Missing Benjamin Stanford’s Body Found Near Location of Abandoned Vehicle

There is sad news to report in the search for missing 17 year old Ben Stanford. The BENJAMIN STANFORD1body of Ben Stanford was found Tuesday afternoon. Just last evening on Scared Monkeys radio, Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller was interviewed and discussed the search for Ben Stanford. His  body was found about 1,000 feet from where his vehicle was located last week along Interstate 20.

Rest in peace, Ben Stanford.

Alabama state Sen. Jim Preuitt, has confirmed to FOX News Radio.

“The Alabama Bureau of Investigation informed me they had located Ben, our grandson’s body. Certainly the news was not what we were hoping to hear,” Preuitt said. “He was liked by everyone we knew, a super personality. He was our baby. He was the apple of our eye.” (Fox News)

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Benjamin Stanford. Having kids of my own I was truly hoping for a happy ending to this ordeal. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

This boy was from my town, I know his family, this is so surreal! Noone thinks it happens to them, there has to be a reason why this happened?

    4. Mary on November 14th, 2007 5:46 am

Perhaps Benjamin picked up a hitch hiker,or young people are meeting up with undesirables over the internet.Lets educate our kids. They are not your next door neighbors,or your school mates. You are not able to observe them under normal conditions.

I hope justice comes swift and sever for those responsible for doing this to Ben.

Very sad news indeed. The above article doesn’t make clear if Texas Equusearch found the body, or if someone else did. (Not that it matters.)

One assumes that foul play is involved. In any case, I’m sure all of our hearts go out to the family.

Oh how absolutly horrible….why God why…

    8. Amanda Revarez on November 14th, 2007 2:44 pm

It was said on the local news last night that it was Equusearch that found him. It’s also been asked that people go to the site and donate in order to help other families find their loved ones. In situations like these we have to ask ourselves why this event played out this way and what we can do to prevent this in the future. The news last night said that this case is still being treated as a murder case which means there are still questions that go unanswered. Please, if you know anything tell the police it will remain confidential.

      It was a suicide

    10. casey on November 14th, 2007 7:14 pm

It was just on Fox6 News that his death has been ruled a suicide. If so it is such a waste of a young life full of potential. Just seems strange he would drive all the way to Villa Rica, GA to commit suicide. There has to be more to the story. Either way my prayers are with his family and friends.

My God! Why? You never know why they bail out and leave loved ones behind. Despair is real and it hurts so bad. May your memories of your loved one bring you comfort.

Ben Stanford is a few months younger than my oldest son. I tell him almost everyday that he can relie on me and always tell me everything. I more open to truth than lies and nothing can be as bad to someone than to turn to suicide. You can talk to someone and there is always an answer to your problems. God is always there and he was with Ben when he died. My heart and prayers go out to Bill & Lynn and to Senator & Mrs. Preuitt.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Depression is a deadly disease that can be cronic, like cancer which prolongs the loss of the life of a loved one, or can strike in an instant, like a heart attack. There is no one to blame or anything one can do to change the inevitable.

Our God knows us. He knows our trials and tribulations as well as our joys… he is likened to a Father who is both loving and understanding. He, above all, knows the state of affairs that we all have to live under, as things, in this world, seem to get worse and worse. He also knows that it is the sensitive, loving and caring people that have the hardest time in withstanding under the pressure of an uncaring, cruel world.

May you always remember the good times. The minutes, hours and days that you were blessed with his presense and remember that the choice that he made was made in an instant. If he were able to see past his pain, he would never have caused such suffering.

He, just like any other child, will be watching over you, with concern. And he, just like any other loving son, will be waiting, patiently, for the time when you will be reunited, again.

God bless your family with the strength and compassion, both for Ben and for those that loved him.

I know of this family although, I’m not personally acquainted, but I just don’t believe this was suicide. Apparently the Sheriff of that county does not either. The coroner pronounced it suicide at the site, but one article I read says that is customary if they have no evidence to the contrary. It is subject to change after the autopsy and careful examination of the car and area. It doesn’t make any sense to me that a 17 years old bot from an affluent family would drive 75 miles to kill himself. No sense at all.

    15. PC77 on November 15th, 2007 6:31 pm

It makes total sense because he did not want to do it in his small community where he is well known. At first the coroner on the scene did not think it was suicide until they say the contact wound behind his ear, in his hair. Sometimes people plan their suicide very well. This may be why he spent the night with a friend on Sunday night. No one knows where the gun came from at this point. This is so sad. I cannot imagine how his family is keeping it together. They have had a week from hell.

    16. Patti on November 15th, 2007 7:54 pm

Certainly, if there is any question, it should be fully investigated. There is a gun powder test that can be performed to tell if he had shot a gun, but even if that tests possitive, it doesn’t mean that he shot that gun at that moment.

Either way, suicide or murder, the family is bound to go through a horrific mourning process. There are people that can help. The ones that come to mind are two programs that consist of group therapy for survivors of suicide as well as a program for parents of murdered children.

I hope that the family will find the truth, no matter how painful it must be. And I pray that they will be able to overcome their loss, one day. I know it may take years to heal from the loss of their child, their baby; but it’s important to remember that this family has other children for which they need to be strong and continue to make a life for. May God help them in that regard and give them peace.

I am curious about the suicide theory…If they found his car 8 days before the body then ( I hate to be gross) but, the smell would certainly permeate 1000 ft, and lead them to the body. GSR doesn’t really you anything, you only need to be in the presence of a gun being shot to pick up residue, however if he was shot with a revolver…and this is something I haven’t heard for sure, he would have visible soot on ONE hand, due to the gases coming thru the cylinder gap….this is the reason that no one really believes Vince Foster’s death was a suicide because he had soot on BOTH hands, you only pick it up on one because the positining of the gun protects the other hand.

    18. Nancy W on November 17th, 2007 10:53 pm

My thoughts and prayers go out to this young mans family…

To all the posters who think this was not a suicide… This boys grandfather is State Senator, not only that but the FBI was brought in on the case… Do you think the family / FBI would let this death be announced to the world as a suicide if they did not have prof…I believe there is more to the story that we will never hear..

I really don’t think kids know how much their parents love them…

If you ever think of suicide… please talk to someone first… If you have to – go to the Emergency Room at a hospital and tell them you are having suicidal thoughts and that you need help… There is no cure for suicide, but the symptoms can be treated before it’s to late…

Rest in peace Ben… My God have mercy on your Soul…
