Political Ad with AZ Rep JD Hayworth in a Guns Cross Hairs … Think this crosses the line?

In 2006 with all the terrible shootings that have occurred, a politician who claims to be responsible and wants your vote thinks this ad is responsible.

JDHcrosshairs

(Harry Mitchell ad: J.D. Hayworth in the cross-hairs)

There is wrong and then there is wrong. Political ads are as negative as ever; however, this one crosses the line beyond words. Democrat Harry Mitchell’s latest ad against Arizona US Rep. J.D. Hayworth depicts Hayworth in the cross-hairs of a rifles scope. WTF is Harry Mitchell thinking? This is not a political paid for ad by some independent action group. This is a paid ad by Mitchell’s campaign. Could you imagine the hue & cry throughout the land if a Republican ever did and ad like this against a Democrat?

The DC sniper gripped the Washington, DC area for months. Charles Carl Roberts just gunned down 5 Amish school girls. Somehow “Dirty” Harry Mitchell thinks it OK to show a picture of his opponent through the scope of a rifle in a political ad. Seems to me that it would be this type of poor judgment that would discredit Mitchell from being elected.

Harry Mitchell, you need to take this ad down and publically apologize to Rep. Hayworth and his family. You should be ashamed of yourself to think that this is acceptable behavior.

Also check out The Espresso Pundit for the full ad.

Nancy Pelosi has seen this despicable ad and should resign immediately over its being run. At least until an investigation can determine what she knew and when she knew it.

In this age of random shootings there is no excuse for this. It is a total and complete outrage.

It is a despicable ad, and Harry Mitchell should muster the moral clarity to have it pulled. Can you imagine the outcry if a Republican had depicted their Democrat opponent behind the crosshairs of a sniper’s rifle in a campaign ad? I guess if you’re a Democrat you get a free pass. Oh well, hopefully, the voters in Arizona will voice their outrage at the polls on election day. We shall see.

Democrats support terrorists and acts of terrorism.

This is tasteless beyond words. When will politicians be held responsible for things like this? Is it intended to be “funny”? I suggest that whoever authorized this (assuming that it was not done by the candidate himself) be immediately fired, and that the candidate make a formal apology and retraction.

No wonder our society is collapsing, when the people who seek to run things engage in such behavior.

turnabout is fair play. sounds good to me, mortella. of course, fair play and sticking to the issues is not something democrats have been good for several years.

If this was passed around in a school, it would be considered a threat on someone’s life and legal action would be taken.

I’m troubled in understanding why a respresentative is allowed to do this and get away with it. Moreover, why they would even do this at all.

Good point KW, I now know why good people do not run for political offices, even though our country and the taxpayers would benifit, we would live in paradise if we have good politicians. Who would want to subject themselves or their families to the likes of these tactics.

I have been miss-informed all of these years, I thought the politicans were adults, they have proven time and time again, they have the mentality of 6 years, is there any thought process given when you put these ads out, another thing what about the idiots who edit and produced this ad.
      Shame on all of you

There is something really wrong when:

      1. Someone thinks up of a concept like this
      2. Actually produces such an ad and gets approval
      3. Puts such hate on TV endorsed by a candidate

These people wonder why there is a shooting a day in schools … lets just look to irresponsible wannabe politicians.

I called Mitchell’s office, his office said they are looking thru a camera lense not a scope.

I guess we are all pretty stupid huh

    14. kw on October 5th, 2006 1:20 pm

The response from Mitchell’s office is about as pitiable as Foley’s rehab stunt. Makes me want to scream, “Puuuulease!”

    15. Maggie on October 5th, 2006 5:00 pm

This is as sick as the movie about shooting the president. 1

    16. Scared Monkeys on October 5th, 2006 5:15 pm

Yea, I just looked through my camera lense and low and behold I did not have cross hairs … funny, looked thru the scope of my 30-06 and it looked quite similar.

    17. Ramlady on October 5th, 2006 7:06 pm

Miss-U. and SM: This is most definitely looking through a hunting or sniper rifle scope, not a camera lens. Instead of making pathetic excuses, they need to pull the ad and apologize. If not, let them suffer the consequences.

    18. GRETA mal on October 25th, 2006 7:56 pm

Ramlady, I’m with you on this one. It is obvious they are looking through a rifle scope !!!
