A-Rod Admits Steroid Use … More so Regrets He Got Caught … Now Midel Tejada in Trouble with Feds

So “A-Roid” admits that he took performance enhancing drugs in an attempt to justify the ridiculous contract he signed with Texas Rangers. Joe Torre was right … he really is “A-Fraud”.

Alex “A-Roid” Rodriguez admitted his use of performance enhancing drugs in an exclusive interview with Peter Gammons and ESPN. Rodriguez’s admission was that he used performance enhancing drugs when he came to the Texas Rangers because he felt pressure to perform and it was a different culture.

His voice shaking at times, Alex Rodriguez met head-on allegations that he tested positive for steroids six years ago, telling ESPN on Monday that he did take performance-enhancing drugs while playing for the Texas Rangers during a three-year period beginning in 2001.

“When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure. I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me and I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day,” Rodriguez told ESPN’s Peter Gammons in an exclusive interview in Miami Beach, Fla.

Honestly, having been outed A-Rod had no choice but to throw himself at the mercy of the court … in this case the court of baseball fan public opinion. He had to make an apology and sound sincere, he really had no choice in the matter. Was it the right thing to do, yes … should we believe him … who knows. It’s just another sad day for MLB.

One thing is for certain, any thought that MLB or baseball fans had that a new clean and untainted HR king would pass Barry Bonds is out the window. The thought was that Barry “Balco” Bonds would be surpassed by a clean ball player worthy of the honor of HR King. It would appear that Hammering Hank Aaron will be the real HR King forever. According to the numbers below, HR and slugging production was much higher during his Texas years, go figure.

Tale Of The Tape

Alex Rodriguez came clean about taking performance-enhancing drugs during a three-year period beginning in 2001. Here’s a look at A-Rod’s numbers during that time compared to the rest of his major league career:

 ’01-03 Other 10 Seasons

Games/season 161.7 148.4
Batting avg. .305 .309
Homers/season 52.0 39.2
Slugging .615 .574

Interestingly enough A-Rod says he is glad that this is out (hardly), although he states “when you take this gorilla and this monkey off your back, you realize that honesty is the only way.” The fact of the matter is that the New York Yankees paid A-Fraud a premium contract not just because he was a good player, but because they put a value on him bringing back the HR crown to the Bronx. That value is forever gone after the admission of steroids and performance enhancing drugs.

The dominos are beginning to fall … A-Rod admitting performance enhancing drug use … and now Miguel Tejada expected to plead guilty to false statements to Congressional investigators.

It’s only  a question of time before Roger Clemens is indicted on perjury when he testified before Congress that he had never used banned substances and of course the Barry Bonds and BALCO fiasco.

Yep… used to be they just caffeinated heavily, and used “greenies” & speed to keep em going 160+ games a summer.

Why do they seem to come down harder on pro baseball players with all this than other sports…? (Well… WWE Vince McMahon in particular)… but I’m certain the use of these banned substances starts at a young age in many sports, or in the minor leagues in some instances.

Maybe in all his spare time, A-Roids can get back to studying the Kabbalah & hooking up again with Madonna.

      Pfffff!

You’re talking about A-Hole and A-Ho, both with the moral compass of an alley cat. Gotta be Obamunists!

I don’t give a hoot about any professional athlete … but the sports world seems to be corroding along with the rest of our culture.

Then again, look how poorly these people are paid; how can you expect them to act decently?

Look at their rookie pictures. A few year later they have 90 pounds of muscle on them. Do not need a steroid test to spot cheats.
Makes a average player a superstar.
Why do they do it? They are rewarded for their trouble. $$$$ Lyle Alzado, and a lot wrestlers died young from taking drugs.

#7- Greg—you are right…why do they do it?

      $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Pure & simple. It’s going to cost A-Rod. Another thing, what is it with MLB players lately and their underpar skills as Journalists? Why are they all writing books so early in their careers? i.e., Manny/RedSox…Are you serious? He is dissing the team now? Aren’t you supposed to be a legend first or retired from the Sport before you start penning your Autobiography? Justin Pedrioa is going to write one now? OK, Justin- Love you—but you have been in the league, what a couple of years and you are already cashing in on a book? It’s out of control and all in the name of money.
