last Monday to do this, otherwise, the MEP will announce a boycott against Diario.

Since Mansur ignored MEP’s ultimatum, the party decided on a total boycott of the newspaper.   No information must be given to Diario.   MEP-member had to cancel their subscription as per immediate..   They are also not allowed to buy the paper separately.   They cannot place ads in the Diario.

That’s the reason for Diario’s letter to the Queen.   He expressed his concern in this letter and asks the Queen to ‘safeguard our constitutional rights’.

RED summons Hirsch Ballin after bribery attempt Namdar in Aruba

In Aruba, the bribery case of H.J Namdar is getting rather interesting. Recently, RED, has been like a one party wrecking crew going after MEP and the Aruban governments improprieties. One wonders how far this investigation will go.

Amigoe; April 4, 2007: RED summons Hirsch Ballin after bribery attempt Namdar

ORANJESTAD – Rudy Lampe (RED) wants an international investigation in the Namdar case.   On behalf of his party, he sent a letter to the Dutch Justice-minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin (CDA) on April 2nd, with the request to also involve the United States in this investigation.   Lampe has sent the US consulate-general Robert Sorenson a copy of the letter.

He wrote in his letter that several MEP-ministers were mentioned in the letter of Namdar, including the name of former minister Glenbert Croes of OLA and former MEP-minister and currently the governor of Aruba.   In his letter, Lampe points out article 43 of the Statute.   He concludes his letter with the hope that this case will be investigated thoroughly.

Glenbert Croes said that only Michael Williams was aware of the content of Namdar’s letter and that none of the names mentioned in the letter were involved with the case, neither those of Ivan Strick (FOL) and Gerrit Schotte (ex-MPK and now MAN).

On Friday and Saturday William was interrogated for hours at the police station in Noord.     His lawyer Duineveld said that he gave his view on the case.   The police are especially interested in documentation on this case.   According to unconfirmed reports, William has more compromising correspondence.     He told the police that the letter he has published has nothing to do with the case in Curacao, where also government people had   contact with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and with Namdar, but those contacts are from last year November and not from before 2004, the year that surfaced in the letter of H.J. Namdar.
