I am Waiting for This Honor Myself

When people ask, “What shall it be Red, a medal or a monument for your award for any accomplishment”?

I will just tell them I wish to be rewarded in the same manner as Ireland’s Finance Minister, Brian Cowen.

There’s an honor I can live with; Red’s Irish Ale. Just one pint; you not only become joyful, but opinionated as well.

Chalk Another One Up For The Good Guy’s

Add another one to the list of terrorist that will no longer pose a threat to anyone. Haitham al-Yemeni meets his demise on the Afghan-Pakistani border.

A senior al Qaeda operative was killed by a missile fired from a CIA Predator aircraft on the Pakistani side of the remote area near the Afghan border earlier this week, U.S. intelligence officials told ABC News.

Haitham al-Yemeni, a native of Yemen known for his bomb-making skills, had been tracked for some time in the hope that he would help lead the United States to al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, intelligence officials said. But with the recent capture in northwest Pakistan of Abu Faraj al-Libbi, thought to be al Qaeda’s No. 3 man, officials worried al-Yemeni would soon go into hiding, and decided to take action.

Al-Yemeni was in line to replace al-Libbi, intelligence analysts said.

Let me be one to say, NOT ANY MORE HE WON’T.

According to Pakistan they were denying the reports of Al-Yemeni’s death near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border due to the political problems that it would crate for President Pervez Musharraf.

See also Fox News

Now take a look at how CNN feels the need to NEGATIVELY report on this same story. This network wonders why its viewership is nil.

There had been hope he might lead authorities to Osama bin Laden or other top al Qaeda leaders, the sources said.

One of the sources who spoke with CNN disputed al-Yemeni’s importance, saying as recently as last month, he did not occupy that high of a level in al Qaeda.

“…Though I suppose you can’t rule it out entirely,” the source added.

What was your unidentified source CNN? An al Qaeda operative? To add insult to injury upon watching CNN today discussing this event with a presumed expert it was said and I summarize, “Killing al-Yemeni would not have made that much a difference as he was not high on any watch list and also the killing of any terrorist individuals would not matter as al-Qaeda now exists it over 60 countries.”

So let me understand that the killing of any terrorists is not going to make a difference in the war on terror? The death or capture of Bin Laden, AL-Zarqawi, Al-Libbi or al-Yemeni will not make a difference? It certainly couldn’t hurt CNN that’s for sure.

As just an aside, when are we going to use these Predator aircraft on the US/Mexican border?

Violence in Uzbekistan (Part II)

More from the aftermath of the violence that took place yesterday in Uzbekistan. As reported by the AP, thousands of Uzbeks fled for the border Saturday of neighboring Kyrgyzstan, seeking asylum.

but hundreds angrily returned to the square where police fired on demonstrators to put down an uprising against country’s authoritarian U.S.-allied leader. A human rights monitor said about 200 people were killed.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov said 10 government troops and “many more” protesters were killed but refused to be more specific. He spoke at a news conference in the capital Tashkent a day after the unprecedented clashes in his tightly controlled country, which he has led since before the 1991 Soviet collapse.

Another witness who declined to be named said “many, many dead bodies” were stacked up by a school near the square. The city’s hospital was cordoned off and officials could not be reached for casualty figures.

For full and complete phenomenal coverage on the event in Uzbekistan, go to the Gateway Pundit. He is all over the story complete with more info, links video and pictures. One of the masters of World events along with Siberian Light, Registan and Publius Pundit. These guys are all must reads for world events.

Update: The Washington Post is also reporting:

Scores of civilians were killed when Uzbek troops opened fire on protesters, some of them armed, in the eastern city of Andijon on Friday, human rights groups and witnesses said. The president of the Central Asian republic said Saturday that the use of force was necessary to quell unrest that he called the work of “criminals” and “Islamic radicals.”

The protests spread Saturday to the city of Ilyichevsk, 20 miles southeast of Andijon and on the border with Kyrgyzstan. Thousands of Uzbeks have streamed to the area, demanding access to the neighboring country. About 500 broke through a closed border.

“They torched a car belonging to a policeman and pushed a border guard’s car into the canal and demanded to be allowed to pass through unhindered” into Kyrgyzstan, a Kyrgyz police official, Ravshan Abdukarimov, told the Reuters news service.

The violence was triggered by the prosecution of 23 prominent businessmen in Andijon on charges of religious extremism, part of a wider government crackdown on all forms of Islam not sanctioned by the state in this largely Muslim country. The businessmen are reported to be followers of Akram Yuldashev, an Islamic dissident who was sentenced to 17 years in prison in 1999 on charges that he called for the overthrow of the government.

100 Greatest Americans; Is This a Sick Joke?

The Discovery Channel and interactive partner America Online today unveiled the list of the top 100 nominees for Top 100 Greatest Americans. I will agree with out buddy at The 1754 Blog that brought this list to my attention, WHAT THE F#%K.

Take a look at some of these nominees. I am trying to figure out whether this is supposed to be serious, taken as a bad joke or do people actually thing that some of the ones mentioned are actually relevant? Lets just pull out a choice few.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Was it his teaching children in Kindergarten Cop that put him over the top?

Barack Obama: WHAT??? I’m going to have to agree with the 1754 Blog, what in the hell has this man done? TOP 100 greatest American? Any cop on the street is a better American than this guy. Talk about pandering.

Christopher Reeve: Because a rich actor who made Superman movies fell off a horse and became paralyzed this made him a great American? Let’s face it folks, does any one really think Mr Reeves would have devoted any time to the spinal injury cause if it did not happen to him? I am sure he was probable a nice guy, God rest his soul, but top 100?

Ellen DeGeneres: Maybe they got this confused with the Top 100 Lesbians who were funny at one point and decided to just create a social platform instead of being a comic.

Michael Moore: Nothing need be said

Bill & Hillary Clinton: Is this a sick joke? What exactly did or have they done?

Now the above are supposed to be Top 100 Greatest Americans. I am sure that the readers of Scared Monkeys can add to this list of better and more qualified, deserving candidates.

UPDATE: And I thought the Discovery Channel was supposed to edumacate us, not pick list of the most popular current people of today? Hey Discovery Channel there is a world of influential great Americans that gave birth to this great Country of our. There are people that risked their lives and fought and died for this great nation. Most every cop, fireman and individual that volunteers for military service is a better American than many that you have on this list. This list resembles an MTV list than it does the Discovery Channel, sad.

Wendy’s Chili “Mystery Finger” Finds An Owner

The mystery is over as to who’s finger it was that showed up in Ms Ayala’s Wendy’s Chili last month. Police have tracked the finger to an acquaintance of the husband of Mrs Ayala.

The discovery of the finger’s owner marks a significant break in a case that has confounded authorities for nearly two months, ever since Anna Ayala claimed she bit down on the well-manicured, 1 1/2-inch finger in a mouthful of her steamy chili.

Davis said the Nevada man, whose name was not released, is cooperating. The police chief would not say if the man was in on the alleged hoax.

Police believe the man gave the finger fragment to Ayala’s husband, Jaime Plascencia, who was arrested this month on identity-theft charges unrelated to the Wendy’s case.

Maybe Wendy’s needs to do a back ground check on the patrons that enter their restaurant first? However, the mystery of the owner of the finger has been solved.
