President Obama Leaves Out An Important Word In His Reading Of The Gettysburg Address … “Under God”

 

Why should anyone be surprised at anything he does anymore?

As if it was not bad enough that President Barack Obama did not attend the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, even though Obama claims that Lincoln is one of his heroes. A snub was not enough for this president, in a he managed to leave the word “under God” out of his reading of Lincoln’s great speech.  From NRO, in a recorded recitation uploaded to YouTube on November 9, President Obama read the address in its entirety. However, when it came to the line “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom,” the President left out the words “under God.” Of course he did. Because this is what community agitators do, cause division, chaos and turmoil at every turn.

One nation under God?  Under President Obama, maybe not so much.

As first reported on WMAL’s Chris Plante Show Tuesday, the Commander-in-Chief joined a cast of 61 other noted lawmakers, politicians, news anchors and celebrities, including every living President, in reciting the Gettysburg Address, which President Abraham Lincoln delivered on November 19, 1863.

The dignitaries all delivered the address as Lincoln had written it, including the phrase, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.” (Click to listen).  Curiously, however, in his version of the address, President Obama omitted the words “under God.”

You can see the President’s reading of the Gettysburg speech here -  his omission is at the 1:35 mark.

But of course this was probably the first time Barack Obama was made aware that “under God” was actually in the Gettysburg Address. And it makes no matter as he was too busy fixing the Obamacare website to have noticed. Oh, and it was Bush’s and the GOP’s fault.

The irony of it all is best pointed out by the Heritage Foundation. It is a stretch for a big government, socialist liberal like Barack Obama who believes in the ‘nanny state,” seems to not have a grasp of the US Constitution, the separation of powers and that Our Government is supposed to be of, by and for the People. However, under Obama, he thinks that the people work for the government. The final line of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address is, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”.

      Barry could not say Allah instead of GOD without giving himself away as a Muslim, so he just left it out.

      I was going to say that he couldn’t say “Under Allah,” without revealing his true faith, so he just left God out. Someone beat me to it, I see.

      Well, apparently Lincoln left out “under God” in his prepared text, and only added it later. No one knows for sure what Lincoln said that day, but both versions of the prepared text — Nicolay and Hay — lacked the phrase “under God”.

      isn’t it strange how democrats and blacks “use” Lincoln and MLK when they need to whip up the minority population ? even though Lincoln was a Republican and MLK and his family were conservative.
      they will resort to any shady or criminal act to further their boy’s destruction and to keep their klantation stocked with loyal subjects to use and discard as needed.

      obama(barry soetoro)does not belong in the White House nor does he belong in this country. He’s just plain evil. And it’s just sickening what he has gotten away with and what he does and is still doing to our country. The debt and many other problems he has laid upon us and future generations to come.

      The Gettsyburg Address is something written and spoken that is very dear to us. How dare he trample on it!!!!

      And riding the rails to DC on inauguration day. Oh how dramatic. Those moments in time belong to Abraham Lincoln. Not to a punk, a Chicago thug.

      He preached about a bright shining light to beacon down upon us….forget it…. all he brings are dark, black clouds.

      While Lincoln was certainly a registered Republican, King was considered a quintessential liberal. Lincoln tried to tread the middle of the political spectrum, but the Emancipation Proclamation was hardly conservative.

      As we said, it’s not known for sure. The prepared texts do not have the phrase. Obama recited the Nicolay copy per the director’s instructions. That hardly has the import you are attaching to it. Nor was Lincoln religion in any traditional sense.

      A lot of newspapers covered it, and published varying versions, not all having Lincoln saying “under God”. Indeed, if Lincoln said it, which seems quite possible, it was an afterthought, inserted at the last moment, as it is not on the prepared drafts.

      You cited AP, so we would assume you would find them authoritative concerning their own reporting. Are you disputing Gilbert’s own account of his AP reporting as reported by — AP?

      SM: I think it is amazing that you feel the need to have to defend Obama for not saying “Under God”. Doesn’t that pretty much say it all that anyone would have to defend a president for knowing better. If Obama claims to be the Lincoln scholar he is and that Abe had such a profound impact on him … then Obama should know better, shouldn’t he?

      But the entire BO presidency has been about people have to defend his ignorance and stupidity and those questioning his policies being called racists.
