Phil Spector Murder Case … Jury at an Impasse … Hung Jury???

NEWS FLASH: EARTH TO JURIES … CELEBRITIES MURDER PEOPLE TOO.Phil_Spector3

After seven days of deliberation, the jury in the Phil Spector murder case is at an impasse. Not again! Another notable celebrity, this time Phil Spector, about to walk on murder charges because a jury cannot get their act together. Phil Spector is accused of shooting 40 year old Lana Clarkson.  Judge Larry Paul Fidler may instruct the jury to consider lesser charges.

In response, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler sent the jury home for the day, instructing them to return at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Fidler then told attorneys he was considering giving the jury the option of convicting Spector of involuntary manslaughter — a reduced charge from the second-degree murder count the panel is currently weighing.

Fidler ruled earlier that the panel would only have the option of second- degree murder. The judge also rejected a defense request that he declare a mistrial.

Three jurors said they would like more instructions from the court. Others said they do not believe there is anything that can be done to break the impasse.

Must have something to do with the ‘left coast lack of clues’!!!!

WTH? ….jury can’t decide? Look at the facts. Spector invited Lana Clarkson over to his house. She goes, she enters the house she is in the foyer and gets shot in the mouth with a gun. If not for the fact(s) that Spector invited her over, spector was there…with a gun (it was his gun right?) and the gun went off in her mouth killing her……if not for those facts and the roll of Spector in this death there would be no case. Guilty guilty guilty

Nobody wants to convict a celebrity, in California.
The mindset is unbelievable. I wonder how many jurors would want their daughters to go out with Mr. Sphincter?

Did the jurors not hear the testimony of 5 credible women who said P.S. (better yet – P.O.S.) threatened them with a gun???

I haven’t watched much of this trial….but kept up with the hightlights…..I am stunned that the jury is deadlocked……guess if you are a celebrity you CAN get away with murder…no matter what the evidence shows!!

Well at least Lana’s family have a grave to decorate.I know this sounds cruel. But the pros did what he could do and Lana’s family know her fate.In Acuba Lana would just have dissappeared. The Boycott Roll’s On!!!I pray Lana’s family can find forgivness in their harts.I will pray for them.

I didn’t watch all of the trial, but I’m not convinced he’s guilty so I’m not surprised the jury is split.

      Justice for Lana!

I don’t care how many hits he produced! He’s
guilty. Have these people LOST THEIR MINDS?

I think potential Jurors should have
to take aptitude testing before qualifying.

I think LKB did a great job of creating a lot of reasonable doubt. The scientific evidence all points to her holding that gun. The white jacket’s right sleeve would’ve been covered in gun powder residue, blood, etc. I can see why it’ll be hung.
Not liking a person does not make them guilty of murder.
But he is guilty of the worst hairdo ever.

In the 20+ years since I moved to Maryland, I’ve been called to jury duty only once, and that was almost 15 years ago. Even then, I was never put on a jury. I never even made it to voir dire, and neither did most of the other well-educated professional people in attendance. Time and again we were all left standing around the courthouse lobby as everyone else was led into one courtroom or another for jury selection. By contrast, an unemployed back-hoe operator complained to me that he had so far had to serve (thus interfering with his job search) on juries for three trials in less than two weeks — he was then and there selected to serve for a fourth.

After Day 2, the same 8 to 10 of us repeatedly left off panels figured out what was afoot. For some reason, jury duty was being restricted to only the less educated and less affluent among the jury pool. How could this be? On the first day of our two-week service, all potential jurors were asked to fill out a questionaire, classifying themselves according to race, sex, age, marital status, education, occupation, income, and so forth. It would have been very easy to exclude from jury service whatever demographic one wished, and I strongly suspect this is exactly what happened, for whatever reason. I can’t speak for jury selection practices in other jurisdictions or at other times, but this was the case in Anne Arundel County, Maryland in the early to mid-90s. If such practices are widespread, I’m afraid we can expect to see ever more baffling verdicts as time progresses.

      Capt I – nice.

Now ladies I can understand the money/power thing, but I gotta believe these women had some really thick Jager goggles on to sleep with this cat.
Good lord I would think there’s not a Jager bottle large enough to make that mug & hair look good.

      Come on yoyo,

Can you reasonably believe that a women who had never been in that house just went in rummaged around in his cabinets found a gun and just decided to shot herself. Spector then runs out and tells his driver that he just killed someone.

How could anyone have a reasonable doubt.

I agree with Steve…defense lawyers and especially the better ones juror shop looking for idiots they can manipulate. Look at the Winkler case…that was won by the defense even before the trial began…10 women to 2 me and one had even stated she was a victim of domestic violence…think she would ever convict Winkler for murder…no way.

    14. JustMeT on September 20th, 2007 9:31 am

#12 I totally agree, has to be the money.
I couldn’t be paid enough money to sleep with or even step foot in this freaks pad.
I didn’t watch the trial but kept up by reading online due to his ugly mug.
      Justice for Lana!

    15. ayfit on September 20th, 2007 1:11 pm

Trial too drawn out,too many stall tactics,Trial simply lasted too long. Long trials cloud the minds of jurors.Given enough time a good lawyer can confuse a jury. This freak deserves the gas.

      Which one is the girl??

    17. Auntiem on September 22nd, 2007 10:17 am

#13 Mike, I agree, and as she was leaving, with her bag on her shoulder, she stopped at the front door and as a last minute thought shot herself!!! NOT!!! Once again, Mr. Sicko couldn’t take rejection, and as in the past grabbed his gun to threaten his victim, but with age, maybe, his hand got shaky?, and he pulled the trigger. My God, he even admitted to his driver he just shot someone. I’ll tell you one thing, I will NEVER trust Dr. Lee or that other Forensic expert, Baden, who’s wife was an attorney for the Defense and he was a witness for the Defense…WOW, talk about Payola!!!
