Missing Since 3/30/15 … 51 Year Old Iona Costello & Her 14 Year Old Daughter Emily Costello Found Safe in New York City (Update: Bizarre, Hiding Because She’s Afraid Her Ex-con Stepson)

OK, THIS ONE SOUNDS A BIT BIZARRE …

51 year old Iona Costello and her 14 year old daughter Emily Costello who had been missing since March 30, 2015 after they had traveled from Greenport, Long Island to NYC to attend some shows and museums have been found safe. The Long Island mother and her daughter had been missing for 3 weeks, including the 14 year old not showing up from school and the prestigious and pricey Ross School in Southampton, LI. Iona Costello and Emily were found safe and unharmed inside an Upper West Side hotel. According to reports, someone at the hotel spotted the Costellos and tipped off police. A statement from Southold police said “no further investigation” was needed. Hmm, something might be needed because this is far from normal behavior.

A Long Island mother and daughter missing since March 30 have been found safe in New York City’s Upper West Side neighborhood, authorities told ABC News.

Iona Costello and her 14-year-old daughter Emily went missing after leaving Greenport, Long Island, for a trip to New York City.

Family members said the mother and daughter were supposed to spend a week in Manhattan, watching some shows in the theater district. The mother and daughter were recognized Sunday by a front desk manager at the hotel where they were staying, authorities said.

UPDATE I: Mom & daughter aren’t missing — they’re hiding from ex-con in-law, George Costello Jr.

Well this is bizarre … I figured some how this missing person case was a result of the on-going fight over the will of  Iona Costello’s deceased husband.

The Long Island mom who sparked a scare when she disappeared with her daughter in Manhattan is still in hiding because she’s afraid her ex-con stepson will come after her, sources told The Post on Thursday.

Iona Costello, 51, won’t return to her Southold farm out of fear of stepson George Costello Jr., who along with his siblings is fighting her for their late father’s fortune, sources said.

“Until she feels safe, she doesn’t want her or her daughter to come back,” said a close relative of Costello’s who spoke to the frightened mom Thursday. “She said, ‘I’m not looking over my shoulder all the time.’ It’s an awful situation.”

George Costello Jr. did time for felony fraud in 2013 and is now in jail in Florida for contempt of court after a fight with his fiancée.

But his stepmom, who has a restraining order against him, knows it’s only a matter of time before he gets out, relatives said.

Oklahoma City Marks 20th Anniversary of Bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building at Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum

It is hard to believe it has been 20 years, April 19, 1995 …

The Oklahoma City bombing was a domestic terror attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. Timothy McVeigh detonated an explosive-filled truck that he had parked in front of the Federal Building as McVeigh’s co-conspirator, Terry Nichols, had assisted in the bomb preparation. The Oklahoma bomb blast claimed 168 lives, including 19 children under the age of 6, and injured more than 680 people. It was the greatest and most destructive act of terrorism in the United States until September 11, 2011. McVeigh was executed by lethal injection in 2001. Nichols was convicted in 1997 of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and eight counts of involuntary manslaughter for killing federal law enforcement personnel. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole because the jury deadlocked on the death penalty.

Oklahoma City marks 20th anniversary of bombing at memorial.

Oklahomans and others gathered Sunday at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum for the 20th anniversary Remembrance Ceremony in honor of those who died as a result of the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

Emotions overwhelmed Helena Garrett as she stood at a lectern near the reflecting pool at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and struggled to say her son’s name.

“My baby,” she said and paused, bowing her head and grasping the side of the podium when the emotions were too much, before continuing.

“Tevin D’Aundrae Garrett.”

Bound by a common loss, sons, daughters, parents, brothers, sisters and others, read the names Sunday of the 168 people who died as a result of the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building during a 20th anniversary Remembrance Ceremony.

Hundreds of people gathered where the building once stood, and many more watched from home, to honor those who died in one of the largest acts of domestic terrorism in the nation’s history. As they remembered, they also celebrated the city’s resiliency and response in the face of what was described as unspeakable horror.

In the minutes after the attack, the people of Oklahoma City did something that others watching from afar found hard to fathom, FBI Director James Comey said.

“You ran towards darkness,” he said. “You ran towards pain. You ran towards anger and destruction. You ran because these were your friends. You ran because they were your neighbors and your teammates and members of your congregation. You ran because that is what Oklahomans do for their family, and on this day, those people were family.”

NFL News: Philadelphia Eagles Reported They Will Sign QB Tim Tebow on Monday … Is It Tebow Time in Philly?

UM, THIS ONE WILL CERTAINLY CAUSE PHILLY FANS TO QUESTION CHIP KELLY …

ESPN is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles are set to sign former Florida Gator QB Tim Tebow. According to CBS Sports, the team is convinced he’s improved a lot, who has trained with throwing coach Tom House, and will keep him as their fourth quarterback on the roster for the off-season program, that includes  Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley. Honestly, I don’t get this one. Chip Kelly has made some controversial moves in the off-season, cutting his best wide receiver, traded his best running back and acquired a quarterback who spends more time on injured reserve than he does in the huddle. But there was obviously a method to his madness. This one; however, is a head scratcher and makes even non-Philly fans ask why. I just don’t see how a QB with a completion rate under 50%, who has just as many turnovers in his career as TD’s, including 7 fumbles, and is a one trick pony is a positive in the Eagles offense.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually like the guy and admire his pursuit of his dream, but I just don’t see how bringing in a distraction like Tebow is worth it. I think he is a good guy, but that hardly makes one a good QB. I would have thought if Tebow had any chance of playing in the NFL again, he would have had his shot with the Patriots. They are known for fitting talent to a position and if Tebow would have agreed to become a TE, FB or a hybrid receiver position, he would be playing in the NFL …  but he refused to change positions.

Tim_Tebow2

Tim Tebow plans to sign a one-year deal Monday with the Eagles, a league source said Sunday night.

Tebow flew in to Philadelphia on Sunday night in time to be in attendance for the start of the Eagles’ offseason program Monday.

Philadelphia has finalized an agreement with the 27-year-old Tebow, the framework of which was put into place when he worked out for the team last month.

Tim Tebow has been working for ESPN and as an analyst for the SEC Network and last played in an NFL regular-season game when he was with the Jets after playing two seasons with the Denver Broncos. He also was with the New England Patriots for a brief stint, but was released before the season started.

UPDATE I: Philly.com chimes in, Can Tebow help Eagles? Probably not.

Just a note to Philly fans, Tim Tebow (1-1) actually has a better playoff record than Peyton Manning (11-13), also better than Bradford and Barkley, seeing that they have never sniffed post season. Although Mark Sanchez has a better playoff record (4-2) than Tebow, it was mainly due to the Jet’s defense and running game, not Sanchez. Also, Tebow has one less butt fumble than Mark Sanchez.

Twitter blew up when the news about Tebow surfaced early Sunday night. Rarely has someone accomplished so little and received so much attention, but when the talking heads at ESPN and the other 24-7 sports networks find a story they like, they will shove it down our throats over and over again regardless of the actual significance.
