Auld Lang Syne – Guy Lombardo And His Royal Canadians

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Happy New Year 2017 Monkey

Remembering Those We Lost in 2016 … IN MEMORIAM

We sadly lost too many of those that we grew up with idolizing in sports, movies, music and entertainment in 2016. Honestly, I cannot remember a year that more people from my childhood were lost.  From music icons like David Bowie, Prince, Glenn Frey and Merle Haggard, to sports giants like Muhammad Ali,  Arnold Palmer and Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe, to all too many actors, actresses and celebrities that we grew up with like Florence Henderson, Dan Haggerty, Carrie Fisher, Alan Thicke to the voice of baseball when I was a kid, Joe Garagiola . We lost former First lady Nancy Reagan and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. We lost the greatest female basketball coach Pat Summit.  And we lost an American hero, John Glenn.

God bless all and may you rest in eternal peace …

Sadly we lost such Hollywood actors like Gene Wilder, Alan Rickman, Florence Henderson, Garry Shandling, Alan Thicke, Patty Duke, Garry Marshall (director, producer & actor), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Robert Vaughn, Ron Glass, Margaret Whitton, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Ken Howard, George Kennedy, Carrie Fisher, Doris Roberts, Steven Hill, Abe Vigota, Debbie Reynolds and far too many more …

Barack Obama to Meet with Congressional Democrats on Saving Obamacare & His Failed Presidency

So much for Barack Obama promising a peaceful transition to president-elect Donald Trump. As reported at Politico, lame-duck Barack Obama plans to meet on Wednesday with congressional Democrats on how to save his failed signature piece of legislation, Obamacare. In direct contract with the will of the American people. The repeal and replacement of Obamacare was on the ballot during the 2016 presidential election that saw Donald Trump win in a electoral college landslide. But, just like how the LEFT and Democrats refuse to acknowledge the Trump victory, they are also trying to resist the will of the people who want an end to Obamacare and have it replaced with something affordable and a more common sense approach to healthcare. After Obama gets back from his lavish vacation, he looks to save his unaffordable, Affordable health care law. Now Obama and Democrats look to bring back the old lies that the GOP looks to take away your healthcare.

Obama looking to continue to inflict pain on America

President Barack Obama will head to Capitol Hill Wednesday to meet with congressional Democrats about how to shield Obamacare from Republican efforts to dismantle it, a Capitol Hill source told POLITICO.

The meeting is at 9 a.m. in the Congressional Visitors Center auditorium and is for both House and Senate Democrats, according to a notice sent to members Friday morning.

Incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has promised to stand firm against repeal efforts and subsequently, Republican efforts to replace the Affordable Care Act with a more conservative framework. And a conference call convened by House Democrats earlier this week focused largely on emphasizing the benefits of Obamacare, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) noting that she sees parallels between the current situation and the 2005 effort by then-President George W. Bush to privatize Social Security, according to an aide on the call.

“The Affordable Care Act has been successful in meeting its goals of reducing cost, increasing access and improving quality of care,” Pelosi wrote to members in a “Dear Colleague” letter this week.

Democrats are also launching a broader health care offensive against Republicans that focuses not only on their push to repeal Obamacare but any prospective efforts from the GOP to overhaul Medicare and Medicaid. To that end, Democrats, led by Schumer, Pelosi and liberal firebrand Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — will host a so-called “day of action” on Jan. 15 that is meant to rev up grass roots support for shielding social safety net programs.

Obama lies, lies and more lies

Barack Obama and Democrats refuse to admit that Obamacare has been a lie and a complete failure. Then again, what’s new? They think they also won the 2016 elections. So much for elections having consequences like Obama once told the GOP. That of course is different when the shoe is on the left foot.

Obama Expels 35 Russian Diplomats & Closes Two Compounds in Response for Russian Hacking

Reuters is reporting that the United States expelled 35 Russian diplomats and closed two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland. Hmm, so this is how Obama strikes back at Russia for election hacking, eh? So just curious, would Obama had done this if Hillary Clinton was elected president? Of course no is the answer. It is yet just one more vindictive, 11th hour, out the door temper tantrum by a failed president. Barack Obama knew about this hacking for months and did nothing. But the coward and chief manages to muster up the CO-JONES on his way out the door. Honestly, Obama can’t leave soon enough.

The United States expelled 35 Russian diplomats and closed two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland in response to a campaign of harassment against American diplomats in Moscow, a senior U.S. official said on Thursday.

The move against the diplomats from the Russian embassy in Washington and consulate in San Francisco is part of a series of actions announced on Thursday to punish Russia for a campaign of intimidation of American diplomats in Moscow and interference in the U.S. election.

The Obama administration was also announcing on Thursday a series of retaliatory measures against Russia for hacking into U.S. political institutions and individuals and leaking information to help President-elect Donald Trump and other Republican candidates, two U.S. officials said.

Trump, who takes office on Jan. 20, has called for better relations with Russia. It was not clear if he will be able to immediately overturn the measures announced on Thursday.

The Russian diplomats would have 72 hours to leave the United States, the official said. Access to the two compounds, which are used by Russian officials for intelligence gathering, will be denied to all Russian officials as of noon on Friday, the senior U.S. official added.

“These actions were taken to respond to Russian harassment of American diplomats and actions by the diplomats that we have assessed to be not consistent with diplomatic practice,” the official said.

New York Times:

The Obama administration struck back at Russia on Thursday for its efforts to influence the 2016 election, ejecting 35 Russian intelligence operatives from the United States and imposing sanctions on Russia’s two leading intelligence services, including four top officers of the military intelligence unit the White House believes ordered the attacks on the Democratic National Committee and other political organizations.

In a sweeping set of announcements, the United States was also expected to release evidence linking the cyberattacks to computer systems used by Russian intelligence. Taken together, the actions would amount to the strongest American response ever taken to a state-sponsored cyberattack aimed at the United States.

Debbie Reynolds Dies at Age 84 after Suffering a stroke One Day after her Daughter Carrie Fisher Passes Away

Hollywood legend and icon Debbie Reynolds has passes away at the age of 84 after suffering a stroke. She died just one day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher, died after suffering a massive heart attack and never regaining consciousness. According to reports prior to her stroke Reynold’s stated, “I want to be with Carrie”. The Hollywood icon died at Cedars- Sinai hospital.

Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds died on Wednesday a day after the death of her daughter, telling family before a suspected stroke: ‘I want to be with Carrie’

The 84-year-old was rushed from her son Todd’s Beverly Hills home at around 1pm after falling ill while planning her daughter’s funeral.

She died in hospital hours later.

Todd Fisher revealed on Wednesday evening how his mother had been shattered with grief since his sister’s death the previous day.

On the morning of her death, she told him: ‘I miss her so much, I want to be with Carrie,’ according to TMZ.

Carrie Fisher, 60, died on Tuesday from complications which stemmed from a heart attack she suffered on Christmas Eve while flying to Los Angeles from London.

Debbie Reynolds, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ Star and Carrie Fisher’s Mother, Dies at 84

The vivacious blonde, who had a close but sometimes tempestuous relationship with her daughter, was one of MGM’s principal stars of the 1950s and ’60s in such films as the 1952 classic “Singin’ in the Rain” and 1964’s “The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” for which she received an Oscar nomination as best actress.

Reynolds received the SAG lifetime achievement award in January 2015; in August of that year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences voted to present the actress with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Nov. 14 Governors Awards, but she was unable to attend the ceremony due to an “unexpectedly long recovery from a recent surgery.”

Reynolds had a wholesome girl-next-door look which was coupled with a no-nonsense attitude in her roles. They ranged from sweet vehicles like “Tammy” to more serious fare such as “The Rat Race” and “How the West Was Won.” But amid all the success, her private life was at the center of one of the decade’s biggest scandals when then-husband, singer Eddie Fisher, left her for Elizabeth Taylor in 1958.
