Obama Police State to Step up Security at Hotels and Malls

Coming soon to a Mall and Hotel near you … over aggressive Obama state security pat down.

The Obama administration is going to step up security as so-called “oft targets” like hotels and malls. One has to wonder just how they are going to accomplish this. Will mall rent-a-cops be allowed to do pat downs and administer naked body scans? Mall security can bearly handle teens, now they are going to handle terrorism? Will there be a terror watch list for hotel check in? Maybe Obama will have Napolitano implement special surveillance cameras at the hotel continental breakfasts?

The United States is stepping up security at “soft targets” like hotels and shopping malls, as well as trains and ports, as it counters the evolving Al-Qaeda threat, a top official said Sunday.

A year after a foiled plot to bomb a US-bound passenger plane, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told CNN’s “State of the Union” program that other places and modes of transportation must now be scrutinized.

“We look at so-called soft targets — the hotels, shopping malls, for example — all of which we have reached out to in the past year and have done a fair amount of training for their own employees,” Napolitano said.

Since an attempted bombing on a packed Saturday night in Times Square in May, New York, for example, has installed hundreds of security cameras as part of a plan to triple the number of cameras to 3,000.

In September, the city activated some 500 new surveillance cameras at its three busiest subway stations — Times Square, Penn Station and Grand Central.

Coming soon, stepped up security at movies theatres, park play grounds and miniature golf.

Just curious, if the government has no issue in ignoring the fourth amendment in searching individuals who have done nothing wrong, why are child predators allowed to much leeway?

Do we still have a Fanatical Muslim Extremist Terrorist problem
in the Country or not? Are we incapable of discerning the ‘bad’
Muslims from the ‘good’ ones or not? The ‘good’ ones would be
in the best position of weeding out the fanatics and madmen within
the ranks. Not much along those lines so far.

We look at so-called soft targets — the hotels, shopping malls, for example — all of which we have reached out to in the past year and have done a fair amount of training for their own employees” Napolitano said.

I’m not quite convinced the activity described here qualifies as an “Obama police state“.

What I don’t know is if a terrible attack were to occur in one of these places, would the government be blamed for not doing enough to protect such targets. Where is the reasonable middle ground here? It isn’t possible to be for and against the same idea; that would be some type of illogical paradox.

BTW, I think a TSA pat-down violates the 4th Amendment, and will be successfully challenged in the courts.

SM: Liberals went moonbat mental over the Patriot Act and the checking of library books.

We have a scenario where we have completely innocent people who arehaving illegal “search & seizure” all because be ar such a pathetic PC society that we cannot 100% profile those that are committing acts of terror. Instead we pat down 3 yo and 90 yo, but because the one potato, two potato, three does not fall on the Muslim, we can’t overly check them.

What kills me is the fact that the govt will reference chatter of thermoses, etc … so they check these things or underwear in a retroactive reponse. However, all of this chatter is from MUSLIMS, oh sorry radical Muslims. So why are we not putting these folks through a prison entrance exam? If the good Muslims don;t like it, then maybe they will grow a set and take on the radicals.

Greg, the point that I am trying to make is that you cannot protect 100% of the places where terrorists are say they are going to attack. You kill them at their root cause. You can’t play catch up and with the track record of some of the cluless comments from Obama’s terror folks … it should frighten all that these clowns are in charge.

Hope & Change is hardly a campaign slogan I want dealing with terrorism. As every one can see, Obama is a dolt when it comes to terrorism. He can’t even say there is a war on terror. His cmapign promise of closing GITMO is not happening any time soon as these dangereous people cant be let out. Obama’s want to try KSM in NYC was a complete failure.

2012 cannot come soo enough to get some adults back in charge and the community organizer can be sent back to the mail room.

Where is the reasonable middle ground here?

Not in patting down law abiding American citizens.

Remember, the USA law allows for checking the papers of those who are not US citizens. Go ahead, ask me to share my documents with you proving I am either a US citizen or legally in the USA. This is much preferable to checking my private areas in an crowded airport.

It is indeed a police state when US citizens are thrown on the floor and dragged away for refusing intensive invasive pat downs at airports. Unfortunately there are Americans who really believe invasive pat downs keep them safe. When is the last time you saw someone in Muslim garb receiving ANY type of security check? They walk right through laughing their heads off as Americans disrobe and either get x-rayed or patted down. Then they pull out their prayer rugs and praise Allah in front of the embarrassed crowd.

As you recall, I said “I think a TSA pat-down violates the 4th Amendment . . . “. I also used “reasonable middle ground” in context of discussing the subject of this post, while asking if a little awareness and training is OK.

I never discussed any type of events that you describe, so your comment has nothing to do with mine.

Homeland Security Could Be an Economic Boon For Local Merchants while devastating Large Shopping Centers.

Homeland Security’s plan to establish radiation invasive X-ray Scans and or Pat Downs at large Shopping Malls and Hotels will drive off consumers to buy from (non-mall merchants, stand alone stores and small strip centers) in their community. Hotels guests that don’t want to be radiated or searched will increasingly stay at small motels. Shopping centers in the U.S. are already dying economically with tenants defaulting, not renewing leases, because they can’t financially make it in this horrific recession. Non-shopping Mall commercial properties in trafficked locations could prove to be a good real estate investment. Most Americans don’t want to be hassled by HLS as a condition to shopping. HLS may drive hotel guest to small hotels and motels benefiting those owners.

Just search the Muslims in the USA!

If they want to impose these measures they could at least recognize the imperfections of the system used at the airports and reduce the number of cases when innocent people have to go through such humiliating process.

Wow; you may have had a little too much coffee before fantasizing and writing your comment.

Actually, your scan idea might make a good science FICTION story; why don’t you get started on that right away (and leave the sane people alone).
