Two-year-old Syler Newton was last seen in his family’s tent at around 12 am Sunday morning, according to the YCSO.  The family was camping at the Beaver Creek Campground, southeast of the Sedona turnoff (SR 179) on Interstate 17.  He was reported missing shortly before 2 am.

2-Year-Old Goes Missing From Family Camp Site. Syler Newton was in the process of being adopted by the family who he was camping with. However, initially the woman that Syler was with referred to herself as his mom. The bio mom is trying to be located by authorities as to the relationship and why the bio mom is not in custody of the bio mom.

Could this be a case of a toddler wandering off in the woods? Of course the question that comes to mind is how does one leave a 2 year old unattended.

If  anyone has any information on Syler’s whereabouts to call 9-1-1 or the Sheriff’s Office at (928) 771-3260.

UPDATE I: Search continues for 2 year old Syler Newton … FBI now involved.

Officials said the woman who reported Syler missing claimed to be the boy’s mother, but it was later discovered she is his adoptive mother and is currently in the process of gaining custody.

Deputies do not believe any of Syler’s biological relatives were in the area at the time of his disappearance. At this time, officials said there are no signs of foul play.

The FBI has also been called in for the case. They are interviewing the biological mother to find out the situation surrounding the boy’s care.

D’Evelyn said more than 50 personnel responded to the scene as part of the coordinated search effort. A DPS helicopter was also called in on Sunday to do flyovers in the surrounding area.

We took our children camping, it was wonderful experiences.

Our children were never beyond a step or two away.

We zipped our tent at night, more to keep critters out than anything.

My husband slep sideways across the zippered doorway of the tent. We stayed together, never apart for any reason.

Where did this family think they were? In the back yard? This sounds like its going to be a bad ending. Something is way hinky here.
Shes all dressed up and her hair put up. Oh yea, we all do that when we go camping?????????????

As sad as this is, it is a reflection on the ignorance of the parents. If you are not going to watch your children, then don’t take them camping.

A two year old can walk quite a distace in ten minutes and in the process be completely out of sight from the camp. Who knows what might happen, fall in a hole, a creek or pond, or become the victum of a hungry wild animal.

I couldn’t agree more…how can a child, only 2years old, mostly in the dark, barefoot, stumble out of the tent you are sleeping in without waking you up????
And if I had let this happen, I guarentee that I wouldn’t be wearing that kind of clothes if the press AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY was watching and filming! ADOPTING??? OH, YEAH!!
People make mistakes, I know that, but DAMN!! I’ld be making a drug test MANDATORY before much longer! Maybe the biological Mom knew something was wrong…like most of my friends and me think.

When your child is missing you probably don’t care if you are naked. What you are wearing is the last thing on your mind. Lets just pray that this little boy is found alive. Then we can pass judgement. If there is foul play we will shake our heads and ask why.

@whattheheck: What are you talking about? The woman was not dressed up. She was wearing a bathing suit with a cover up over it and her hair was up in a ponytail. She looked like she was crying for hours. I don’t know what happened, but she certainly wasn’t made up like a beauty queen.

first thing i did when i read about this was pray for him. first thing yall did was make judgements about the whole situation. Please make a difference to make the world good, instead of being a snob.

#6 Ok recess is over time for you to go back to potty training class you nitwit…

There is NO WAY a 2 year old could be taken from a tent without waking who ever else was in the tent with him. Very fishy.

This is called common sense parenting. ALL of the blame goes to the illiterate and ignoramous hillbillie parents.

What have you EVER done to make the world a better place? Drive the $41K Volt…LOL!

I was talking to people I know in AZ. They tell me that unlike what the national reports said the local news said the toddler was NOT sleeping in the tent with the adoptive mom, her mother & her 12 year old daughter. He was sleeping in the OTHER tent with her 14 yr old son & his best friend. You have 3 females there & the baby is being watched overnight by the 2 ninth grade boys? Something isn’t right with this story….
