Another Shooting at Virginia Tech … VA Tech on Lock Down … Police Officer Shot (UPDATE: Two Dead)
Oh no … please do not let this be another VA Tech 2007 shooting massacre.
A shooing has been reported at VA Tech. According to reports, a Virginia Tech police officer has been shot and a possible second victim has been reported at a parking lot near the campus. The suspect is described as a white male wearing gray sweat pants, gray hat with neon green brim, maroon hoodie and backpack.
Authorities are seeking a suspect. A campus-wide alert tells students and faculty to stay inside and lock doors.
A law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case, said initial reports indicated that the shooting occurred following a traffic stop.
The shooting comes the same day as Virginia Tech is appealing a $55,000 fine by the Education Department in connection with the university’s response to a 2007 rampage that left 33 people dead.
Virgina Tech in 2007 is the setting of the worse mass murder in United States history. The horror of that day saw 32 innocent people murdered.

Law enforcement and government officials said that the person found dead in the parking lot is the gunman who killed the officer. At a news conference late this afternoon, neither state police nor university officials would confirm that the dead man was the suspect.
But the authorities said there no longer was a threat on campus and they lifted an afternoon-long lockdown.

Fox Cable reporting the shooter is NOT in custody.
The video on Fox Cable shows additional officers arriving on scene, but far too little activity to make me feel comfortable.
I live local to Va Tech. Local news is reporting they feel the 2nd person found dead is the shooter. Would explain why the lockdown has been lifted with LE declaring they do not believe there is any more threat.
During a press conference on WDBJ7 Tech’s Patrol Commander and the VA State Police Commander would not answer any questions whatsoever about the 2nd person found dead..but we DO know the young officer killed was sitting in his vehicle after a traffic stop and this killer simply walked up and ambushed him. Shooting him in his patrol car. How sad.
Oh…the traffic stop and the shooting were in now way related other than the fact it put this young officer in the wrong place where this killer could get to him. Students who I’ve seen interviewed that witnessed this said the shooter just walked up to the patrol car, shot, and ran off. The body found at the Duck Pond (supposed shooter) is reported to have had a gun with the body. Putting 2 and 2 together…I think it was a murder suicide. This just makes me so sick.

Advocates for gun control will be using this incident to advance their cause. It’s coming.
REMINDER
On April 16, 2007 students inside Norris Hall who complied with the “no gun” rule of the University were defenseless sitting ducks to ONE who was not a respecter of rules … ONE who was not a respecter of life. What is wrong with this picture.

Tamikosmom,
Yup, I was reading comments on Va Tech’s student-run newspaper and you’d think those posting were not students, but officials in a communist country! Many were stating ONLY POLICE and military should be allowed to own a weapon legally. OMG!! Now I see why ONLY the Va Tech area in all of S.W. Virginia voted for Obama. All the rest of the precincts were “red” and not “blue” on the voting maps I saw after the fact.
Tech is a great school, but a haven for ultra-liberal thinkers….90% from out of our conservative area.
So sad for the family of this young officer. I cannot imagine their pain.

If only one or two students who were in Norris Hall had been possession of a concealed weapon on April 16, 2007 when Seung-Hui Cho took aim … a far different outcome would have prevailed.
Those 33 Virginia Tech students never had a chance and … Seung-Hui Cho comprehended perfectly when he planned his mission.
The only way I will accept that the second person found dead was the shooter is if the balistics check out. The will take a little time to confirm.
I still say that the idiots who keep those with concealed carry permits from protecting themselves on campus should be removed from positions of authority.

@9…and you think that having young ppl walking around with guns would help the problem?
Well, just learned today the killer is a student that attends my son’s university/Radford U. It’s unnerving to think that kid lived above the tattoo parlor where my son likes to hang out with friends on the weekends (he doesn’t have any tattoos, but is friends with someone who works there). Even more strange is that my husband and I were in the consignment shop SATURDAY morning….around 10am. Only 2.5 hours before the shooting. Doubtful the kid was still in the area as he’s stolen the SUV from his landlord’s realty business…but too close for comfort for me.
It is sad no one noticed there was anything emotionally or mentally wrong with the young guy. Unlike Cho who EVERYONE said was a basket case and waiting time bomb. You just never know. There’s a crazy in every crowd, and it could be the most normal, looking of the bunch!
Um, meant attended the university.
Tx Grandfather, I am mixed on the carry on campus thing. No doubt students running around armed could cause worse issues. They are young and would more than likely make a poor decision in how to respond to gunfire. On the other hand I think the professors or administrators who have actual knowledge and training, maybe that would work to help if such a situation occurs. Not sure. Your input on that idea would be welcome.
