Doug says that no sane man would do what he was going to do, ya think? He stated he carefully planned this stunt, and did not want to get hurt. Doug Hughes states that “terrorists don’t announce their fights before they take off. Terrorists don’t broadcast their flight path. Terrorists don’t invite an escort to go along with them.” Hmm, thanks to Dough Hughes and the idiotic reaction of the Capital police and Secret Service, I bet they do now.

Dough Hughes did this stunt in order to draw attention to campaign finance reform and most likely probably brought more attention to would-be terrorists and lone-wolfs in how to fly in a no-fly zone without getting blown out of the sky. Hughes says his intent was to deliver 535 letters strapped to the landing gear to give to members of Congress.

Hughes was taken into custody and arrested.

Doug Hughes’ close friend and co-worker, Mike Shanahan, said today that the Ruskin mailman is not a terrorist and did not mean any harm with his protest.

And just hours before Hughes landed in Washington, Hughes’ friend said he called a Secret Service agent to notify him of the possibility of the gyrocopter flight.

“He’s not a suicide bomber, he’s a patriot,” said Shanahan, 65, of Apollo Beach. The whole stunt centers around Hughes’ effort to change campaign finance laws, “or the lack thereof,” according to Shanahan.

About a year ago, Shanahan said, Hughes told him of the idea to deliver letters to legislators by gyrocopter. Not long after, they were both questioned by a Secret Service official in Florida, he said. Wednesday morning, Shanahan said, Hughes called his friend and said he was in Washington, ready to take off.

Just curious, didn’t I see this same flying contraption in the 1986 movie, Howard the Duck?

How in the hell was this allowed to happen and according to reports, authorities were warned in advance that this would happen and still allowed it to occur. HUH? So it was okay, because Hughes was a LEFT-WING nut-job? ABC7 reports that the small single-man gyrocopter that flew through restricted airspace around the National Mall was undetected by NORAD.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Mississippi, the top minority member on the House Homeland Security Committee, told CNN he had “deep concern” about Wednesday’s incident and the fact that the Secret Service knew about the pilot.

“Obviously we should have kept a little closer tabs on him, especially within the prohibited airspace,” Thompson said.

“It shows that we still have some areas that are vulnerable and while we can have prohibited airspace it shows that certain kinds of flight patterns are still problematic, and a really bad guy could have caused significant harm if had been armed with explosives or things like that,” he said.

Seattle CEO Dan Price of Gravity Payments Says He Plans to Pay Employees $70,000 Minimum Wage

CEO TELLS EMPLOYEES NEW MINIMUM WAGE WILL BE $70, 000 AND IT WASN’T APRIL FOOL’S DAY …

Gravity Payments CEO Dan Price announced to his employees that the new company minimum wage will be $70,000. The stunned employees of the Ballard, Washington based company were mostly likely stunned when they heard the CEO’s words, pinching themselves to make sure they were not dreaming and checking the calendar to make sure it was not April 1st. Good for him and for a CEO to make this decision on his own with no protests of employees demanding $15 an hour. Kudos to the privately owned company and kudos to CEO Dan Price for his brilliant marketing strategy. Although costly in the short run, this will greatly pay off in the long run. The Gravity raise will be phased in over the next few years; however, they will be getting the best and brightest future employees.

Obviously not every boss can do what CEO Dan Price announced and it better works for smaller companies with less employees. Dan Price made $1 M a year and took a pay cut to make it possible that his employees make $70K a year. WOW!!! I do not agree at all that the government should dictate to a business what the minimum wage should be. Those that you hear about in fast food restaurants protesting for $15/hr minimum wage can take a hike. Trying getting more order correct first or being able to make proper change from $15 before you think you deserve it. However, if a private business does it on their own because they think their employees are worth it … more power to them.

Employees at a Seattle company are still trying to wrap their minds around the news their boss just delivered. Some of them are getting a raise.

A huge one.

“You might be making $35,000 a year right now but everyone in here will definitely be making $70,000 a year and I’m super excited about that,” Dan Price, CEO of Gravity Payments in Ballard, told his employees during a recent gathering.

The announcement caught everyone off-guard. Could it be true? $70,000 is the new minimum wage in this office?

A small single man aircraft flew through restricted airspace in Washington, DC and landed on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The pilot was arrested after making what he called an act of civil disobedience and a protest against campaign finance reform. WHAT THE HELL? According to authorities, no weapons were found on the plane and a bomb squad found nothing hazardous on the aircraft. With all the screw-ups lately by the Secret Service in allowing individuals onto the White House grounds, maybe some one would like to explain this one?

A Florida mailman bent on making a public statement about corruption in Congress flew a small one-man aircraft through restricted airspace and landed on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol Wednesday, the latest in a recent series of startling security breaches at the seat of government in Washington.

No weapons were found on the plane and the man stated he was making an act of civil disobedience. But the sight of his low and slow-flying aircraft approaching and landing by Washington’s most famous landmarks prompted a brief security lockdown at the Capitol and raised broader concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in an area that home to all three branches of government.

He described the plane as “a 250-pound ultralight gyroplane,” a type of aircraft often called a “gyrocopter,” made from kits and propelled by a small motor with room for only a pilot on board. “I’m the pilot,” he wrote.

“What’s unique and newsworthy is the delivery,” he wrote to the TV station. “I’m going to land my gyro on the front lawn of the Capitol Building at the top end of the National Mall. The issue is important enough to defy the no-fly zone and risk life and limb, and my freedom in pursuit of an honest government that represents the people.”

On the website, he wrote: “This isn’t my regular route. I’m a mailman in Riverview, FL – near Tampa. I’m 61 years old, married, with four children. I flew with my father who was a private pilot, fixed wing and almost helicopter. I’ve been flying gyrocopters for over a year.”

As reported by The New York Times, Hillary Rodham Clinton was asked by congressional investigators in a December 2012 letter whether she had used a private email account while serving as secretary of state. Hillary Clinton never responded to the letter and purposely tried to hide the fact that she was in fact using a private email account. The question was asked to Mrs. Clinton in a December 13, 2012, letter from Representative Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Conveniently she never responded. Maybe she shredded that too.  When Mr. Issa received a response from the State Department on March 27, all he got was a description of the department’s email policies. UNREAL.

What difference Does it Make that I Mislead congress and the American People …

Hillary Rodham Clinton was directly asked by congressional investigators in a December 2012 letter whether she had used a private email account while serving as secretary of state, according to letters obtained by The New York Times.

But Mrs. Clinton did not reply to the letter. And when the State Department answered in March 2013, nearly two months after she left office, it ignored the question and provided no response.

The query was posed to Mrs. Clinton in a Dec. 13, 2012, letter from Representative Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Mr. Issa was leading an investigation into how the Obama administration handled its officials’ use of personal email.

“Have you or any senior agency official ever used a personal email account to conduct official business?” Mr. Issa wrote to Mrs. Clinton. “If so, please identify the account used.”

How can anyone, whether they be Hillary Clinton or not, be even considered as a viable candidate to run for president when they have a track record of purposely and willfully lying to Congress and trying to evade and stonewall an investigation? As we all know now, Hillary Clinton exclusively used a (many) private email accounts while she was secretary of state, also stored them on her own private email server and has since reportedly scrubbed the hard drive. Sorry, this should 100% disqualify one from running for president.

22 Year Old Alma Del Real Missing Since 4/12/15 in South Bend, IN (Update: Body Found Likely Missing Indiana Woman; 24 Year Old Alberto Cruz Arrested, Charged with Murder)

22 year old Alma Del Real has been missing since Sunday, April 12, 2015 in South Bend, Indiana. According to accounts, Alma Del Real hasn’t been seen since about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when a friend dropped her off at her Ewing Street home after she left Studio Rumba 305, a nightclub on South Main Street. She has not been seen or heard from since and she never showed up for work on Monday. She was last seen wearing a light blue, skinny, ripped, high-waisted pants, a black crop top, and a tan, leather jacket. The South bend police department is asking for your help in locating  Alma Del Real.

Alma Del Real hasn’t been seen since about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when a friend dropped her off at her Ewing Street home after she left Studio Rumba 305, a nightclub on South Main Street.

Del Real has had no contact with her friends of family, and she did not show up for work Monday, city police Capt. Phil Trent said in a news release. She also missed a conference she was supposed to attend with a friend in Chicago.

Del Real was last seen wearing ripped, light blue, slim-fitting pants, a black crop top and a tan fitted leather jacket. She is 5-foot-5, 137 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Del Real is asked to call the South Bend Police Department at 574-235-6480.

UPDATE I: Body found is likely that of missing Alma Del Real; Arrest made.

Police believe they have found the body of a missing 22-year-old South Bend woman, and a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection to her death.

South Bend police say the body they believe belongs to Alma Del Real was found Wednesday in Marshall County. An autopsy is scheduled Thursday in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and police say they’re awaiting official confirmation that it’s Del Real.

According to police, the suspect was booked into St. Joseph County Jail Wednesday night on a preliminary charge of murder. St. Joseph County Prosecutor Ken Cotter tells the South Bend Tribune that formal charges are expected within the coming days.

“I want to send out my heartfelt condolences to the family because I know as much of a toll it took on me and my personal family regarding this case, I can’t imagine what it has done to them,” Gobel said. “My little girl asked me every day if I found Alma yet, and today I get to go home and say we have.”
