Welcome to Chicago politics, Its about to get really ugly in the high stakes game of Texas Holdem, “Chicago style”. Ed Genson, the attorney for embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has asked the legislative panel considering impeachment that they issue subpoenas to those individuals connected with the Blagogate, pay-for-play scandal, including Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, Obama friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett, and Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.).
An attorney for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) has asked the legislative panel considering impeachment of the governor to subpoena more than a dozen witnesses, including President-elect Barack Obama’s incoming chief of staff.
Ed Genson wants the committee to subpoena Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), longtime Obama friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett, and Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), said state Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie.
Currie, the head of the committee, said she did not yet know what the committee’s response to Genson’s request would be. Its next meeting is scheduled for Monday, she added.
Currie noted that the U.S. attorney’s office has already denied the panel’s request to interview a list of people named in the criminal complaint against Blagojevich. U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald said earlier this week that lawmakers’ interviews of current or former members of Blagojevich’s staff might jeopardize his criminal investigation.

President-elect Barack Obama and two of his top aides met last week with federal investigators building a corruption case against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, accused of trying to swap Obama’s Senate seat for cash or a lucrative job.
The interviews with Obama, along with incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and adviser Valerie Jarrett, were disclosed Tuesday in an internal report produced for Obama on contacts with Blagojevich. Obama delayed releasing his report until those interviews were completed with U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald’s staff, incoming White House attorney Greg Craig said in the review he wrote for Obama.
As Hot Air aptly puts it, Blagojevich is playing a high stakes game of chicken. And RBO says, cheers, Subpoenas all around! This is going to get messy, messy, messy. The embarrass Obama campaign has begun.

Obama aide talked with governor; no deal discussed
An internal review prepared for Barack Obama found his incoming chief of staff had multiple conversations with the Illinois governor’s office, but said the talks did not involve any deal concerning whom the governor would appoint to replace Obama in the Senate.

The words ‘Corrupt Democrat’ or ‘Corrupt Liberal’ are rarely
used to describe corruption among these folks. ‘Pay for Play’
is a fun term describing the slimy actions these folks practice.
The voting sheep just stand idly by and watch the fun. The
Graybar Hotel should be the place where these corrupt children
must go to play.
If you ask me Blago has fired a shot across the bow, letting those involved know he can and will cause trouble. If his bluff is called, they probably will use these witness (lies or truth?) to say that no, Blago never asked for money. But it’s also a warning.
This could be a gesture of desperation; maybe he’s thinking that the more dirt he seems ready to spread, the better his chances are of a back-room deal, Chicago style. (Not only there, of course.)
But I suspect that things have gone way too far for that.
Or if he does have something … maybe he’s just decided that if he goes down, he’ll take with him everyone that he can, like Captain Ahab in Moby Dick.
If so, prepare for a long, drawn-out fight.
One thing seems likely: those who looked for a brave new era of politics aren’t likely to get it.
The battle lines for 2009 may be drawn already, and the usual disgusting political spectacle looks likely to continue.
At least the spectacle of Princess Caroline being wafted into the New York Senate seat to which she seems to think herself entitled doesn’t appear to be going well. I gather that a lot of the state’s political types are speaking out in anger.
Why don’t they get Paris Hilton to move there from Hollywood? She too is a celebrity … and these days, I guess, that’s what matters in politics … and that’s ALL that matters.
Come to think of it, it’s worth remembering that her last name is Schlossberg … she is, or was, married. But hey, when you want to be a princess, why not use the name of royalty?
She finally condescended to give an interview, in which she raised:
–the name of her father (Kennedy)
–the name of her mother (Kennedy)
–the name of her brother (Kennedy)
–AND, to our great surprise, said that she was a “Kennedy Democrat”!
(She did also acknowledge that her voting record was appalling, and, if I remember, said that she wouldn’t seek the Senatorial seat in a CAMPAIGN if she weren’t appointed … but princesses don’t have to demean themselves in a democracy.)
BTW, I’m still waiting for shows like Saturday Night Live to give us a satire on Princess Caroline, as it did time and again on Sarah Palin. Hmmm … isn’t happening? Don’t suppose there could be media bias, do you? Naahhh….
Citizens’ with a disability as I listen to our governor tell, we the citizens are not given our health care our women right our children rights our home is being take from us. WHY?~ I’m not getting this we the people as citizens just living here and some have attack our governor We thought it was for auctioning off Obama seat but its more then that I have a lot of abuse that our senator Obama has not help us with and I have a lot of questions I would like to ask the new elected president and senator that was ask to help us with crime survivors disability is ptsd just coping and I have a governor that want to help our women and men of this State.
