Christopher Starks, Student Shot and Killed Savannah State University
Christopher Starks, a junior at Savannah State University, who was shot Thursday night near the university’s student union, has died. Sadly, Starks died at a local hospital from his wounds early Friday. Savannah State University’s campus had been on lock down; however, it has since been lifted. Loretta Heyward, a spokesperson for the college, said in a statement early Friday that Christopher Starks, a junior from the metro Atlanta area, was the only person taken to the hospital after what she called the “altercation.”
According to authorities, there have been no arrests made in the shooting and a suspect has yet to be identified. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the ongoing investigation with assistance from the Savannah State University Police Department.
A Savannah State University student who was shot near the university’s student union died early Friday, according to a university statement.
Christopher Starks, a junior at the Georgia college, died at a local hospital, according to the statement. He was shot during an alternation at the student union building Thursday night. He was the only victim in the attack, the statement said.
There have been no arrests made in the shooting. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the ongoing investigation with assistance from the Savannah State University Police Department. Police have yet to identify a suspect.
The statement said Friday’s classes will be delayed until 10 a.m. and that grief counselors will be on camps.
