Only in America does a convicted for life murderer get awarded a $35K settlement. 34 
year old Lisa Michelle Lambert had accused administrators at the State Correctional Institution at Cambridge Springs of allegedly raping and assaulting her.
In a 1996 lawsuit, Lisa Michelle Lambert, 34, accused administrators at the State Correctional Institution at Cambridge Springs of doing nothing to prevent the assaults. She also alleged that she was videotaped during a strip search.
Lambert alleged that the assaults happened while she was serving her life sentence for the 1991 murder of 16-year-old Laurie Show, a Lancaster high school sophomore. (Philadelphia Daily News)
If the name “Lisa Michelle Lambert” sound familiar it should. It was her stalking case and the murder of 16 year old Laurie Show that gave rise to the anti-stalking laws in Pennsylvania and was portrayed in the TV show in 2000, ”The Stalking of Laurie Show”.
What makes this story more disturbing is that the $35K was nothing more than a nuisance payment to make all of this go away. Two wrongs never make a right. There was obvious wrong doing by guards; however, murder usually trumps assault. The jurors might be told of Lambert’s conviction. Might? What, that she stalked and murdered and innocent girl? As Lisa Michelle Lambert takes college classes offered by BU in Mass prison, Laurie Show is still dead.
Lambert’s lawyer, Angus Love of the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project, called the settlement amount “low.” He said his client was concerned that jurors might be told about her conviction which “could have poisoned the minds for [her] plea for compassion for the sexual assaults she suffered.”
In addition, he said, Lambert did not want to “fan the flames” of the publicity that has surrounded her case for years. She is now taking college classes offered by Boston University in the Massachusetts prison and “wants to put all this behind her,” Love said. (Philly.com)

Does any faint sense of transgression at having murdered another girl impinge on her sensibilities? Or is responsibility for one’s actions limited to the elder generations?

She killed someone, for which she’s serving life in prison.
Someone raped her, for which they will pay thirty-five thousand dollars.
Trial, conviction, and sentence does still mean something under our rule of law.
I’ve read the story of Laurie Show, how terribly sad for Laurie and how deranged Lisa is. Maybe she should take the 35K and start a college scholarhip in Laurie’s name. Hey Lisa, did you ever think what your boyfriend did to Laurie and how you ended her life, you sick, sick creature.

It should be a law that people in prison for murder should not be allowed to benefit financially in any way for any reason. They should be forced to give the money to charity and then see how many law suits they pursue. Bet they wouldn’t be near as interested.

You all should educate yourself before commenting on a case you know nothing about.Laurie wrote her killer’s initials over and over with her own blood. No L or M but TB and BY several times. This case has been called “THE most prosicitorial misconduct in the English speaking world”.After Lisa’s release she was declared innocent but, that makes many high officials guilty.Anyway, I’m so tired of people’s ignorance it’s a shame. There was no hair,fiber,finger or footprint…no evidence placing her at the scene.She deserves not only that small amount of chumpchange but her freedom as well.Being kept in isolation and being repeatedly raped has nothing to do with Laurie’s death.Today one killer walks free,who had been charged with raping Laurie -it never went to court.He had raped several girls yet beat on Lisa. Tabitha the other killer schemes at new appeals.They were both booked all bruised and scratched because Laurie faught with all she had and managed to name her killers even in death with her blood. Tricia, it is *you* who needs to re-read the facts of this case. I have indeed educated myself before making or reading any of the above comments. She was not raped. Her accused ‘rapist’ was out of town on his honeymoon, for God’s sake! (Proven by a Marriage Certificate.) It’s just like OJ…the whole world framed OJ, right? Everyone in the whole state of California framed him just for the hell of it. She should not be allowed to take any courses. Why she is never going to get out perhaps a course in laundry would be more beneficial. She killed a girl over a biyfriend. Being punished for ones crimes should not include rape. There are many facts that support both sides of the lisa lambert argument. what would she even do if she where released? i believe that lisa believes in her innocence. she wants to be absolved of this crime and has fought to do so to no avail. she came damn close though and when she was released she didn’t flee the country or hide from officials when they demanded her return to prison. only lisa, tabitha and lawrence know what really happened that day. it is unfortunate that the people we trust to see that justice is carried out in every facet of an investigation and sentencing are as untrustworthy as the bulk of you claim lisa is. a fair trial it was not, but that didn’t seem to matter.
Listen, as I read the story I figured out that Lisa hates the victim and she exceeded her limits, intended to harm her, weather things got out of control or not, there was a killng, she wanted to bully the victim and gathered those trashes into harming her, then this is the toll that never ends, for life!

First of all I think people who do not know all of the facts, should not comment. True the only people that know what happened all have different stories. Chances are the truth about what happened that day will never come out. The abuse and rape that happened in SCI Cambridge Springs is a fact. Look it up one guard was sentenced to jail time because of it. The only reason that only one guard was prosecuted is because the higher ranking guards who were involved as well needed a fall guy and helped set him up. Those are facts. Now whether you believe she manipulated the male guards or not the fact remains for any prison personel to have sexual contact with an inmate is considered rape. Why you ask its simple when someone is in jail they can not by law give concent to have sex. End of story. Whether we agree or disagree that it is rape in the typical context or not it still is. Now with all of this being said I am not here to argue her guilt or innocence. I will however state that all involved in her prosecution are the ones that caused even more pain to all involved by not following the letter of the law. This allowed Lisa to have her sentenced over turned once and trust me chances are due to that misconduct will eventually end up freeing her for good. That I think will be the biggest injustice of all.

Lisa Michelle Lambert looks as evil as she is, and she should remain in jail and at some time have some remorse. She makes comments with the coldest tone and acts arrogant. She probably consented to sex with the guards in prison for some “privilege” that she still keeps seeking after all she’s done to an innocent girl. Now she will end up an old lady in jail, what a wast of her life, all because she could not control the evil within her……………very sad.
I had met Lisa and knew her for a short time after her release before going back to prison.
The photo and time served iam sure hasnt done her justice she was a very pretty woman.Iam neither judge or jury but I almost was sentenced to five years when attacked by three men.I broke the first mans jaw was charged with assault,the were clean cut fellows Iam not,Thankfully an unknown to me witness came forward on my behalf and proved it was self defense.Like my case the only ones who really know what happened were involved in this tragic murder of a young woman.I can only hope that someday the truth will come out if it was Lisa or someone else.These things effect the familys on both sides,a lost life,a daughter in prison and a child without a mother its very sad.

This girl is ridiculous. Did Laurie Show get money for the rape that she received from Michelle’s boyfriend? No, she received death! First of all, I’ve studied the case a little bit and she tried every legal recourse she could think of to get herself out of this mess but in fact she admitted her role in the whole thing on a episode of 20/20 where she said and I quote, “I said we should just pull her hair!” Not one time did she show any remorse for her role in the crime and the look on her face went from as Barabra Walters reported, from warm watery tears to an icy cold stare when the reporter asked her about Laurie’s final words to her mother just before she died, “MICHELLE did it!” Only knowing one person with the “Michelle” in her name, it was pretty clear the young girl was talking about Lisa. It’s pretty obivous that some of you are more educated about the case than I am but it’s pretty clear that she organized the whole thing and that her friends took it farther than they probably should have but Lisa made absolutely no attempt to stop it when she thought it was going too far and that makes her (acc. to Pennslyvania Law) guilty by association. You can’t fire a gun, and then try to jump in front of the bullet when you realize that it’s about to kill someone. By that time, the bullet has already done its deadly job!

I had met Lisa throuhg a friend the time she was released, and I also had the oppertunity to read the transcript from the tral. and from what I read there was no evidence against Lisa but there was plenty against Lawrence and Tabitha. I honestly feel sorry for Laurie and he family as a mother I could never imagine finding my daughter like that. And my prayers have been with Mrs.Show since the day I heard of this story. And I can say that even though the look on Lisa’s face looks very evil, she is actually a very loving person. She would come to myhouse and run and play with my daughters who were around 3 and 7 and they adored Lisa. They say kids can sence the bad in people but my girls seen only the good in her. Any an all parties associated in a murder should be given the death penalty. I just watched Deadly Women last night with this case on it and they interviewed her mother, which walked in right after the assault took place, her daughter was still responsive and when asked who did this to her, laurie said michelle. also this lawrence guy raped both girls, lisa michells is just the stupid one who chose to stay with him, the fact that he looked at another woman is what drove her insane. i dont know why she is complaining bout the guards raping her, she sure didnt mind it when lawrence did. and for those that defend her, you all should be sitting in jail with her!!
Stewart Dalzell was anything BUT blind-folded (as Justice is traditionally displayed) when he decided to rewrite the law in his own image. In defining reality to suit oneself, he is in the same league with L.M. Lambert, which may explain his bias towards her. Why doesn’t someone ask how 1st and 2nd degree murder convictions can result in identical sentences? Lambert so clouded the issues that no one notes the one defendant who admitted responsibility and expressed remorse. If “the wheels of justice grind exceedingly slow but exceedingly fine,” they had bloody-well better keep on grinding here!
Had I read “Tricia’s” pronouncement on the Lambert case, I would have been certain to include her visions among those produced by whoever define reality to suit themselves. I HAD to acquaint myself with the facts – I taught them in class (in the neighboring county) for some 13 years – and I don’t know from WHENCE Tricia’s fantastic tale arises. And yes, Kimberly, Lambert had even displayed nurturing capabilities before she and Yunkin pushed each other’s BAD buttons, so she could easily rewrap herself in the mantle of a matron … which absolves her of nothing. There is absolutely no way that Lisa Michelle Lambert went to Laurie’s house with only the intention of cutting her hair. On several other occasions she attacked her and caused physical harm to her, so her anger and violence would naturally only escalate. I find it interesting that on 20/20 she said to Barbara Walters she only suggested they “pull” her hair, but in court she claimed she only suggested that they CUT her hair. Much more than hair pulling was intended and that is evident in the elaborate plan orchestrated to lure the mother away from the home. Lisa Michelle and all other parties knew that they were going to seriously injure if not kill Laurie. This girl is a pathological liar, manipulator and criminally insane. The fact that she played with one persons children means nothing. Children are young, and easily tricked. They are afterall CHILDREN. It is clear from the events that lead up to Laurie Shows death, that Lisa Michelle Lambert was an evil, sick, maniacal individual who was destined to cause harm/death to someone and unfortunately for Laurie she was involved with the wrong people.

When I stated Laurie was involved with the wrong people, I in no way meant that to imply any fault on her behalf. She was an innocent girl who was the victim in all of these events and by no means did anything wrong. I only meant she was involved with the wrong people in a sense that young girls do not always make the best choices with whom they chose to hang out with because they are always willing to see the best in people. Laurie Show was a good, decent young girl and girls such as her tend to believe the best about others even when it’s not deserved. That is all.
Lisa Lambert is guilty as HELL. Lambert had the motive to kill. She beat Laurie up before she ordered her killing. In order for Lamberts’ accusations to be true 100 people from the prosecutor’s side would have had to lie and conspire to “frame” Lisa. Also they would have had to take Laurie’s body from the funeral home and put it back in her home where she was killed to plant the “fake” evidence. Anyone who believes anything Lisa Lambert says is a moron who doesn’t have a brain.

Just watched this movie on LMN or lifetime . WHEN will girls learn not to screw with another girls boy. Just like Shanda sharer . THis Laurie made a grave mistake . IF the movie was true to life , laurie KNEW Michelle was psycho over her boyfriend , she KNEW Michelle still wanted him YET she wanted him so much she ignored the warning signs and started seeing him. I feel for Hazel Show, and I can clearly see the conspiracy around the original trial (even a blind monkey without a brain can see it); pretty, popular girl is being victimized by mean old dead girl. And the other witnesses. Then the judge ignores the law in favor of letting the pretty girl do whatever she wants. Now she’s forced to spend her time in mean old smelly prison.

All of that said, rape is never an appropriate punishment. As someone who has had to rebuild my life from that I don’t think it’s part of the ‘justice system’ in this case (no matter how absent the ‘justice’ portion has been in some parts.) As for the payment she received I agree that it should not have gone to her. How about putting it into a college trust for her daughter, or putting it toward the therapy her daughter may end up needing if her friends find out her mother’s an insane murderer? I have followed this case from the beginning and I hope that Lisa Michelle Lambert is NEVER released from prison. So she she was raped.
According to her, she has been raped so many times. Even by a copy who was on his honeymoon at the time. She is 1 in demand broad. If Lambert is ever realeased from prison, I hope she is ordered to live with Hazel Show. Then we will see what true justice is. I also hope she will do another interview with Mike Watkiss. Only a few minutes into an interview with him, she was wanting the cameras turned off. Way to go Mike. Lambert tried to blame the murder on her friend Tabitha, and “Tabby” as she called her will also rot in prison. Good riddence to both of you. I don’t feel sorry for her. The only thing I feel sorry about is that she got $35K for being a bully and a murderer. In any other country she’d be whipped and spat at and no one would care. She deserves every horrible thing she gets and should be a humiliated for it. I find it funny that the (very few) people who are defending Michelle listed a bunch of nonsense and rumors. Gosh, they’re probably the same people who fall for Nigerian scams claiming they’ve one millions.
That aside, this case haunts me. I feel so bad got Hazel to walk into that horrific scene. The last words Laurie was able to say was “Michelle did it” in a whisper voice. But the last thing Laurie did was mouth “I love you” to her mother two times. By this point she could speak anymore and was only able to move her lips. That’s horrific. I’m so glad Hazel was able to tell her daughter she loved her before she died. Actually her exact words “”I love you, your dad loves you and God will take care of you”" — Gives me shivers, imagine having to craddle your blood-soaked child, knowing they were moments away from dying.
I actually know Lambert’s daughter. she is very nice and hates what her mother and father did. shes tried her best to not be like them.

Friends, family, boyfriends, police officers, prison guards etc. To award this woman a settlement is just ludicrous! She says she takes no responsibility in Lauries death, alas she was the only one w/a motive and had repeatedly stalked, harassed and assaulted the poor victim. Bottom line, even if the other two are culpable, they wouldn’t have been there in the first place if it weren’t for this sick, twisted girls obsession and rage. She doesn’t deserve anymore mention or press after all these years. She should be forgotten and locked away.
I agree with everyone who says that Lisa shouldn’t have been given any money…she should have received the death penalty for what she did to Laurie and Laurie’s loved ones.
As to Lisa Michelle being pretty, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. She was never a pretty girl…she had fake blonde hair, fake blue eyes, wore skimpy outfits and too much makeup. She was “sexy” in a slutty way but definitely not gorgeous. There was nothing classy about her. And not to be cliche, but she lacks inner beauty. You have to be ugly on the inside to stalk and murder somebody else.
One poster above stated that maybe Laurie should have stayed away from Lisa’s boyfriend. Honey, with all due respect, please check the facts. Laurie was a pawn in their twisted relationship. Lawrence (Butch) was using her to make Lisa jealous and it worked. I think that maybe Laurie liked him, thought he was cute, but he wound up sexually assaulting her. I’m not sure if a rape kit was ever done but it is obvious that he hurt her because she was afraid of him after that. Laurie didn’t date very often. She wasn’t sexually active. Lisa is the one who became insanely jealous and fixated on Laurie losing her virginity, despite the fact that it wasn’t consensual.
Laurie didn’t do anything to Lisa..even when Lisa confronted her and beat her up, Laurie never fought back. She was a gentle person. And she could have whipped Lisa’s butt easily because she was taller and stronger, but she didn’t want to hurt Lisa because of the baby.
Now you made a valid point about how it isn’t wise to fool around with other people’s partners…I agree with that. Sometimes it can get a person into deep trouble. But Laurie only “dated” Butch for a short time, if it can even be considered dating. Laurie’s mother described it more like a friendship where they would simply hang out and do fun things. That is no reason for Lisa to kill her and ruin the lives of everyone around her.
As to Lisa’s daughter, my heart goes out to her because that poor girl had to grow up knowing that her mother is behind bars for cutting somebody’s throat. Lisa’s parents must be wondering what went wrong…how they could raise a daughter like this.
On the subject of Lambert’s rape allegations…I’ve never believed her stories about anything.
As a survivor of rape/sexual abuse, I tend to believe most people who have been victimized, but nothing she says seems to ever add up. She claimed that on her second or third date with Butch Yunkin, he raped her in his truck. Now that may be possible, because Laurie also said that he did the same to her…maybe Lisa Michelle was being truthful about that. I don’t know why she would continue a relationship with a rapist, but then again, this is Lisa Michelle Lambert we’re talking about.
But her accusations against every other man she came into contact with, including the police? That is all a bunch of bull. She is a pathological liar and continues to play the victim. She will never admit to the terrible things she’s done. If you watch the documentary about Laurie’s murder on Youtube, it is obvious that she is evil. She is calculating and manipulative. There is nothing behind those empty eyes of hers.
But I will admit, she is interesting…I often wonder what breeds a person like this. I read “Overkill” by Lynn Riddle, the true-crime book about Laurie’s murder. There is a chapter on Lisa’s childhood and her upbringing in a supposedly strict Christian home. I was surprised to learn that Lisa was bullied severely as a child. In one instance, an older kid actually broke her arm when she was only 4 years old. She also had to assume adult responsibilities at an early age, especially when her mother developed postpartum depression.
None of this excuses the evil acts she committed against Laurie Show, but it does make you take a deeper look at how she possibly came to be this way. Maybe a lack of guidance/attention from her parents? Being bullied so badly and so often that she became a bully herself? Low self-esteem and having no real direction in life? That type of violence stems from serious pent-up rage. Sadly, if she hadn’t killed Laurie, she would most likely have killed somebody else anyway.
There is no doubt, she is scum and should never see the light of day. But at the same time, this is such a compelling case because it seems like she came from a decent family but something went horribly wrong. Maybe there was some sort of dysfunction or abuse that no one in her family will admit to. Of course, many people have terrible childhoods but they don’t turn out to be cold-blooded killers. Still, everyone is different.
Lisa is actually quite intelligent based on what I’ve read and seen in her interviews…too bad she used it to harm others instead of doing good.
Also, it says in the book “Overkill” that Lisa started showing signs of being troubled in her early teens. Lots of kids act out but it seems that she needed help from a therapist or something…she stole money and valuable items from her parents, left home at the age of 15, etc.
Her mother Judy had bouts of depression and Lisa claimed that she too suffered from it at times and this is part of why she would climb out of her bedroom window and take long walks at night, to clear her mind.
I believe that her parents are in denial about what she did, especially her mother. And I can see why…who would want to accept that their daughter brutally murdered somebody? In the book Judy described Lisa as being a “sweet little girl” when she was a child. If this is indeed true, then what changed as time went by? Many young girls can be difficult and rebellious, but they don’t stalk others and kill them in a fit of rage. So what made her this way? That’s what I (and others, I’m sure) would like to know.
Some people are born evil, I think…not sure why. But others start out as decent human beings and then something happens. Maybe the Lamberts seemed like a perfect family on the outside, but there might have been serious problems within the home. I wanted to leave home at an early age (like Lisa did) and it was because my stepfather was abusive. Not saying that all kids leave home for this reason, but it is possible that Lisa had emotional/mental problems stemming from issues with her parents. She latched onto an abusive relationship with Butch Yunkin…two toxic, destructive people who had no business in a relationship, let alone having a child together.
If poor Laurie Show had been lucky enough to not cross paths with them, she might still be here. I’ve also wondered about Lisa when she went by her middle name, Michelle, and took on this whole new identity…supposedly because Butch wanted her to look like a porn star or Barbie doll. Tabitha Buck said that Lisa told her it was because she wanted to look as white as possible, although she is already Caucasian, so that seems odd. It’s not like brown hair makes one appear to be of a different race and her hair is naturally dark brown. Maybe she just liked the look of blonde hair and blue eyes, hence the bleached hair and contacts. But then again, it was implied in the book that Lisa was prejudiced and her comment about wanting to look even whiter bothered Tabitha, whose boyfriend was of mixed race.
I find Lisa Michelle Lambert to be one repulsive individual but like I said, she is also interesting because of her psychological profile. It is rare for women to commit extremely heinous crimes but noteworthy when they do. Lisa,to me, is like Christa Pike…google her if you don’t know who she is. As evil as Pike is, at least she admits that she committed murder. Lambert simply continues to lie and deny and point the finger at everybody else.
And her interview makes no sense at all. She said that she was pregnant and having problems and wanted things to be “left alone”. I call BS on that, as well as her claims about fearing for the safety of her unborn child. If she was so worried about her baby, she wouldn’t have been stalking and threatening a young girl, beating her up in public places, and eventually killing her. Laurie wasn’t responsible for Lisa’s health or her unborn child…Lisa was, and she made Laurie’s life a living nightmare for no good reason. She showed no mercy or kindness to Laurie, therefore she deserves no mercy herself.
If she wanted things to be “left alone”, she should have left Laurie alone. She is lucky that Laurie was a good person, because some other girl wouldn’t care about the baby…they would have hit her in the belly, pregnant or not, the minute she assaulted them. I would have and I wouldn’t care if she had a miscarriage. That would have taught her that you can’t harass and hurt innocent people. She’s not even with Butch anymore, he’s moved on with his life.

I don’t understand how Rainville could defend Lambert. No one can deny or doubt that Lisa Michelle Lambert was involved in this crime. She played an enormous part in it because she had the motive, which was jealousy.
She is guilty as sin and she will spend the rest of her life behind bars. And for what? I sure hope it was worth it.
I understand that she was only 19 when she killed Laurie Show…she was young, pregnant, and full of hormones.
But there is no excuse. I was once a teenage girl myself. I understand what it is like to fall deeply in love and have a guy see other girls behind my back and to be mad at those girls. I understand the desire to fight with those girls. But in the end, self-control has to win and so does self-respect. I wanted to beat the asses of several girls who were either flirting with my boyfriend or sleeping with him when I was young. But I’m happy to say that I was able to restrain myself from doing something stupid, and I didn’t throw my life away over a guy.
Lisa is no different from Christa Pike or Melinda Loveless or Diane Zamora or Rachel Wade or Karen Severson, all of whom murdered other girls because they perceived a threat to their relationships with men (except Melinda Loveless, who is a lesbian).
As I stated before, Lisa is rotting away in prison. Butch has nothing to do with her from what I understand. She has no freedom or anything…she threw her life away back in 1991 when she killed Laurie. Was it worth it? And I often wonder how she would feel if somebody did that to her daughter. Would she finally understand the pain of Laurie’s parents, especially Hazel? Because I can’t imagine what it was like for Hazel to see her only child covered in blood with her throat ripped open and have that child die from a vicious attack.
And when Hazel recounts how Lisa Michelle stalked Laurie, told Laurie that she’d ruined her life, it’s like really? Are you kidding me?!
Let me see…any problems Lisa had with Laurie stemmed from her refusal to leave Laurie alone, not the other way around. That proves how sick she is. She was stalking Laurie but pretending to be the victim.
I also believe that Lisa was jealous of Laurie way before she stalked and killed her. I read in “Overkill” that Laurie wanted to be a model and if that didn’t work out, she considered beauty school.
When Lisa heard about Laurie wanting to try modeling, she insulted Laurie’s looks. She tried to make Laurie feel bad about herself. Laurie wasn’t a knockout by any means but she was tall and slender. She was much more “natural” than Lisa, who was the queen of peroxide hair and trashiness. I think that Lisa went after Laurie because she wasn’t the type to fight back.
